Thanks

Firstly, I would decide upon a general approach. Should it be to the fact that your players are really smart creative with great passing, then I would use the possession versions. If your team had strong and quick players, then the Counter versions will be your main choice.

After this, I would start out with liking at the opponent. How attacking or Cautioud should I play? If facing Aston villa at home the first game of the season, then why not try a more attacking version and follow the game closely. Are you bring being hit on the counter, stretching their defense etc. If playing away to them, then start with a more Cautious approach. How does the flow of the game look? Are you getting under too much pressure, are there space to exploit and perhaps you should try hit them on the break etc etc.

Been using these tactics with Brighton for half a year in game now, and I've gotta say it's mostly working out great! I'm currently having most success with the counter version of the tactic, since it creates the most ccc's by far for me.
Had 6 ccc's one match but only scored 2 goals... I'm finding the cautious and attacking versions a little too conservative when it comes to creating chances, especially when you aren't doing a quick counter attack.

Had a good season with Galatasaray using attacking posession. Won leage comfy, reached CL knockout lost to Ajax unluckly with away goals. Only problem is i can't get the best out of Wellington Nem, doesn't perform well in AMC nor ST, and too direct player to play in MR/L, any suggestions? or shall i just sell him..

Can you suggests suitable players for AMC and right ST positions? Whoever i play in those positions they just don't perform well enough..

And about the 2xDMC, is it possible to drag them into MC with lowering their mentality a bit? or maybe pushing DL up a bit to fill the gap between defance and mid?

Sound like you are using this set just like intended, playing to the strength of the team. With a team full of creative passer, then the possession based approaches would be better but as you are an underdog with some strong and quick players, its perfect to use the fact that this is where you are most likely to be able to beat your opponents.

If getting success and your opponents starts to treat you like a bigger threat, then you might be forced to use the Attacking possession approach. If this actually will see to break down these cautious teams is a different matter though as its hard to break down equal opponents that are playing cautious and to their strengths

I ouwld not worry too much about Wellington not performing yet. I would actially be surprised if he did. After all, he is a young Brazilian player that is yet to setlle in and probably cant communicate with the rest of the team/staff

As for players, I could not really say as I am yet to actually look at the transfer market.

2 MCs ? hmmm, I have not tried it but notice that this formation will be much more attacking then the other. If wanting to try it, try the following in each and every version

- DMCs moved to MC, dropped mentality with 3 notches
- AMC - raise mentality with 5 notches
- Raise d-line with about 3 notches in all but the attack and Overload version

I have used three of the ones you linked me too previously and with a slight tweak they are working well (on FM12), i won't be getting FM13 straight away as i am enjoying my saves on FM12... maybe christmas time. Are the new threads for FM13?

I will certainly look for advice on the match engine and 3-5-2 for FM13

Cheers for your support on this tactic

Yeah me to. I was actually planning on playing my Leicester save for 5 more seasons but when I was deleting old Fm12 save, I accidently deleted the most recent ones insetad of the old ones :D

But... Its probably all for the good as I am enjoying 13 ever so much.

Your Overload & cautious tactics are great. tried that when my own tactics wasnt going so well & decided to try yours on a manutd save.. my only problem is i created a tactic to enable me use AMC's so am tryna re-train them to either be wingers or MC's on your tactic.. but so far i havent lost any game that i have used your tactic in 7 games so far.. its great & am having my left wing back score a lot.. Fabio to be specific.. Great tactical mind you got there.. am gonna study it to develop mine.. am gonna use your tactics with no editing for the whole season so i can study well.. congrats^^)

Thats the best way. Try them and really get to know them.

Very good tactic. Using with Cardiff city. Used right through pre-season friendlies and won all games. First game of season won away to Blackburn 2-1, won Home to Derby 3-0, won Blackpool away 4-0 plus winning 2 league cup games. Match prep not even fluid yet. Only just over half way. Using the 2-7-1 attacking tactic and is working so well i haven't even tried any of the other ones. Only real signing has been Reo-Cocker and some Nigerian defender on loan called Ayilia Yussef. Nicky Maynard is on fire. Nice Tactic.

Sounds like you are on fire "mr olympia". I´m currently testing this tactic with Burnly. Results are not that great. The thing I find hard is wich tactic to use in witch situation?

How do you decide wich tactic to use?
Do you always start with the same tactic?
When do you change? And how?

I am using your "271 - COUNTER V2" tactic with Millwall.

Played 9, won 8, drawn 1! Very pleased with it so far.

I tweaked it a little to accommodate for pacy wingers, hugging the touchline and getting plenty of crosses in, worked a treat so far!

Might sound like a stupid question but does this tactic affect injuries in any way? because every game i usually get at least 1 or 2 injuries regardless the amount of stamina they have left. Is due to something in the tactic or are all my players injury prone?

Not really. But all versions are pretty agressive.

Hey TBH had some great success with your tactic but there are a few bugs I have noticed. The main way I concede goals is through long balls but not typical long balls. The winger will play the pass traditionally from the middle third as a diagonal ball across goal and no matter what I do the striker seems to split the defenders. My other concern is with the discipline with the tackling being of poor quality no matter who tackes. The players set to tackle hard though are good tacklers seem to get sent off way too easily so I have had to change their mentality to normal.

On the plus side this has to be the single best tactic for movement I have ever used on fm (except the exploit ones) Great tactic cant wait for v2 Cheers! :)

I love 3-5-2, my favourite formation by far.

If this is as good as the one i tweaked for my FM12 Spurs save, then FM13 will be an epic climb to the top.... What do i mean if?

The Better Halfs´s Narrow 4123 - Set of 4 versions

Notice that this is just a beta, just like the game

THE VERSIONS

Personally, I use this set to suit my managerial preferences. In some saves, I focus on building a team that relies on quick breaks that uses players with good stats in Strength, Aerobic and Tactics. Here, I am more likely to use COUNTER and OVERLOAD. In some saves, i try to build a team that focus on on passing and possession, using players with good stats in Tactics, Ball Control and Attacking. Here, I will be more likely to use ATTACKING AND CAUTIOUS POSSESSION

OVERLOAD
Attacking, quick, direct with the aim to overload the opponents defence. We play with a really high line of defence and when getting into possession, the ball is quickly played onto our advanced.

ATTACKING POSSESSION
Here we play attacking with lots of width with the aim to drag the opponent out of position and make them loose their defensive shape. Possession ?. Well this is the aim anyway. Its not your ordinary possession tactic that produces lots of passes or 75 % possession though. In fact, none of the versions do. To be able to use the most of the pitch we not only use lots of width but also the length of the pitch, hence the slightly deeper d-line than your ordinary possession tactic The aim is to approach the opponent with the ball and drag them out of position by player movement with AND without the ball.

COUNTER
Quickish, direct and one the counter. Here, the aim is to exploit an already open space rather creating one.

CAUTIOUS POSSESSION
Here, the aim is to keep the ball by playing slow and compact, players evaluating every situation one more time before making an easy pass to a team mate. Here, its not about scoring many goal but to control events on the field that we otherwise would not be able to control. Never mind a poor shot on target ratio. It basically happens instead of us loosing the ball in dangerous positions

THE PLAYERS
Central Defenders-Nothing special

Fullbacks - The better the team you are, the more complete they have to be. Almost like Box2Box Wingbacks

DMC - Anchorman/ Defensive Mid/Ballwinner

MCRight - Creative passer/Deep Playmaker

MCLeft - Hardworking Box2Box

FCRight - Inside Forward

FCCentral - Advanced FC/Poacher

FCleft - Inside Forward

Started a new save with Forest ( my 2nd with them in FM13) So far, so good
