The Manchester United Thread

So sending Beckham to Preston NE to experience the 'mens' game was bollocks, even Beckham himself admits his stint in the lower leagues improved his technical ability. By sending a youngster out on loan to play first team football you are doing two things proving that the individual can adapt to a different style/level and making a point to them that just because they start at a big club doesn't mean they are good enough to stay there. U18 and U23 level is all well and good but it is still very much a goldfish bowl for young players. Not all loans work out it is true but better for a player and a club to find out sooner rather than waste more money on what may never happen.

Well done, you've literally made the exact point I was making. It was the right loan for him, rather than simply saying physicaility was outright a blanket good thing.

Lot of leaks coming out front three of Sanchez-Rashford-Lingard. Martial on bench due to lack of fitness. Happy with that!

I put it in the way you should have explained it. A loan in itself is not a bad thing, even the best players will suffer if their attitude is wrong but you can only find that out by sending individuals out on loan. By rights Falcao should have excelled at United during his loan season but he failed partly due to lack of fitness but also imho due to his attitude (he failed at Chelsea as well we must not forget even after a full season in England). No loan is bad whether it be to 'beef' a player up physically or to find out if they are all talk and no end product the results of a loan can make or break a player, the way you explained it implied sending a player to a physical team/league was pointless when really it is not.

It’s level at the break in our first ever SSE Women’s FA Cup tie. @ellatoone99 had the only shot on target, headed away by Fliss Gibbons. Big second half coming up!

Utd starting 11: DDG, Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Sanchez

Subs: Romero, Jones, Mata, Lukaku, Martial, Fred, Dalot

Leicester City team
Starting XI: Schmeichel (c), Ricardo, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell, Ndidi, Mendy, Gray, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy
Subs: Ward, Fuchs, Morgan, Choudhury, Ghezzal, Okazaki, Iheanacho

Pogba now 20 goal & assists this season in all competitions. Not bad under someone who wants to play football.

Happy with the goal but we look so flat, Leicester look there for the taking but we haven't done anything for like last 30 mins of that half.

Young looks outmatched. Too many silly errors.

Nothing new though is it, he's ****** pony and not good enough for next season.

Penalty to Brighton...

SAVED BY CHAMBERLAIN!

Should be 2 up. Been the better team. But feels all a bit pre season friendlyish. No tempo and huge sloppiness from both sides.

If we continue like that second half then they will score no doubt, we got to step it up again and bring Martial on if this persists for much longer.

Wouldn’t take Sanchez off his WR has been great. And made some great runs only to be ignored time and again. Rashford was struggling at the end hopefully nothing serious.

Mctomney would be good in this game. Not a flair player but would keep it simple and not keep giving the ball away all the time!

Would take Lingard off. His runs are not being matched by Young (who has been bad today, no intensity, extremely silly errors), and somehow feel he is a bit slow today. Would actually bring on Lukaku and Martial, maybe rest Rashford.

Ma, why is Sanchez off? And Lingard still on the pitch. Jee. Unable to understand these subs.

Kinda feel Ole's first real test will come now, in how to motivate these players further, and not allowing them to slack off. Today, despite getting the three points, we were rather bad. Too many errors, delayed subs (Lingard FFS), lack of proper chances created. ****, we were lucky. Lindelof and Bailly were good. Young and Lingard were rather bad. Plus, Lukaku, after coming on, and having a good attempt at goal, was just being lazy in the final few minutes.
