The attacking movement of this tactic is great! It produces a variety of Clear Cut Chances and the football is definitely nice to watch even with the ME problems. However, I am having some issues with my Leeds squad. Started a new game, sold a lot of players, bought a lot of players - it is obvious that the team is not working in complete harmony yet even though the tactic familiarity levels are fluid and the general training in the preseason was Team Cohesion. I am not complaining about the results but I would like to fix the issues with my team. The main problem is unstable defense, even with 20% defensive positioning match training I had two or three games in the first 15 when the opposition was able to create 5+ Clear Cut Chances. The squad is (using the mirrored version not made in the Tactic Creator):
P. Kenny - GK
Mattias Johansson(on loan from AZ)/Adam Smith(on loan from Tottenham) - DR, playing as wingback
M. Briggs(on loan from Fulham)/A. White/Zaine Francis-Angol - DL, playing as fullback
T. Lees/G. Gunning - DCR, playing as cover
J. Ivens/J. Pearce - DCL playing as stopper
R. Austin/R. Green - DMC
T Hateley/K. Smith(on loan from Norwich) - MC
K. Ait Fana(on loan from Montpellier)/J. Berg Gudmunsson(on loan from AZ)/A. White - ML
P. McGowan/M. Formica(on loan from Blackburn) - AMC
S. Murray/P. McGowan/J. Berg Gudmunsson(on loan from AZ) - AMR
J. Russel/L. Varney - ST, playing as advanced forward.
1) Why are both DCs as well as the DMC/MC marking their zones not tightly? It is probably a good decision for the cover and the DMC. However the stopper as well as the MC should man mark tightly maybe?
2) Why are both DCs playing with mixed passing and have mentality, suited for fluid or even very fluid style? It might be reasonable if they have good passing and decisions but it is difficult to find ball-playing defenders in Championship. Of course, it is a counterattacking tactic but maybe the fullbacks should be have more direct passing? The defenders in my team have not bad teamwork and anticipation, but after I turned off the offside trap the defense is more solid.
3) Most of the teams in Championship consider Leeds as major contender for promotion and also play counterattacking football, sometimes even defensive. Do you have any remarks about using that wonderful attacking movement in a more attacking tactic when chasing a goal?
Thanks for help in advance!
