The Liverpool Thread

Can’t go wrong on the pitch starting with a home draw in the Cup.

But as a supporter, utterly flat and uninspiring. Doesn’t get much more boring than Wolves at home.

But it gets the Cup defence up and running so we’ll take it.

Excellent, thought provoking read that totally encompasses where a lot of us are with the game.

Forgetting the ‘70’s, and ‘82 being the first one I can really remember, not watching a second of a WC for the first time in my life being another topical example.

Derby County you say? In the third round of the League Cup you just happen to be defending ..... YES PLEASE!!!!!

This is, like those other East Midlands *****, a PROPER, hate filled rivalry game.

Which probably leaves loads of the Sky generation scratching their heads like 'Derby? We never play Derby? Just how in the World ..... ?' ...... But hose the know, who lived through what was one of the fiercest rivalry's of the '70's and '80's, KNOW! And have never forgotten over time.

I'll be honest and say anyone else outside of Everton, United, City or Forest, and I've of sacked this off, stood the minimal £14, and been sat at home nice and warm tomorrow evening. But this is Derby F County! And the memory's and wounds run deep! From Roger F Davis ruining my young life listening to Alan Parry on the radio as the mighty Reds were humbled 1-0 at that monstrosity of a shithole, the arl Baseball Ground, in the third round of the FA Cup. Through being in with them down the side the 7-1, rumbled after the 5th or so in the second half when we thought 'F it!', only for the biggest of big mining groks to tell us, with a late corner, if we scored again we weren't getting out alive ...... To which Razor Houghton duly did .... que three young scals up over the wall and legging it across the pitch into our end and safety. Even made the MOTD cameras that night and got scolded off me Ma haha ..... Which was, by the way, one of the worst ends in football. The Osmaston terrace ..... You went in through the narrowest of bottle necks with them lashing everything over the divide. To then have them doing the same all game from the seats above as everything reigned down on yer ..... Derby was always one massive battle on and off the pitch and the hatred ran deep. Not just from this team of East Midlands upstarts seriously challenging our dominance, under one of the most despicable human beings imaginable who went on to be our arch-nemesis at Forest. (May he currently be burning in ****. Very, VERY slowly!), But them being the complete polar opposite of ourselves. From their dress sense that was always 20-years in the past. To the lil' Englander, Nationalistic, anti-foreigner, anti-socialist, now Brexit, rhetoric. Never the twain shall meet, And it NEVER did.

Bring on tomorrow night and putting the inbred ***** back in their box. I sincerely hope they continue falling through the leagues. With Forest joining them! How did you deal with this problem? I've been trying to work with different website development clients for several years. And then every time one of these ads pops up. I thought that someone was looking for similar requests, and targeting advertising works that way, but I have a blocker. It feels like the embedded advertising (you click and the window appears) reads this as a manual search. And then gives out such "news". Recently saw spin casino redeem loyalty points news. I clicked on the link, and I was not bothered by the advertising. That is, if you yourself click, everything is OK, but how to deal with intrusive advertising? What have you done?

And Roger Davis is STILL an A1 ........

You`re right, thanks

29 days without any football doesn’t seem long. And in truth, it’s been brilliant in so far as the break was as sorely needed for ourselves as it was for the players. Aside from the financial side of things with last years mammoth season more or leas rolling straight into this one, it physically and mentally drains you. And, speaking personally, I needed the break as my head just hasn’t been right since Paris. Which I was noticing more the more the first few months went. The appetite and enthusiasm just wasn’t the same yanno’? It was more going because thats ‘what we do.’ So the last month off away from watching any football has been a God send and worked wonders for my demeanour.

All that said, a month and a day without any L’pool football, during the season, which is a mad enough disgrace by itself, is a LONG stretch to get through. So I really enjoyed that opportunity to see the Reds back at what they do best. Not even fussed about the typical pre-season fair and the mistakes there-in that lead to a ’meh’ defeat. It just brings City that bit closer knowing the boys are back at it and ‘proper’ football has now returned.

Absolutely superb to see Matip, Keita and Oxo-Chambo back playing in a L’pool game BTW ….

….. The absolute scenes when Naby Lad puts pen to paper on the contract they’ve offered him. 👀👀🤣🤣

It’s good to be back!

UTR! FTT!!!!!

So, I finally managed to sit down this avvy and watch yesterdays thumping of Milan.

With the usual caveat of it being a pre-season kick-about-

First off, I did not know Sinisa Mihajlovic had sadly lost his battle with leukaemia yesterday at only 53 before watching the game and the silence prior/ players wearing armband’s.

From left winger through LB and then sweeper, excelling both ends of the pitch, he was a super player and set-piece taker extraordinaire with his wand of a left peg. Loved watching him on Football Italia on C4 the ‘90’s when Serie A was THE league in World football.

Sad loss. God rest.

Nice way to round out 12 great days of intense training and good PR work out in Dubai. Setting things up perfectly now for the best possible game to start the ‘new’ season with on Thursday evening against City.

More match fitness back in the legs as players went longer than the first game. And, like any other pre-season, the difference with another 5 days work from last Sunday’s Lyon game was very visible. Very sharp, crisp, inventive attacking play. And good shape and pressing. And the continuity in all that was real pleasing to see when changes were made. They pretty much controlled both games and look fully refreshed and raring to go to attack everything from this weeks restart in what’s fixing to be a real exciting second half of the season. Through which I’m fully expecting a top 2 finish and serious assaults in both cup defences and Europe personally.

I’d imagine, with only 2 changes between both starting XI’s, and this being the bulk of the squad they’ve had since we came back, the starting XI against City pretty much picks itself-

Kelleher
Milner, JMG, Matip, AndyRobbo
Bajetic, who yet again looked every bit like he belongs here. Just like Tyler Morton, another big part of our future. Neither are the quickest. But neither need to be as both play with their heads up, getting their body positioning right to both receive the ball and be on the front foot for the move after that. So composed and intelligent at just 18, he really is an exciting prospect. More than earned the 6 role against City to the point you aren’t concerned at all with him in such a massive game. Just does his job in a real tidy fashion, dropping in and covering teammates to facilitate them. Whilst always looking to dictate the play and start attacks
Elliott and Thiago.
Mo, Bobby and Darwin.

With some real experience and exciting youth on the bench. (I won’t get into Ben Doak's ridiculous talent at just turned 17 to name check one of them or I’ll be gushing all night.😍).

That's one really strong XI to be returning with in our LC defence.

All the best City and everyone else.

The Reds are ready!
