It never was, which is why Swansea are livid. Liverpool are spinning it like its a done deal.

As I said, we haven't even made a bid yet, we're just interested.

Also, we don't have as much money to spend as people think, we may have to see before we can buy, hence why Carroll seems to be going, doesn't fit into Rodgers style, money will be used to buy a few players who will be.

Liverpool had about £25million, plus whatever they recoup in sales. This was before Borini was bought. They also have little room to work in wage wise.

25 Million plus player sales is more than enough to be competitive, but its also the reason why i very much doubt we'll compete for the league again for a very long time, too much financial difference between us and the top teams

Liverpool: Gulacsi, McLaughlin, Skrtel, Carragher, Enrique, Spearing, Shelvey, Aquilani, Cole, Eccleston, Sterling.
Subs: Jones, Agger, Flanagan, Adam, Suso, Morgan, Pacheco, Sama, Wilson, Lucas, Adorjan, Ward, Smith, Wisdom, Ibe.

Interesting to see how we do tonight against better opposition!

Roma dominating early play,

LFC should have had a penality through a handball

Roma just had a 1v1 after Spearing gave the ball to their attacker, Missed though.

Been a fairly even game, but the extra bit of quality for Roma in the final third has shown

both had chances but Roma have took theirs!

will be interesting to see our first match with our first team out, especially attacking wise, as its basically reserves playing in the front 3

Been expecting a bit more passing football from our matches to be honest. I know it's very early days, but it doesn't even seem like we're trying to do that? Pachecho's been great, hope he gets more game time, deserves it more than Downing/Aquilani, etc. Shelvey's been good too.

gotta remember its our reserves basically playing, obviously want be as good as others to play it,

Roma are also closing us down massively, Gulacsi/Jones panic alittle and hit it long, where as Reina imo would be more composed

nice goal from Adam, and great awareness from Pacheco to set him up.
Once upon a time Pacheco was the next big thing, he looked amazing, then went off the boil, looking **** good now though.

Was a good goal, Never rated Pacheco, just dont think he can step up to the first team.. would love to be wrong but only time will tell

Really?! Even when he destroyed every team in the reserves, constantly, and scored screamers from everywhere? Or when he went to Norwich on loan and tore it up there too?! Or when he made his 'pool debut vs Fiorentina and nearly scored within 2 minutes?!?"

Tore it up in all of his 6 games at Norwich..

Yea as a reserve he shown great promise but i still never got the impression he could do it for the first team, seemed to look too nervous whenever he has played for the first team

Interesting game last night. Eccleston, Spearing, Enrique, and Wilson were the only real let downs for me. Wilson didn't take charge of that left flank at all once he came on, him and Pachecho were all over the place when trying to defend against attacks from that side, it was painful to watch.

[h=1]Swansea angry with Liverpool over pursuit of Joe Allen[/h]• Swans agreement broken over Brendan Rodgers switch
• Anfield hope to exploit release clause in Allen's four-year deal

Swansea City have accused Liverpool of reneging on a written agreement not to approach their players and insist they are under no pressure to sell Joe Allen for under £15m.
The Welsh midfielder has been the subject of an Anfield enquiry, believed to be £10m plus Jonjo Shelvey on a season-long loan, despite the terms of Brendan Rodgers' exit from the Liberty Stadium to Liverpool supposedly preventing him signing Swansea players for the next 12 months.
Liverpool hope to exploit a technicality to sign the 22-year-old, who has a clause in the four-year contract he signed last season that allows a move to join one of five leading clubs for £15m. Swansea are also incensed that details of Allen's contract have been made public.
A club spokesman said: "Swansea City can confirm that Liverpool have expressed an interest in Joe Allen, despite a written agreement with Liverpool not to approach any players within the 12-month period of former manager Brendan Rodgers leaving for Anfield. There has also been interest from other clubs regarding his possible availability and the club is due to speak to Joe, as originally planned, about the situation when he returns from GB duty.
"The club is not prepared to release any details on whether any formal bids have been made at this stage or details of Joe's contract, which are private and confidential. The club is extremely disappointed that speculation regarding certain aspects of his contract have been released to the media by parties outside the club."
It had been claimed that Swansea would be unable to resist a £10m offer for Allen but the spokesman added: "Fortunately the club is in a financial position where it does not need to sell any of its players and will continue to work in the best interests of its supporters, who are our priority, and the club to provide new manager Michael Laudrup with the best opportunity to be successful in the forthcoming Premier League campaign."
