Completed my first season with Newcastle and all-in-all a superb season. Semi final in league cup, 6th round in the FA, a semi final in the Euro cup and to top it off I won the PL, finished the season with the same amount WDL as Man U and with the same goal diffence but scored more goals than they did (talk about luck ;P)

First off, congrats on a great tactic . Playing Newcastle and i'm in the title race with 3 games to go. But one thing that puzzles me is the inability your defenders lack... as i'm writing i'm playing Chelsea away in the semi EURO 2nd leg (1-0 at home, Cech saved them the bigger loss), but when Oscar wins a header over Coloccini from a throw in, Coloccini didn't even jump for the ball., but that not all, Oscar has won every header he's been in how is that possible LOL the man has 9 in jumping and 8 in heading.
Have you experienced this aswell?
Well lost 2-0 (my god I really hate that team) Mata scored in the 122 min despite that there were only one stop in the 2nd half of extra... hard to lose in that manner
Just looked at stats for Oscar 7 headers 5 won 2 key, amaizing statistics for a guy with those arial abilities

It's a part of the match Engine that has some issues. Players lack ball awareness and only look at their zone, not the players around it or at the ball.

just curious- is this tactic a work around specifically for this patch or is it likely to continue working post patch when everything is hopefully fixed?

It's not a workaround as such but If the issues in this ME are fixed, the flow might be different and if there are knockon effects from these fixes, nobody knows how things will turn out.

Basicllly though, this tactic is a mixture of my Flat 442 and my Deep 4231 from Fm11 & Fm12 so it has been working for 2 years

Agree with you sometimes I have same problem with my defenders ( I have world class CB like Dede) they make too often mistake like 10 years old kids this year is ME very poor and frustration

Morning TBH, I downloaded these last night (will have a go this evening) and noticed that in the FMC versions the duties of the DMC and another are slightly different, is this deliberate or do I just simply change them to match ?

Not intentional
An user made them for me and I checked most of the settings and they were identical. Both him and me must have missed something. If its just a notch or two on the passing, mentality, closing down sliders then it makes no difference but if its the runs from deep, run with ball etc, then it will effect things( although not much)

What do you use as screams from the sidelines?

" Shouts" can't be used with this tactic . Have a read in the opening post to see why .

Could this tactic work for a lesser team like my San Marino team in Serie B (season 2016/2017)?

The players I got aint that great compared to the other squads in the league. Its my first year in serie B and I just want to keep the http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-manager-2013-tactics-training/108427-help-threads.htmlplace and hopefulle start climbing the table next year when my youngsters are a bit more experienced and has developed.

You don't need quality players to use this approach. What you do need is a balanced squad. Enough players that have the stamina, players with team and work rate, some quick players, enough " tall" players so you avoid conceding too many set pieces etc etc. All in all, a TEAM, not jut a group of players.


And as in all Teams, you need players that want to win, players that are up for the challenge and can pull themselves together when the going gets tough and players that can handle the pressure of suddenly being a favourite. If you combine all this, then you can win the Champions League with players of a much lesser " quality" and " rating" then Barca etc.

Ok, I didn't explain myself very well, sorry.

The duties don't match on the FMc vs the FMC mirror versions, so on the standard the DMC is "support" but on the mirror it's "defend".

I assume the "support" version is the correct one...

If all the " tweaked" settings are the same, it makes no difference but yes, he is a supporting DMC.

Great season ! Champions League can be rather difficult with Italian teams as they ( first seasons ) are not amongst the top 8 teams I terms of quality.

Was doing brilliantly with Leeds in the prem however over the last month or so the tactic has lost its magic completely and I've slipped down to 10th.

Any ideas what I can do to bring it back?

The whole formation is mirrored, so the the FCleft settings are now found in the FCright etc

Really hard to say without playing your save. It's all about the players, their form, their confidence, if they can handle pressure etc.

Have you tried to speak to the players, showing faith and being supportive to those that struggle with confidence, expecting a performance of those that are proffesional etc ?

When the season is at end, I would not expect you to finish top 8 though as your team is simply too weak. Take it from here and build for the future.

Probably your team morale go down after few poor result try call team meeting and improve it. This works fine for me .)

It can be really difficult when one has a tough schedule like in his screens. This is were one is tested as a coach. Personally, I take notes about my players and the way they react to events

If anyone has some players that have been working superbly in any of these "roles", please tell me and I will make a list in the Opening post under every position. ( Not Newgens or a player that has developed well in the last 8 years)

La Liga differs from some other leagues in that teams’ head-to-head records are used to separate them if they are equal on points. Whichever team has the best goal difference in the two matches will be placed highest if the points are equal. If head-to-head goal difference is the same, goal difference over the entire season is used, and then goals scored.
