2015/16 Season Review

Premier League
View attachment 291395

Probably could have done a bit better here, we were way too inconsistent. However, I will be solidifying my squad over the summer so I hope I can have a better season next time.

FA Cup

Didn't go too well but I did have a tough draw in fairness.

League Cup

Was looking to go all the way here but unfortunately we suffered a disappointing defeat. This is what happened for a lot of the season- great wins (vs Man City, etc) and silly defeats (West Brom, Burnley).

CL

Good effort for our first season in the Champions League.

So overall, slight "Second Season Syndrome" after such a great season last time, but not too disappointed with it. I hope we can qualify for Europe next season and win a trophy, that would be ideal.

And one more thing... I remembered the last time I reshuffled the squad, and that went very well. Lets hope I can do it again!

I'm bored of not having the national side to manage as well so I'm going to attempt my cheat to get the job.

lol at least you are honest about it. I guess it is fine, but you are only going to get half points.

For What? Employment or the whole thing? If it is the whole thing then it isn't really fair since the guys who start as it get full points.

Going to try again before I give up though.
If this doesn't work, I'm going to report it as a bug to SI. Although I might place myself as U21s manager first to see if that makes a difference.

We'll discuss, perhaps you wouldn't get any points for getting the job and the rest would just run as they would if you started as the wales manager.

My finances may be poor at the moment (not for much longer though) but I managed to persuade the board that better Junior Coaching is essential to success:

On the youth front with Ademilson out for the rest of the season Jack Walsh is playing in the first team regularly. He has made a slow start but in the last match he won the Man of the Match award and smashed Wolfsburg to pieces. Gavin Fayers is out on loan to Sheffield United on a three month deal. It's a great deal since he gets League 1 football and the facilities are just as good. A young lad called Marc Reed has been developing well and may make it. While Daniel Saunders and Rob Russell have been getting some loan action as well.

Also is it just me or are Rob Russell and Jack Walsh clones of each other? I could do with two Walsh's.

I have a Walsh that you would probably like:

Long time since i updated, but wanted to reach the Premier before... I`ve had decent progress i guess, but would like to reach premier, and everything looked good, was third for awhile when my tactic started to fail, switched alot (got 3 different i rotated) but no success, so ended up in 10`th place, which when i think about it is really nice.

Can post some screenies. Won League 2, Won league 1, played badly in turneys :(

Did the mistake of buying The Racecourse Ground for 75 mil, which really was a setback to my economy, should have waited for that until premier or something.

Some other info of my squad:

Here are 3 of the best players at the club, may not be worth that much on paper, but they are gold to me and Wrexham.

View attachment 291850

Ross Birch just made it to the first team this year, been on loan to Chester (had a great season, got a Wales cap when he was 17, then had a not so good loan to Notts C) He is developed at the club and seems very promising.

Sphamandla was perhaps the first good regen i could find, and amazingly i got him signed. He`s very entertaining but perhaps a bit unstable. ^^

There are some clubs i send my scouts to each year, Shelbourne, Cliftonville and Bohemians. I just love these allmost for free players which develop into great players!

So aiming for Playoff for Premier this year, hopefully we will get it!

Your Walsh is great Kezza.

On another note I've had a youth intake and an important question for you guys. I can't make up my mind so I want your help. Here's my assistants rating of the intake:

Now then here is the stars of the intake:
View attachment 291857View attachment 291858
I have high hopes for Bishop. Hopefully I can have two Ramseys! But with Melville I can't tell if he's better, worse or similar to Walsh. I can't even tell which has a better personality. Walsh is 'fairly determined' while Melville is 'professional'. I don't even know how to use Walsh now since I wanted him as a striker but if Melville is better I think he should move out wide since I play with a lone striker and two widemen.
Also training advice would be appreciated on Bishop.

Now then, time to raid Cardiff.

Both are worth signing. As for making it into your first team neither are ready for that at the moment. Maybe train Walsh as a winger but if he is your best striker keep him up top for now. Melville is young and will take a good couple of years to progress. Both are talented and very mold-able. Get them working on their key attributes. As for Melville being better than Walsh that is tough, we'd need to see them side by side at the same age, your facils have drastically improved since Walsh went through them so all I can say is that I think Melville may turn out to be better.

My own update:

League win, had amazing away form, struggled at home, hopefully the pitch adjustment will help. As you can see 1st and 2nd in league 1 were also the same two teams that finished 1st and 2nd in league 2 the year before!
JPT win, was my goal from the start really wanted to win some silverware outside of league trophies for the fans.
View attachment 291884
Won the Manager of the year award. Was quite happy with that one!

Nicky Gibson cleaning up the rest. What a player.

Me too, did it whilst in league1 big mistake drastically hurt my finances for the next season. Although they almost doubled my wage bill this season still no transfer budget though!

Thanks for the advice Faulky. I think Walsh was slightly better when he was Melville's age but he may have been one of the older regens. My scouts initial rating of Walsh is higher than Melville's as well but the stats were similar so I thought they might not be so different.

What do you think of training Melville to play out wide? I think he may play better out wide than Walsh.

I said Walsh in my reply but I meant Melville. Train Melville as the winger and leave Walsh up top.

Some player updates. Had some good fortune in the off season and snapped up some very quality Championship players to tag along with my steadily developing young team:
