I wouldn’t like to admit that either ToD If Utd had the best attack in Europe, went and added two top drawer midfielders, are about to add a 20-goal-a-season midfielder. All after only needing a top drawer goalkeeper to the first XI from what was missing last year to start with.

Alisson makes a one-horse-race into a two.

If the GK signs then Liverpool have had a really strong window (on paper at least)

But City smashed the league last year and scored 20 odd more goals than you. Remains to be seen if it was a freak super season but I still see City adding to their team well.

I hope you do challenge them but everything needs to fit pretty quickly to catch up the the standard City were last year

I'd hardly call Fekir a 20 goal a season midfielder if he's only done it once as a pro. Also a big call your making ruling out the rest of the top sides from a title run.

Exactly. It's pretty silly tbh to start saying who is going to be up against who right now. Window isn't closed and the league isn't won on paper

Just made me wonder what the difference in the table looked like last year, just had a look.

33 goal difference between City and Liverpool, that's a **** of a margin (and Liverpool were the closest in those terms! *edit, joint difference with United)

25 point gap is also huge.

As a passive watcher I'd love the other sides step up. Everything clicked for City last year and now they will be adding names and should have Gundogan and Mendy back from injury, they could play big roles. Oh and Laporte from the start of the season too

But he’s had that season. Very few if any midfielders doing that now. Forgot Shaqiri in that mix too.

Well, Chelsea and Arsenal I’d rule out right off the bat. Arsenal are shopping at the Europe League level. Chelsea are just beyond baffling waiting to change the manager until after pre-seasons started. A little over three weeks to try get his philosophy across before they start? A philosophy that’s the polar opposite to the last fella and is gona’ take a good whiles regardless to start kicking in. Before you even get to the key players that may well leave. And unless your fella’ changes his outlook I don’t see Utd as any serious threat. Which is to his detriment as he has the players to be doing what L’pool and City are doing. But let’s leave that there as it always ends in bad words whenever he’s questioned from some and we don’t need that again.

Whilst we’ve just come off a CL Final, setting records all over in a CL season, being the one team City can’t go head-to-head against.

Just realised I neglected Tottenham but then they’ve never been a threat and never will be.

Good luck to them with their opening sides with all the players they have who won’t be ready after going so deep the WC.

City will win the league unless the rest of the league understand that lying down before the game has started is not a viable strategy in beating a Pep team that can be got at defensively.

Two of the big three, Firmino and Salah boxed off with 5 year extensions. With Sadio sat with a contract on the table.

Bonafied, top drawer DM finally added early in Fabinho. To go along with one of the most highly coveted and unique alround midfield talents in World football. Naby.

More quality, experienced, difference making talent Shaqiri swooped up in an absolute no-brainier buttons steal.

Now the only Achilles heal of this team FINALLY addressed in a de Gea difference maker between the sticks. SO good was his season in Rome last year.

And a top class midfield/ attacking talent looking highly likely to follow.

With nobody significant lost.

Statement and a half sent out.

How is Fekir looking likely RMC radio said not long ago the opposite. Allison was good last season but absolute ***** in the CL. Could go either way for him tbh. Pool and Utd fans should know this most regarding GKs. But also can’t wait for the league to start!

There you’re talking *****. He was a major part in Roma reaching their first semi since ‘84. And statistically he was off the charts in Serie A.

If you don’t think Fekir is close then your burying your head in the sand to everything to the contrary.

Kid wants it all too soon and leaves you not entirely sure if he’s fully committed here?

Mate, yers barely turned 18! Bit of patience for a few years as you develop and then there’s every chance you’ll be a 10 year L’pool #9.

Look at what’s happening at this club under Klopp mate and don’t get too greedy, too soon or you’ll miss out on all that.

Great news for us but not for Rhian imo. Any young English player in the premier league in general especially forward players is going to have a hard time breaking into the first team unless an injury occurs to a first-team player. It's just the nature of the beast that managers can barely plan for the long-term strategy in promoting youth when managers especially in the premier league most likely won't last the season. This is why you see German clubs who have DOF in place and can offer talented English youngsters a path to first-team football snapping up English youngsters. Speaking from his career point of view and taking off the LFC rose tinted glasses Rhian probably should have gone to Gladbach.

Nature of the beast indeed with the mega money stakes in the PL.

Playing youngsters is easier said than done and I don’t envy managers trying to balance it out. For someone like Klopp who we know looks at things on a 3/5 year ahead period whilst balancing up the here and now it must do his head in not being able to commit to youth the extent he could in Germany where the stakes are far less.

Easier said than done mate getting kids the side.

The PL right now, you have what:


6 clubs going for the top 4 spots- Sidenote: ANYONE that try’s to dismiss ANY club finishing/ being happy with a top 4 finish now is living in a COMPLETELY different dimension to reality. 6 into 4 just doesn’t go. And with all 6 on a similar level, the competition to just finish in those 4 slots is as intense and difficult as it’s ever been. Naturally you want to finish top of the pile and be Champions. But it’s a great achievement now to make the CL’s slots and not be one of the 2 massive clubs (at least) missing out every year.

You’ve one, maybe 2 clubs that are neither going down nor threatening the big 6. So they can relax and be comfortable every year. The blue_____ being one.

And then you’ve the bottom 12 clubs all vying to stay in the league.

Which all makes EVERY game VITAL. So it’s real hard to go throw in unproven kids with such mega financial stakes at play. Why Wilson, a wonderful talent, isn’t making our squad again this year and has today gone out to Derby for the year. As talented as he is, you’re gonna’ go with the experienced lad more often than not when you can’t afford to drop any points.


Getting a PL club to agree to our stipulations of the percentage of games our loanees have to play is highly unlikely when it comes to an unproven lad as a knock-on. And flair, attacking players tend to get even less chance as you noted than say a tough tackling worker like Grujic would if he goes back to Cardiff as is expected.


Real tricky balancing act for these managers with so much financial pressure at stake to find much of any game time for youngsters.

Usually, I would agree with you but Alisson performances over the whole season were De gea/Oblak etc... levels. He really was that good.

I never once said he wasn’t good. I just said he was poor in the CL compared to the league.
5 clean sheets in 12 I think conceding nearly 1.6 per game. Looked pretty ropy against You guys, Barca and Chelsea.
