In theory, its great, but in practice, it's ******* ****.
I am playing as Palermo. An average 4 star team. The last 4 games I have played, or attempted to play, have been: Barca, Barca, Chelsea, Real Madrid. Before that I have played teams like Germany/Brazil/United, and they ******* rape me. Now I appreciate the game wants to find you the quickest possible game, but I don't fuking want to keep playing 5 star teams. It is a complete pile of **** that you get paired up against someone, who has a player in every position 7-15 ratings higher than your own. Ronaldo can ******* walk past my 74 rated CB, he doesn't stand a chance. Now with this relegation and promotion bollocks, it's even more important to not lose games, and when you keep getting stuck against players that have a team that is so much better than you, and over powered players like Messi/Ronaldo, it renders the new feature pointless, I could do that in Fifa 11, if I wanted to, if I didn't I could keep searching till I found someone willing to play with a 4 star team.
Some of the changes EA have made are just stupid. H2H is a complete **** up imo, the new league system is fine, I don't have a problem with that, but when you're getting screwed over in the team selection, it just renders the whole league system pointless.
Anyway, apart from that slight rant, I am back to enjoying H2H on and off, I had a nice 8 or so win streak over yesterday and today, lost it earlier though, nearly in league 7, but I keep drawing big teams and drawing/losing, so unlikely I will get promoted this season. Meh. Current record stands at 13W-2D-5L. (one being a disconnect as well, as my controller died during a game I was 3-1 up in, had to DC to go to town and buy a new controller, fml.)
It's getting beyond a joke now. I think I am going to just have to play as 5 star teams, which I hate. Keep getting 5 star teams, since my last post, Real madrid and Brazil.

After playing FIFA 12 for an extended period of time, it begins to feel like a culmination of EA's recent refinement of its football series. Since 2008, FIFA has improved in increments-- tweaking, polishing, never looking back but maybe playing a little safe. FIFA 12 is a more forceful step forward, with confidence breeding commitment to change. The clunky old UI has been torn up and streamlined into something altogether slicker, a handful of new modes have been added, while the action has been made more physical and tactical at both ends of the pitch.
The transition isn't completely painless, however. Even for FIFA veterans, bedding yourself into 12's nuances is a tricky business. The most radical overhaul is in defence, with the focus lying heavily on positioning and containment. Winning the ball is no longer a case of whipping your centre half out of position, holding A and watching him nick the ball from an attacker's feet. Standing tackles require a precise button press which, if mistimed, can leave your defender stumbling on the 18 yard line while a gaping hole opens in your back line. Now it's absolutely crucial that you keep your shape, keep your patience and make sure any attackers are correctly marshalled. Opponents can be pushed or pulled in order to slow them up, and you can hold down the right bumper to call a teammate out to jockey the ball-carrier. This being preferable to yanking your controlled player out of position and leaving exploitable gaps.
Those are the mechanics, but the ruminations go beyond control tweaks. The opposing AI is vastly improved, with players ruthlessly exposing gaps, moving into smarter positions and making far more intelligent choices in the final third. The physics system has been overhauled too, players clashing and wrestling for the ball with more bite and realism.
Realism. That's the byword. The changes in defence are the most apparent, but the effects of the various tweaks to FIFA spread across the entire pitch. With defences so well drilled, attacking takes on a different dynamic. Time will tell if obvious exploits reveal themselves, but in my experience goals were more varied than they've ever been, demanding differing approaches. And with opponent AI far more likely to stick one in your net, there's far more cut and thrust to FIFA 12's singleplayer matches.
In chasing the golden carrot of authenticity, however, you could argue FIFA has sacrificed accessibility. The fact you can switch to the old form of defending is perhaps a concession to this, but across the board FIFA 12 is far more complex and difficult than its predecessors. How you react to this will probably define your experience with the new game. If you're willing to put the effort into mastering the new system, the satisfaction is greater than its ever been. Because make no mistake, at its best FIFA 12 is magnificent.
This is particularly prevalent in human competition, where the unpredictability leads to fabulous back and forths. However, singleplayer has its fair share of improvements. As well as the obvious boost to AI, team and division choices throw up differing experiences. Playing as my beloved Watford, the clumping, often clumsy physicality of The Championship was obvious --aside from the odd drubbing at the hand of a classier West Ham-- while jumping up a league to control Chelsea or Manchester City offered a deliciously fluid game of football. Each team feels more individual, with FIFA 12 conveying more character.
This filters into the career mode. While the shell of the main singleplayer mode remains largely --and perhaps disappointingly-- familiar, there have been notable improvements. Players will now ask to be rested, or demand to see more first team action, and your response will affect their morale. Unhappy players will demand a transfer, which can lead to sly gamesmanship from rival clubs, bidding low in order to further unsettle your squad. It's not quite Football Manager, of course, but there's more nuance to the transfer system and man management. Transfer deadline day is now handled in an hour by hour countdown, and can be surprisingly exciting if you're desperately trying to bolster your team as the clock ticks down. Youth players also grow at a faster rate, meaning you don't have to play youngsters in every match to see improvement. Tying into this player development is a scouting network, where you can hire scouts to hunt out hot prospects. Career mode is far more involved this year, even if there is still room for improvement. The hub in career mode has been largely untouched and remains a clunky old thing, while it's still disappointing that playing as a manager or as a 'Be A Pro' player offers such similar experiences.

New this year is the EA Sports Football Club, which is essentially a type of social network, taking cues from Need for Speed's brilliant autolog. When first booting up FIFA 12, you're asked to select the real-life club you want to support. Then everything you do in FIFA 12 --regardless of team choice or game mode-- will earn points for your club. These points are then totted up into an average from each supporter, and your selected team will move up and down the EAFC leagues. It's a lovely addition, with the EAFC hub showing you how you're performing against your friends. EA will also provide regular challenges from real life that can earn you extra points on completion. For example, the early access challenge was guiding Chelsea to a win from 3-1 down against Manchester United, changing the fortunes of their recent Premier League clash.
Usually paid-for DLC, the fantasy football-esque Ultimate Team now comes on the disc. While online, there's the new head-to-head leagues, where you play 10 games in a 'season' and are promoted or relegated according to your performance.
The startling wealth of content FIFA 12 provides is geared towards total investment from its players. And it works. It's a terrific example of this new breed of "always connected" video game, constantly pulling you into just one more go, demanding commitment but generous in its rewards. Which is true of the on-pitch action too. There may be teething problems in adjusting to its nuances, and there's certainly room for refinement, but FIFA 12 is unquestionably a change for the better. There's still potential for an even more improved game of football then, but this is a huge stride to fulfilling it.

It's amazing how you liked the Demo but hate the full game, but I hated the demo and love the full :S
To be fair, I don't play against the computer unless it's the demo. With the demo, I don't care if I win or lose, as it's only a demo, so I don't really care about some of the massive faults in the game. Bring it to online play, it's just so ******* frustrating when you are playing someone with the skill of a badger with alzheimer's, and all you can do is hit the bar 50 times, have the keeper save 50 1v1, get smashed all over the pitch and get no free kicks, for him to have one attack, fall over in the box when I don't even press any buttons, and he gets a penalty and wins the game? I mean, where is the fun in that. I know it happens in real life every so often, but not as often as it does in fifa. I have spells, where I am able to win most the games I play, you know, things go well, and then when I pass playing 5 games for the day or so, I just can't do anything other than lose, I am stuck playing teams who have a star or more rating than me, and when I do finally get a team my level, I steamroll them, but can't score and then get cunted in the last minute.

Every game has its faults but you come across as a sore loser..
Enjoying 12 to be honest, the close control and new defending adds for some great games.
I don't have an issue with losing, when it's a viable result. If someone is better than me, then fair play, that's life, part and parcel of the game.
What I do have an issue with, is when you completely dominate a game, and then give away a penalty with a tackle that has happened countless times before in the middle of the pitch, and not been a foul, and then suddenly, you have the same thing happen in the area, and it's not a penalty. If I could, I would love to replay every foul for you, just to prove this point, but you can't online.
Also, once you try the new matchmaking system with a 4 star team and have to come up against Messi or Ronaldo every game, or even Rooney/Neymar/Ribery/Robben, with your 74 rated defenders, then let me know how you feel. I imagine you will feel pretty ****** off, sure, it's easy enough in the lower leagues against the ******* retarded people, but once you get past that stage into the leagues where the players actually have a grasp of football knowledge, the difference in ratings makes a huge difference. Ronaldo can actually skip, flick, juggle, even ******* dance, through a 4* defence. I am actually pretty handy with the new defending, and half the time I can't even get close. Twin that with the overpowered defenders the big teams have, then you will get completely ******. Look at Brazil for example. Defence you have: Cruz in Goal, Dani Alvez, Lucio, Thiago Silva, Maicon (while not a LB, often people online play him there), now, that defence is quick, strong and tall in the middle. When you have small pacey forwards, they out pace you, with ease, even with Palermo who have 3 quick forwards with over 90 Accel, you still can't outpace them. Twin that with Robinho, Neymar and Pato upfront, who all are quick as ****, dribble like the ball is stuck to their foot, apparently awesome in the air, then you have a hard time dealing with them when all they have to do is attempt a skill move, lose the marker, and your 75 rated keeper has about as much chance as a drilldo at a lesbian convention.
At the end of the day, the game is good, no doubt. They just need to fix H2H, there was nothing wrong with it. Let people choose 5 star teams, but if they do, give me the option to use a 5* team also, I don't want to have to go into every game with a 5* team, just to stand a chance. I like playing with lower star teams, it takes more skill, you can't just dance/prance/ponce your way all the way to the goal, you need to pass and move, but when every player on the other team has a pace advantage over you, it's a rather fruitless endeavour.
Now you may say 'oh, this is part and parcel of being a mediocre team, you have to play better teams every so often', well yes, obviously, but this isn't real life, there isn't a set structure that you have to play to, so making the games equal makes sense, so it's more about the players skill, rather than who can do the most backheel turns with Ronaldo or Messi.
Although, granted I am a bit sour about the whole thing, getting my rank up, winning games against 5* teams, losing games against 5* teams, even playing the odd 4.5* team here and there, but it gets to a point where you reach people of a similar ability to you, and you would hope the game would give you a fair playing field, giving both people a good chance of winning, but alas, that is not the case.
When you get the game, feel free to message me on Xbox, we can set up a game, we can either do you as a 5* team and me as a 4* team, but to actually get my point across, it may be more viable to do it the other way around, so you can actually see the massive gulf in class that one star holds.
To be fair, I was in a similar mood after winning 8 in a row lol. That included a few games against 5* teams, but in the league level 9, so the opponents weren't very hard. Even in League 8, the gulf in class is quite noticeable, even after winning my first three games, so I am (luckily) safe from relegation.I imagine once more people get the game, it will be easier to climb the leagues. Well.. hopefully it is anyway.

It will be it was the same system for the last few years on PES, once there are more people playing its easier to get promotion.
