PvA can be a world class LB! But it's very unlikely he'll be better than Cole because he is one of the best EVER LBs.

Exactly, I dont understand why thats so hard to grasp. In the same way we cant get an exact scholes, you cant get an exact Cole, one of the best english left backs we've ever had

I've been saying this for SO long. But every time I say it, I get knocked back and Chelsea fans say they'd rather spend lots of money and have success immediately and essentially ignore those players (See posts saying: "I want Modric/Neymar/Pastore/Insert random European name here").

Same with Modric interest - McEachran has the chance to be a top class player, but he won't if Modric commands a big transfer fee and the manager feels he has to play him. Just like Sturridge didn't get a chance at Chelsea because Torres was brought in, out of form, and Ancelotti desperately tried to fit him - like a square peg in a round hole - because he cost £50m and it would look silly if he just dropped him.

Yes, McEachran probably needs a loan to reach his potential quicker, but he also needs games at Chelsea. I can easily see him breaking through like Wilshere did for us, but not if they sign Modric.

On yer bike, son.

Well, you and the Chelsea fans are essentially opposites of the footballing spectrum. :)

I think you will find majority of the old time supporters would rather see us play the young lads. If anything it is the owner of the club that wants success now. Unless McEachran is guarenteed 15-20 games next season at Chelsea then he needs a loan deal simple as that. Even if we did sign another CM this summer and McEachran went on a loan deal whats to say we wont sell a CM next season to accomodate a more expirienced McEachran?

I was right about Sturridge from the off and everyone who didnt support Chelsea if i remember correctly was writting him off. I said he needed STARTS not sub appearences and the loan to Bolton was just what he, Bolton and Chelsea needed so it was a win-win-win situation.

Not at all, the owners of the club and the johnny come latelys may expect success but the long time supporters still cant believe their luck.

VITESSE FRIENDLY CANCELLED | Latest Chelsea News | Team & Transfer News | Chelsea FC | Chelsea

Our friendly with Vitesse on the 9th of July has been cancelled. I got abit worried because all i saw was "friendly cancelled" and i only bought my tickets for the Pompey game this morning. Looks as if its Chelsea decision, my gussing would be maybe the club feel we need more time to get transfers/staff/players organised with the new gaffer etc.

say what? you dont even deserve to be expressing your opinion on this, you buy 10 players with 20 mil. when you start paying big money on players, then come and say your say.

and the earliest question of mine was, IS COENTRAO GOOD ENOUGH TO REPLACE ASHLEY OR NOT. or at least DOES HE HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF BEING ONE WORLD CLASS LB. as simple as that. there is a left-back and a LEFT-BACK. just my opinion.

better that way imo, more time for AVB to sort everything out.

firstly re: your response to Joss. grow up or get out, he is rightly entitled to comment here

secondly the point you seem to miss is that everyone is saying why not give your highly rated youth a chance first, before yu buy replacements. At some point you have to have faith in your players. The old school fans seem to understand this

PVA is 20 had expirience of playing in England, qualifys as home grown, has not dissapointed in the 6 games he has played for Chelsea, has impressed immensely on his 3 loan deals, would cost nothing, and could become the near the level of Cole.

Coentrao is 23 and had no expirience of playing in the hardest league to adapt too, will not count as home grown, has impressed worldwide but only really since the world cup, would cost anything over 30million and could become near the level of Cole.

Its a no brainer for me.

Money isn't everything, you know? Why don't you look at all the talent that were bought for peanuts and are now superstars. Are you going to say someone supporting a lower league club couldn't comment on it either? Imagine if Barcelona decided to never give Messi a run in the team because they'd rather have bought someone ready made for the job.

1st- im grown enough to discern a non-sensical post
2nd- i would give pva a shot, but only as a second choice at the moment, cuz he aint grown enough, aint experienced, aint(gonna be) near to Ashley and like you say maybe its because of ashleys class.
3rd- how are we supposed to give him a chance? we sent him couple of times on loan? or why dont we sell Ashley, put PVA in his place, AND WAIT AND HOPE TO MAKE IT TO THE 3RD PLACE. its ****** convenient for you, i know. well this is non-sense. we have to fight for the title my friend, and at a certain point better pay 30 mil instead of getting beaten up by Valencia, Nani and all those ***********.

the only thing i did was asking for your opinions ffs, never realised that you all could attack me like i am freakin Judas or something.

and yes he HASNT disappointed at Chelsea, and yes, he COULD become.

fair enough. im done discussing that. we wait = we see.

Ashley Cole had the worst games of his Chelsea career against Valencia last season on a couple of occasions. Spending 30million does not guarentee anything. Expirience is the 40-50 games he has played in England comparred to Coantrao's none. Your entitled to your opinion dont get me wrong mate, im just trying to change it lol.

By the way this is the firs designated team thread to reach 200pages. Alot to talk about when Chelsea FC are involved.

200? mine says 67, but still 1991 posts, definitely a lot to talk about

All depends on how many posts per page you have set. 100 for me. I assume Jacko has 10posts per page

40-50 but in CHAMPIONSHIP.. whatever. PVA it is then.

yes, happy anniversary. :P

Did we really bid for Villa or was it paper talk, if true looks as if AVB wants 2 up top although i don't believe we did. The Turan bid is ridiculous too!

From what i heard from "my sources" Barca have had no bids for Villa and that was upto midday today so i would say no. Also Boas likes to play 4-3-3 so i would expect no change in formation for Chelsea next season. The Turan bid is stupid, we dont need him and he is not that great either.

My point exactly. Why spend 35m on neymar when you have sturridge. I'd happily have him at united

While this pretty much goes against what I said, I disagree. I still want Neymar because I don't think it would affect Sturridge. I know they are similar players, but if they were both at Chelsea it would work perfect with Neymar on the left and Sturridge (or even Kakuta if he adds consistency) on the right both playing just off Torres. However I think if we got somebody like Sanchez he would most likely play as a right winger (although he operates better centrally we don't really have a position that would suit him) I think he would affect Sturridge's position in the team.
