better of keeping lukaku imo unless we are defo signing fernandes & a striker with dybala deal dead in the water

What! Shaw was very consistent last year and got better as it went on. Your all mad if you think we need a LB! We have far more pressing concerns atm than FB. It’s like people are looking for problems that aren’t there.

im not talking about your comments just in general he hasnt been a successfull signing so far this season he really has to up his game if he's to be a permenant fixture for united i think i've just been spoilt in my time of being a united fan irwin/evra

I just think we have a LB and a RB that are both focused on defensive duties. We need one that is a cross specialist. Since we have a potential WC RB, if an opportunity comes, we should get a LB that is confortable crossing. That's it. There's nothing wrong with two players in the same position.

Plus, Sandro is a very accomplished WB if Ole ever wants to play a formation with 3 in the back.

Needs to be prefaced with it being all complete media speculation, but going from polar opposites like Dybala to Mandzukic would suggest very little continued 'plan' at all.

Incorrect. Two separate targets entirely. Mandzukic allows for the pressing forward back up for Rashford, Dybala was the wide man/10 which lessened the need for a centre mid.

I know the style of both players.

But if flipping Lukaku ultimately goes from one to the other, with nothing else coming in in-between, then good on you for not thinking that's a completely opposing, very questionable approach that's not much different from Woodword's norm.

But hey, it's all complete speculation until the windows closed so a pretty superfluous debate whatever you believe.

It's got very little to do with Woodward. It was a double move. One part of the move has failed. Doesn't stop them from then picking up a box to box midfielder instead. Which would still mean we've accomplished what we needed to set out for in the first window

Woodwards norm would have been to pay the massive wages for Dybala regardless. He hasn't done that. So I'm not sure what your point is, and you started this debate anyway...

This, more than anything. I'm actually surprised they pulled the plug, considering Dybala's stardom and allure. Good on Woodward. I mentioned this a month or so back, but more than anything, Sanchez was a necessary evil. A highly expensive flop, sure, but atleast it has taught Woodward not to promise the moon and back when getting players, while prioritising a certain wage structure. Even the deals that he is paying money for (AwB, Maguire) - I assume the time taken is to get the best possible deal, which is again good.

We may still land Dybala (although I doubted it from the onset) but atleast we know we weren't extorted for it. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with Woodward pulling out of both Dybala and Longstaff - both correct decision as it stands right now.

If we don't have Dybala, get SMS and a striker replacement, and I'll be okay for now. Ideally, need a Matic replacement, but I don't think that's happening this window.

If you move to two all round midfielders in Pogba and say SMS, or even a creative 10 like Dybala (but we assume that deal is dead) you only really need a mobile DM who can progress the ball to both of them while also being able to shuttle ball to the flanks. McTominay can do this very well (didn't think he'd get this far so I've called that completely wrong) and replace Matic end of season.
