I play a 4-1-2-2-1 with Insideforwards, what kind of duties/roles should it be for the striker while the IFs have Attack
 
i think you want your IF as support and a complete forward,advance forward or poacher in attack.
 
Got a good tactic going for home games which is basically slow control short passing game. Don't seem to cut down other teams attempts though...

Can anyone give me some high level suggestions of what area I need to look at?

This requires far more information to answer properly.
 
To be far I rushed that question. Here it is in more detail...

I play a 4-2-2-2 formation at home. Limited defender with a centre back covering. Two wing backs both auto, BWM and AP with two attacking wingers, DLF and Poacher.

I have slow tempo, hassle opponents, retain possession, look for overlap, short passing game.

My attacking players have a more direct passing style instruction.

I create 20+ chances a game, generally score 2 to 3 a game however the oppo has around 5-8 attempts and normally scores 1-2 goals. Usually from a variety of ways.

I realise said cut down attempts, I should have put down cut down goals.

Possession is good, about 55-58% most games.

High Defensive Line .

I prefer playing a very high defensive line , but whenever i do so the opponents are easily exploiting it .
easy through balls , one on one and goal .
Any advice on what arrangements to i need to have in my tactic to prevent my high defensive line being exploited ?

I would probably say you need to use high pressing, in order to close down the opposition before they get a chance to play a ball in behind your back line.
 
Passing accuracy

I'm having trouble getting my players to complete a high percentage of their passes.

I'm playing as Arsenal. I started off playing a 4-2-3-1 with a DLP and B2B at the base of midfield, Ozil as an AP in front of them, Cazorla as an IF on the left, Walcott as a winger on the right and Giroud as a TM.

Set the team instructions to Control and fluid, with all the shouts that I thought would make the team play a possession game. I've mixed and matched them but the main ones I use are: Retain possession, short passing, work ball into box, look for overlap, play wider, hassle opponents and get stuck in.

I could not get over 55-60% possession in any game, and completed passes was always well under 80%, it even dipped as low as 67% in a game against Everton.

Tried upping the tempo, which made no difference. Tried pushing the defensive line up, no difference.

Tried switching formation to a Barca style 4-3-3, with a half back and two DLP's in front of him, 2 inside forwards out wide (Ozil and Cazorla) and a DLF. Still no difference, the team cannot retain possession and cannot pass accurately.

I've even gone into each individual players instructions and chosen "pass it shorter", "less risky passes" etc to no avail.

What else can I do to make them pass accurately and keep the ball?
 
I would reduce the width, as that means the players will be further apart and the passes will become too long to be precise enough and lower the tempo.

My all mids are set to close down more and i have hassle opponents in team instructions .
Playing with high defensive line most of the times i notice that most of my players close down there is space left behing , the opponent attacker makes a run and a through ball is played to him and a CCC .
How to cope with this

What roles do you play your defenders on? Any one of them with Cover duty?
 
does it benefit a team it there's more than one player having "dictates tempo" PPM other than the playmaker ?
 
Can anyone help me please. How do you download the tactics and then transfer it to the game? I'm absolutely hopeless with computers so any help would be most appreciated.
 
You download it to C:/Users/(whatever is your user name here)/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2014/tactics

Then in the tactics you go to "archived tactics".

This is a generic screen shot but mine isn't too dissimilar apart from a bit older and +1/2 on a few stats and trained in MC. He's such an engima. I think mine is on the high end of his varied potential as my 20/20 scouts are all giving him 5 star potential which is exciting.

Currently thinking of training him as a defensive playmaker taking advantage of his insane creative stats combined with his great tackling and physicals but he also has great finishing which I've seen can get up to the 17 range and he could be a handful up the other end of the pitch. I'm pretty stacked with attacking talent already 3rd season in Mitrovic, Bakkali, Depay, Quintero, Maher, Vydra and Barbosa with a couple youth team players so wouldn't mind him playing deeper.
 
Normally my board confidence resets to stable at start of every new season. This season it is stayed as it was last season. Is this an update from New patch or am I just lucky?
 
I have a question in regards to player's and their roles/duties. If I make a formation based off player's best roles an their specific duty, is this a smart idea?
 
I need help.....:-/ I have two stickers in lukaku and mitrovic and they just cant score, between them 15 games without scoring?

Please help. My formation is 4231.
