Better be a lack of match fitness for Schweinsteiger. He looks a step and a half behind everyone else on the pitch.

Okay..so far...a midfield of Schweinsteiger and schniederlin looks very rock solid but there's little to no creativity
 
Ashley Young has the honour of the first ridiculous dive of the new season ..... To the surprise of nobody.

Game just petering out.
 
For the first game of the season, its been okay. Need more creativity.

Also Romero seems okay. Everyone was making it sound like any shot on goal was going in against him. He's looked solid so far.

Fortuitous win. A draw would of been a fair result from a very nondescript game. But a win is a win and ALL that matters opening day.

Take your pick from Damian and Smalling for MOTM. Outside of Darmian, not much to say about the other debutants.
 
Job done, Classic first game, no injuries, players got a run out. Spurs should have scored, and so should have Young and Mata.

Romero very good, Smalling and Darmian excellent, Depay good and Young good, everyone else okay.

People who said that never watched Romero play. Shot-stopping was never going to be an issue with him. The issue is that he's sort of oldschool goalkeeper, great at dominating the six-yard box and not much else. His distribution is wank as well. Watching him I get flashbacks from the 90s.

His distribution was excellent today. One deliberately passed out of play because it was a poor back pass to him
 
3 points job done, all that mattered today. Darmian looks class and Schneiderlin makes our CM look solid. Very good debut from Romero bar 1 kick in the 1st half, very good distribution made a key save near the end. Shaw what a player we have now fit! Could tell both teams struggling with fitness last 20 mins players cramping and all. We will only improve on this.
 
Darmian only subbed because he had a bit of cramp and LVG was taking no chances
 
Typical 1st game of the season overall. Smalldini was superb, so was Darmian, everyone else was ****, people getting cramps, but 3 points is 3 points.
