The Manchester United Thread

From Ducker this morning: Qualification for the knockout stage beckons, but if anything reflects the growing state of apathy at United, it is the rare release of tickets on general sale for their penultimate group game against Young Boys this evening.

Even during those troubled campaigns under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, attendances on Champions League nights never fell lower than 73,040. With tickets still available on three sides of the ground, though, it will take a considerable late rush if they are to reach that figure tonight. Yes, this could be classed as a first-world problem — the type that Manchester City, after a number of attendances below 40,000 in the Champions League in recent years, would love to have — but it reflects what Gary Neville described yesterday as a “lethargy” around Old Trafford, reflecting a succession of miserable performances on the pitch.

Mate of of mine who I go with sometimes has said he’s noticed more and more empty seats this season.

See the defence crises has struck again. No Rojo, Darmian and Mourinho has confirmed Lindelöf will be out a while. And Valencia and Dalot are struggling for fitness.

We are currently in the same spot with Leeds. Out of 6 main defenders only 2 are healthy and both GK are out(Chelsea loan one broke leg and then main one also got smaller injury same week...). So our last game we had 2 (GK and CB) young guys playing first time and one winger played right back. Luckily we won 2-0, lets hope today we have main GK back.

Btw what is the case with Dalot, have not seen him play at all, seems he is out all the time. But upper post u still had him in the best 11 for united.

It says this on Sport Witness

“The sporting director of Atletico Madrid, Andrea Berta, has an offer from Manchester United as long as Mourinho does not continue as coach. He now has a renewal offer from Atletico also and his harmony with the ccolchonero club is total.”

Interesting....

Given his great relationship with Mourinho’s agent, which I’m sure Utd would want to mantain, Berta is interesting in lots of ways robbo.

The fact that Rojo is allowed to steal a living here all season is baffling and just goes to show how we can't get rid of players who clearly have no real desire to succeed at United. I expected Mourinho's tenure to be far more ruthless than it has in this regard, considering he's 2 and a half years in, we still have jones, Smalling, Darmian, Rojo etc.

Dalot got over his big injury. Played one game then got injured again on international duty.

Was never gonna sell any defenders if he knew he wasn’t gonna get the money to replace them with who he wanted. Which makes his new contract even more baffling

If he prioritised a CB so badly, why did he waste £50m of his budget on a CM who he doesn't use and £20m on a young RB who he also doesn't use? Only got himself to blame really, no matter which way we look at it!

U19s Vs Young Boys
Kovar, Laird, Ercolani, Bernard, O'Connor, Garner, Barlow, Traore, Chong, Bohui, Greenwood
Subs: Fojticek, B.Williams, Levitt, Puigmal, Galbraith, Ramazani, Mellor

Freds a strange one in all honesty. Not been bad tbh when played. But he himself has admitted he’s struggled with the move as a whole. And Dalot been injured nearly the whole time he’s been hear so can’t really blame Mourinho for that. Not sticking up for him as I think he would be best leaving but can’t blame him for everything. The club is just a mess atm!

Nicky **** has confirmed to #MUTV that Angel Gomes is out with a foot injury but it's "nothing serious". Tahith Chong is the captain against Young Boys here at Leigh Sports Village.

Young Boys took the lead after a mistake from Ethan Laird. Mason Greenwood made it 1-1 then 2-1. Then Young Boys got a peno to make it 2-2. HT atm.

Greenwoods goal to make it 1-1

Utd have a goal wrongly ruled offside.

Utd turning on the style getting 2 penalties in the last 6 mins. Barlow scores the first. Captain Chong scores the second to make it 4-2. Playing possessed this second half. Great stuff. Won’t see anything like this tonight!

6-2 now Levitt and Mellor with the goals. Glorious stuff to watch. And tbh if not do there keeper and woodwork it could of been a cricket score by now.

Finished top of the group. Smashed it tbh scoring goals for fun playing great attacking pressing football. Got a real chance of winning this comp this year.

Mourinho turning to friggin the tree Fellaini again whilst we have pure quality on the bench in Pereira and Pogba. How in the flying stars is Metic still starting every game? Don't even get me on to the jones and Smalling calamity, whilst we have a CB like bailly on the bench!

What the **** was that. Terrible finish!

Started well tbh 4 good chances already. Fred’s been good starting things off. Shaw makes such a difference to this team. Rashford has no composure in the box simple pass and Lingard had a near open goal.

Smalling made some great forward passes tonight. Who knew.....

Fellaini offside specialist. Rashford has been so disappointing tonight with his end product. Definitely cost us 3 goals.

If Martial had decent decision making he would be best winger in the world. But its terrible so he's average for most of the time.
Better stuff this game, some quick passing in the first half. Only Matic takes 5-6 touches before releasing the ball. Mata would be good this game with his movement.

Agree mate was thinking the same. Mata, Pogba or Pereira for Matic and should be a lot better.

Yeah been rrally good in patches with movement, quick one two passing. But the end product **** is *****! Nearly all down to one player that half.

Rashford again lol. Fellaini been taking notes from Rashford ;)

Lingard and Matic have been mega poo tonight!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE ******* KIDDING TAKING FRED OFF!!!

DDG :O we have been wank since Fred has gone off.
