The Manchester United Thread

Being 'qualified' on paper is one thing.

Experience is a complete other. And Capello is a **** poor example. Aside from serving his time with the youth, there was all sorts of uproar when that happened. However it ultimately turned out.

We aren't going to agree here, but you shouldn't be learning on the job as an assistant at a club like Utd and getting the full gig as an interim.

From player-coach to interim manager to retiring to assistant manager.

**** of a fast track. Sound better?

No real concern of mine but to equate, if Gerrard had jumped straight through like that with little to no experience I wouldn't be happy about it. Screams jobs for the boys. However they wanted a Utd influence in there.

Maybe he'll turn into a decent coach. Maybe not. But he shouldn't be in a position like that at a club like coming straight from being a player IMHO.

But regardless, very positive start to this game from both sides.

Have to agree with Tyton that you're way off base here.

He's actually earned his badges and gone through the ranks.

Exactly how you're supposed to.

Right. I just personally don't like players, which is happening more and more, particularly bigger named ones, going straight into higher coaching positions at clubs from playing. A lot would be much better served getting the experience working their way up through a clubs coaching ranks.

Best performance in a loooooonng while...we're still playing possession but with far more purpose. We're taking long range shots...completely dominated chelsea...I do see chelsea getting a freak goal and winning

He was a player-coach for a year. he only became interim because half the coaching team got binned off with Moyes and it was basically the end of the season, and absolutely not worth paying for a coach in a season that was already dead.

The fact that you personally don't like it is somewhat irrelevant to the point that he actually served his time in this case. In fact they have all been player coaches at some point for the club. It's the first step into jumping off

You need a scrawny one to deflect in off someones backside to just to get a goal and a win.

Interesting to hear the last time Utd went 8 without a win was the back of '89 leading upto that Forest third round tie.

Can't see the same end result this time.

Atkinson needs to stop somking weed before the game. Two stonewall penalties he's now missed.

How unlucky. 2 times hit the woodwork and 2 penalty decisions against us.

This game will end as it always does, troll goal by Chelsea.

How Atkinson gets so many ManUtd vs Chelsea games is beyond me. Everytime he ***** us with his incompetence.

One thing I gotta say, this isn't how teams play when the manager lost them. The squad clearly wants the man to stay.

I think us playing better has to do with the presence of schniederlin....he automatically makes us look marginally better

Rooney could well of seen red there the end. That looked vindictive.

Unlucky not to win but the bottom line is another game without a goal and 8 without a win. A lot of positives to taken within that but the question would be is that enough to give you hope this would turn under him?

Schniederlin on, we look great defensively. Just need to work on finishing. Like I've said before

I don't envy the board if they have to make decision after this game.

Played best football of the season so far and the squad clearly showed up for Van Gaal, but at the end, its still another draw and no win for about 9 games now.

May of also helped that chelsea were yet again gutless and played for the point.

Best game for ages and get a point, deserved two nailed on pens as well.

They key about this is to play with that intensity EVERY SINGLE GAME.

If they do they won't go far wrong.
