And Ivanovic with Paulo Ferreira and Bosingwa who can do the job if asked to step into the RB position

Ivanovic is a RB isn't it. I mean last couple of season he has done well there.. Could have offloaded dead wood and reatined youngsters.

Ivanovic's natural position is CB and he has played there for us this season and Paulo is hardly deadwood, he is a excellent squad player who is also very experienced

This.

Although his natural position is CB, and he's another option to the frankly disappointing Bosingwa, he can play RB - he's more defensive though, and isn't that great going forward...

Ferreira really is dead wood Alcaraz. He's been god-awful a lot of the time.

I would not want to sell him off, he is a good squad player and is a experienced head, I have no problems offloading Bosingwa, frankly he is a liability in defence

But then you have no attacking RBs, so you could quite easily get slaughtered by the big teams who will take advantage of a lack of width on the right (especially if you play Sturridge who'd naturally cut inside).

Agreed thats why we have been linked with the likes of Van Der Wiel so much... although I believe that if Ivanovic is told by AVB that RB is where he will play next season then he will be required to improve his attacking intent

Bosingwa's not a liability.

Ferreira's legs have gone, not up to the task of doing the job at the top level anymore.

I really, really have a feeling AVB will get the most out of Bosingwa, he was immense when he first signed and lets not forget he's spent half of last season/season before injured with knee problems but now hes had his op I really believe he can be world class. When Chelsea signed him he was genuinely in the top 4 RB's in the world and going forward one of the best out there, seriously Alcaraz/Any doubters let AVB take a look and we'll judge him on how he plays next season. Jose

I think there's less risk keeping Bosingwa than Ferriera on. Ferreira is slow and generally poor - at least if you keep Bosingwa you have an attacking RB.. Surely easier to improve an attacking players defending than to improve a CB's attacking attributes?

God how we missed out on Bosingwa. If I'm not wrong we were favs to sign him but Chelsea made a late bid and offered better terms (Like they did for Mikel and Robben) now we have Rafael, Fabio who will only get better and better and we paid around 4 Million for the twins. Now everything that happened was for our good..

... And in turn, we almost signed them but they opted for Utd. Wish we had them tbh - desperately need some good young FBs. None in our academy.

Trolling or not Joss has a point. At one point of time Cork was highly rated.

Im sorry but at 18 McEachran>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cork

Yeah. But go by the rule book.. ;)

Manchester United got in touch with Fluminense and asked permission for the twins to travel to Manchester to train with them in 2005. Shortly afterwards, a scout claiming to represent Arsenal visited the twins and asked them to come to England to train with Arsenal without the permission of Fluminense; however, they were dissuaded from this by their mother, who reminded them that they had been with Fluminense since they were 11, and that they should show the club some loyalty. Therefore, they decided to sign for Manchester United over Arsenal, and the two clubs agreed a deal in February 2007

Rafael, now 18, said: “We were not too happy with the way he approached us.

"The scout said he was from Arsenal and invited us to come and train.

"At that time we had already been to see Manchester United and train once with our club’s permission.

“But this man wanted to take us to England and say nothing to Fluminense.

“We disagreed with that principle. Fluminense was where we started, we had been there for years and they looked after us.”

Fabio revealed it was their mother who intervened and made sure her sons did everything by the book.

He said: “It was upsetting. We could have signed there and then and taken all the money and Fluminense would have got nothing.

“But our mother said ‘No, Fluminense have been good to you. You went there when you were 11. I want you to do everything right’.

“So we said we would sign for Manchester as it would be the best thing for us and Fluminense. So we signed and ignored the man pushing Arsenal.”

Lol, Jacko thats soooooooooo wrong.. Its other way around. Got it what you meant, but in 3 years you may sell McEachran saying,

At 18 XYZ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> McEachran

Then again,

Jody Morris was highly rated once upon a time...

Not sure if it is a CFC academy thing but what I will say, and I have said it before on Cork, is that he spent 2-2 and a half seasons out on loan at Burnley and he did stagnate to an extent there. If he was included in Chelsea's squads after the first loan spell and trained with the first team for last season he would no doubt be a better player than he is now due to Chelsea tutoring/monitoring his progress better. Huge mistake in my opinion, but I do think Cork is a future England international (Benchwarmer maybe) but the kid has supreme talent and can make up for the progress he lost the past 2 years. I am very surprised Norwich/QPR didn't go for him especially at that price, Norwich midfield of Cork/Lansbury/Hoolahan would be a decent combination imo...

Rumours that PVA/Bertrand are being sent on loan to QPR which wouldn't surprise me given how cheap their owners have been.

Also McEachran loan move to QPR to play in their first team in Taarabt goes...Not the worst idea in the world to be honest, not heard anything but that's my ideal scenario for the kid.

Just one thing - Lansbury is still an Arsenal player ;)

You may disagree Alcaraz, but Chelsea haven't found a way how to bring youth players into the first team. The transitition from youth team to first team has few faults. I'm not doubting your youth players as you do have few very good young players, but either they are thrown into the deep end at once or they are not getting chances. IMO..

We tried to fast track them all at the same time and it didnt work. They needed more expirience and they got that last season by going on loan. This season they either need another loan deal or to be squad players for Chelsea. The current youth players we have are the best the club has ever produced without a shaddow of a doubt.

Sturridge's appearancs were all as subs with very few mins left.

Point is during your defensive crisis when Bruma was available, Ferreira was used as aa CB. He was loaned out to Hamburg but there is a possibility that he may go to Hamburg on permanent deal. Why was he loaned out when you have only Terry, Luiz and Alex as CBs. Thats not enough for a team fighting on all fronts.

You fail to point out a day or two before the Sunderland game Bruma had played 90minutes for our reserves hence why Carlo didnt start with him. There is no buyout clause in Bruma's loan and Chelsea have the option to bring him back after one year. He has also come out and said he still vows to make his mark at Chelsea after this loan deal, when he comes back he will be 21 and full of expirience. As CB's go Ivanovic's natural position is CB so thats 4 CB's alltogether in the side with 2 rightbacks to fill in if he needs to go back to CB.

Deadwood?? Ferriera is a very proffesional squad player, remember the job he done on Bale last season!!!! This man can still do a job at Chelsea and you need players like that in the squad. When he starts giving away stupid free-kicks or penaltys (like Neville should have done last season if the refs standards were better) then i will say enough is enough.

Ivanovic scored 2 goals in open play from right-back last season that dosent say too defensive too me. Bosingwa has been poor since his knee injury but who knows he may be rejuvanated this season under Boas. Before his injury he was being touted a right sided Ashley Cole so got help teams if we get that Bosingwa back. And i just made my point on Ferriera so i wont do it again.

he did a job on Bale, because Bale is largely one track, and he is an experienced defender, but his legs have gone, and he was turned over by wingers who did more than just get their head down

Ivanovic is not an attacking fullback, he doesnt frequently get the cross in from wide. He is an excellent centreback who can do a job there
