No. We ****** ourselves up. That was the RIGHT/MOST LOGICAL thing United could have done. We were the idiots thinking they will sell to us, and we are the idiots once again here, for giving them Mata.

******* mental.

Pretty much this re: Rooney.

Whatever mate ... It's totally absurd what the club has done

Truly beyond depressing ... What is Jose thinking? What is the club thinking?

Tomorrows the Pre-match press conference ... Jose loves to talk so much, he better have some good ******* answers for this debacle

Hardly when not even a season has passed.

Fair enough if you believe so ... But even the most ardent United fan will agree that United have some time before they can even reach that consistent level of dominance again. For starters, Moyes needs to grow into the job which will take time

Lol ... Bet you weren't saying that when Liverpool were after him. Sour grapes

Haha the difference is at Liverpool he'd get more game time, wouldn't surprise me at all if he did just end up sitting on the bench then disappearing once new signings come in.

Ya he will get more game time at Liverpool, he will be competing with the almighty Raheem Sterling and Victor Moses after all. Salahs ability means he should be nothing more than depth for any club that considers itself title challengers. And no, I doubt we will make any more signings in this area

Oh and interesting news on WAGHN. Apparently we were ready to sell Ba to Trabonzapor in Turkey in January for 7m before Torres got injured. Perhaps, just perhaps ... This Mata money will be used to try and make a play for a world-class striker in January. Cavani?

I know it's just me adding 2 plus 2 to get 5 but I try to remain optimistic ...

I don't think the most ardent United fan began considering a repeat of such unbridled success before Moyes was even appointed. I'm sure that they would fully acknowledge the need for time to pass, and weather whatever failures would come before it.

Which is exactly what I asserted initially in the post you quoted me in the beginning that 'it will take some time for United to go back to what they once were' ... Or it may not happen at all. Fergie was one of the greatest managers around after all and anyone will have a hard time filling his shoes

The reactions on here are hilarious. If you can't understand why Mata has been sold and Salah is coming in then you need help. The only problem here is that Juan is going to United.

Any other team and I would be happy but with Mata going to United, it's always going to leave a sour taste.

I think most people here were happy for us to sell Mata if Jose wasn't going to use him where he could be effective, which looked the case.

Saleh coming in is a waste of money. He's undoubtedly got a lot of potential and he's definitely a Jose sort of player, but we could have recalled Moses if we wanted a hard-working winger for squad depth. Instead we appear to have spunked 16m euros on Saleh. That leaves us with a lot less left for the elite central midfielder/striker a lot of us were hoping for. We'll have to wait until the end of the window but if we've sold Mata to buy Saleh+ Zouma, that's pretty **** business on our part.

Do you guys think Mou might switch to 4-3-3? especially since reading guarin might come in

We're by no means title challengers, Top 4 would probably be punching above our weight to be honest.

Is there a recall clause in Moses's loan contract?

I would usually agree with that but I don't think Moses has any real future at the club. Considering the amount of times Mourinho has been banging on about having a left footed right winger, and that the only player we have on our books that fits that mould is the inexperienced Bertrand Traore, it isn't bad business at all.

Find it funny everyone is writing Salah off just because they are bitter mata is leaving! I'm upset about mata too but give young Salah a chance and I don't class him as matas replacement they are two completely different attacking midfielders. Also anyone saying he isn't good enough for Chelsea well he is still only 21 so plenty of time to improve further plus I bet most if not all people writing him off haven't even seen the boy play.

It would if we weren't selling him to United.

A lot of people were consoling themselves with the prospect of us getting a word class player with the money, not squad depth. If we're selling Mata to United so we can buy Zouma and Salah, people are going to be seriously ****** off.[/QUOTE

If Utd are the only side willing to overpay then so be it! Will they become better than us? No course they won't!

Carl............................ Stop accepting everything Mourinho does.

And why? Because majority of the time he is right! Was you one of the ones slating him for starting Eto'o Sunday?

When RVP was sold to United, I'm sure Carl said 'OMG, ONLY ARSENAL CAN DO THAT', but now, when we are about to do the same mental thing Arsenal did (and will probably do it) -- 'MAKES SENSE TO ME' ; 'WELL, IT MUST, CUZ JOSE IS DOING IT'

When Arsenal sold RVP i couldn't care less.

Never sell your best player to a rival, what are you trying to say? Sell him to PSG/Monaco/Italy/Spain/Germany/wherever the ****.

Difference is he is no longer our best player, especially in this system.

This is getting ridiculous to be fair, i thought most people on here were switched on. Mata has hardly played in the last month or so and when he has we have not been as good. There is no way Mata will be able to adapt to the way Jose wants to play ever. If Mata stayed until the summer getting splinters in his **** for another 6 months, misses out on the world cup his value halves in that 6 months without a doubt. Whether its Utd, Barca or PSG who are willing to over pay for Mata it has to be accepted. No club in world football ever has and ever will reject ?40million for a sub who will continue being a sub in the future. This club has lost far better and more influential players than Mata.

It's not even believing Jose is right with this i am seeing it with my own eyes and actually predicted Mata could very well leave way back in the summer so this has not surprised me! Football as much as we don't like to admit it is a business these days and Utd are the only side willing to pay over the odds. Yes its frustrating but that's football, we will/have signed players in positions we actually need so yes Utd have been strengthened but so have we.

I mean if we were getting Rooney then at least I would have been ambivalent to this transfer but no ... We are bending over for a club who ****** up our summer transfer plans by completely stonewalling us for Rooney and forcing us to bring in a 32 y/old from Russia. Seriously wtf

Trust Chelsea to screw things up when for once in a long time, things were looking close to perfect

The same 32 year old who just recently scored a hat-trick against Utd and has only 3 goals less than Rooney so far?

Yeah I don't know why y'all are blaming Jose. This is Roman and the board making the deal more then anything else. I have very little doubt that Jose would'nt mind to buy half the Prem and have them shoveling sand around Stamford Bridge as long as it helped winning trophies. But that's not how the world works.

You'll have a hard time convincing board that you need 37 milion sub, even if your name is Mourinho.

Nobody is saying that we shouldn't sell Mata, but why did we need to sell him to United? Yes we got more money than most would be willing to pay him but we don't need it. It would have been much better for us to sell him for less in the summer and take a small loss to screw United over. The only reason it would be sensible to sell him to those ******* if we reinvest that money now into a big player.
