Just curious, where do people stand regarding signing Falcao permanently after this season? And what would the reaction be if LvG does the opposite?

IMO bit early to judge. He was injured or was regaining fitness almost half the time and in the games he played he was played in the role he was not good at. He is not a back to goal player. It's a matter of confidence also, once he scores couple of goals we might see completely different player.
