Tottenham 2 V 3 Man Utd - Lennon, Akinfeev(OG), Gerrard, Ferdinand(2)

View attachment 36565

Man Utd gave Tottenham there biggest April Fools by lulling them into a self sense of security. Spurs were 2-0 up at half time but the exhilarated Red Devils appeared after half time re-energised and focused on the challenge at hand. Ferdinand scoring from two corner kicks to really ruin Tottenham’s day.

Chelsea 1 V 3 Man Utd - Lampard, Ferdinand, Dzeko, Gerrard

View attachment 36566View attachment 36561

The second leg of these two’s Champions League fixtures and Man Utd can still say they are unbeaten by their fiercest rivals. Ancelotti looked extremely upset with his side and reports even suggested that he ignored his team after the match and left the post match team talk to Ray Wilkins to deliver.

14/04/10

Man Utd 2 V 1 Tottenham - Dzeko(2), Defoe

View attachment 36564View attachment 36563

F.A cup day again and with Tottenham looking to extract some revenge from their last match against Man Utd they nearly did with Defoe striking a scorcher from 30 yards out. Edin Dzeko although, was again in red hot form scoring two goals of his own to further Mason’s side in the F.A cup.

18/04/10

Aston Villa 1 V 2 Man Utd - Carew, Lodeiro, Kompany

View attachment 36562

Aston Villa could hardly believe there luck when they saw Carews blatant offside goal awarded. Mason was furious and berated the fourth official. Luckily the Red Devils stayed calm and after half time Lodeiro and the goal shy Kompany scored to claim the three points.

23/04/10

Arsenal 1 V 1 Man Utd - Fabregas, Dzeko

View attachment 36559View attachment 36561

Man Utd were drawn against another English opponent in the Champions League, this time Arsenal who really should have won this match. Dzeko scored early on but that was about the only good thing Man Utd could walk away with from this match. Arsenal pumbled the Red Devils and scored themselves but could have had a lot more.

26/04/10

Man Utd 3 V 0 Burnley - Schneiderlin, Lodeiro, Agüero

View attachment 36560

Morgan Schneiderlin has been a fairly quiet entity at Man Utd this season but is somewhat of a silent hero. He sits just in front of the defence and makes goal saving tackles regularly. He can also score a good goal when in the right mood too. Many feel he is deserving of a first team start regularly but Mason would like to see a bit more from him first.

Man Utd
1 V 0 Arsenal - Villa

View attachment 36558View attachment 36561

Man Utd have made their way to the Champions League final. Thanks to an inspirational performance by David Villa. He ran half the length of the pitch to sublimely chip Almunia in the Arsenal goal. Old Trafford when into overdrive and after the match all the Man Utd players including the subs celebrated with the fans.

Overview

Man Utd have an exciting month to look forward to. They have the Champions League Final and the F.A Cup Final to play. Both those matches won’t be easy as they play Barcelona in the Champions League and Chelsea in the F.A Cup.

Mason has said that he is “relishing the chance” to put his team up against the two teams they‘ll meet.

Chelsea still haven’t beaten Man Utd this season and will want to win this match more than any other match they’ve played in this season. Barcelona are regarded as the best team in the world by many. But they will have their hands full against this Man Utd side who have excelled under Mason.

If Mason can walk away with the wins and the trophies from these two matches he will surely go down as a Man Utd legend and will forever be placed into the heart of the club.

Dzeko stated that if he played in either or both matches he would play with all his heart and soul. He would make sure Man Utd are remembered as the best and strongest team in the world. He also added that he want’s this club to be seen as the best in the world because he want’s to stay at Man Utd for as long as he could.

Dzeko who has had an amazing month in April has also just found out he will be among the candidates for footballer of the year along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand and Marquinhos from Man Utd.

“I feel delighted to be mentioned in the same breath as World Footballer Of The Year but I won’t be holding my breath as there are some wonderful beautifully gifted players up for the award who deserve it more than me.

Ferguson Proud Of Protégé
View attachment 36569

Man Utd legend and Assistant manager Sir Alex Ferguson has gushed about how much he admires and respects his young protégé Tobey Mason. Ferguson said “Mason has done fantastically well in his first year, I only wish I had done aswel. He will go on to become a legend at this club like Bobby Charlton and Sir Matt Busby are. I think his love for this club parallels on what my love for it is. We both live and breathe Manchester United.”

Ferguson also commented on "how well" Mason has done in the transfer markets this season. “Bringing in James Beattie was a master class, he is a very experienced player who knows the league well and helped the youngsters and some other players integrate into playing in the league. Ashley Young and Alexis Sánchez have been impeccable, although they were dearer to get, they have showed their class has no price. ‘Kiko’ Femenia and Morgan Schneiderlin have had good seasons but will be used more in the future”.

Chelsea 4 V 5 Man Utd - Drogba(2), Lampard(2), Messi(2), Villa, Terry, Beattie

Another clash of the titans ensured there was a goal fest at Stamford Bridge. Man Utd produced a display which not only suits them as champions but made sure Chelsea finished the season without a win against them. Lionel Messi was in world class form and shone throughout the match. Mason ‘jigged’ his way all over the touchline after the full time whistle.

10/05/10

Man Utd 3 V 0 Hull - Sánchez(3)

Man Utd ended the season as they started with an emphatic win. Alexis Sánchez showed why Mason paid so much for him by scoring a supreme hattrick for his club. After the match in broken English he proclaimed how happy he was at Man Utd.

Man Utd have once again pipped Chelsea to the win. The Wembley rafters were going crazy and a totally joyous day was bestowed to all the fans and neutrals out there. Chelsea went behind just after half time due to a Beattie header, Beattie looked ecstatic after scoring and went and celebrated with the Red Devils Faithful who have now taken him to their hearts.

Ronald killed the game off, scoring from a freekick given away by Mikel late on. The ball flew over the Chelsea wall and whistled into the net for all to hear in the silence and awe of the Wembley arena.

Mason was at bursting point and by the time the full time whistle went he was running around like a adolescent boy. He shook every player on the pitches hand and thanked the fans, even talking and celebrating with them in the crowd.

Champions League final day and it never failed to live up to the expectations a final of this calibre should live up to. Mason was seen nervously in the dug out, often figiting or pacing up and down the tochline. His heart must have broken after nine minutes as Barcelona took the lead deservedly so with some good possession play.

Two minutes later Mason along with the fans who had travelled to Spain jumped out of their seats as Marquinhos scored a cracker, taking advantage from a Puyol slip. Then less than ten minutes later Man Utd took the lead with Lionel Messi getting himself on the score sheet.

Things settled down and both teams struggled to hold on to possession up until the break.

After halftime though Man Utd ferociously assaulted Barcelona’s defence with Lodeiro leading the charge. He failed to get on the score sheet himself and even had a shot hit the upright which was then followed up by Villa who just couldn’t miss from 6 yards out.

By now the Red Devils fans were singing there team through the final stages on the match and with the Man Utd players looking tired it was Barcelona who were now attacking. Ibrahimovic even scored but the linesman correctly raised his flag and called it offside, much to the displeasure of the Barcelona fans.

When the full time whistle finally went Mason sportingly shook Pep Guarliola’s hand and surprisingly kept his emotions and celebrations rather low key. He said “ I wan’t to savour this moment forever it’s so surreal I just can’t believe it, I’m proud of all my players, my backroom staff and advisors. I will enjoy a very important night tonight and don’t want to spoil it by potentially going overboard.

I am really enjoying writing this story. Hope you're enjoying it too. If theres any tips or advice you could give me please do.

DEFENCE

Akinfeev

Appearences - 55
Goals Conceded - 26
Clean Sheets - 18
Mom's - 2
Average Rating - 7.35

Igor Akinfeev really has shown why he is regarded as one of the top goalkeeping talents out there. When the Man Utd defence slipped up he was always there to make a match winning save or close down the opponent before they got a shot in.

Santon
View attachment 37845

Appearences - 55
Goals - 1
Assists - 3
Mom's
- 0
Average Rating - 7.17

Davide Santon was the only available right back last season and played through fatigue and pain at times. Only young he has already made the rightback birth his own. Mason was really please with Davide and continually praised him at the end of season gala.

Ferdinand - (Vice Captain)
View attachment 37843

Appearences - 37
Goals - 4
Assists - 0
Mom's
- 2
Average Rating - 7.34

Rio Ferdinand led the backline like a lion at times, leading by example and commanding the whole squad when captain. He managed to score some important goals and was even involved in the team of the year.

Terry - (Captain)
View attachment 37844

Appearences - 38
Goals - 5
Assists - 3
Mom's
- 2
Average Rating - 7.24John Terry will always be remembered as Man Utd's rock at the back. When himself and Ferdinand played together at the back it left very little for the Man Utd goalkeeper to do. He sucked up stray balls and delivered through balls to the attack well.

Vidic
View attachment 37861
Appearences - 19
Goals - 1
Assists - 0
Mom's
- 0
Average Rating - 7.18

Nemanja Vidic played second fiddle to Terry and Ferdinand this campaign but said he was "looking foward to the challenge" of earning a regular first team slot next season. His defensive credentials were on display again and again.

Evra
View attachment 37842

Appearences - 26
Goals - 1
Assists - 2
Mom's
- 2
Average Rating - 7.28

Patrice Evra shared the left back role with Marcelo this year and Mason was pleased with the dual role they were involved with. Evra used his speed to deliver inch perfect crosses to feed the strikers. His pace really underpinned his performances and he'll do a good job again next year.

Marcelo
View attachment 37863

Appearences - 25
Goals - 0
Assists - 3
Mom's
- 0
Average Rating - 7.17

Marcelo looked assured in his shared role at left back often as attacking as Evra but perhaps a little to attacking at sometimes. If Man Utd were caught on the break sometimes a gap opened up in the Man Utd defence caused by his laid back approach and non urgent defensive duties.

Schneiderlin

View attachment 37859

Appearences - 23
Goals - 2
Assists - 0
Mom's - 2
Average Rating - 7.06

Signed from Southampton for £2.5million Morgan Schneiderlin really has slotted into the team well. Sitting just in front of the defence he swept up loose balls and swiftly sent them foward. He also has a great eye for goal. Only young and a candidate for loan next season to earn more first team experience.

Veloso
View attachment 37846

Appearences - 23
Goals - 3
Assists - 2
Mom's - 2
Average Rating -
7.16

Another defensive midfielder who ticked all the right boxes last season. The tough tackling player has been nickname "warrior" by the fans as he flies in with tackles and use's his strength to fend off any approaching attacking opponent.

Kompany
View attachment 37862

Appearences - 26
Goals - 1
Assists - 5
Mom's - 1
Average Rating -
7.26

Kompany, probably the strongest defensive midfielder last season will want to build on his impressive performances. With a strong prowess on the pitch and his inevitable aura distracting any attacker coming his way, Kompany really will be a key figure next season.
