The Manchester United Thread

Nice lad and all and been decent for us. Time for him to move on though.
He's a good player but he's one of those players that needs to be playing every week he isn't going to get that at Man United with the likes of Bruno, and Ronaldo now in the squad. He should have realised that, hopefully come January he will have realise that he is better off elsewhere getting regular time on the pitch instead of collecting splinters in his ****. He's 28 now and he still can't hold down a 1st team place despite coming into his prime years time to become a big fish in a smaller pond time.

With McTominey, Rashford, Henderson, Telles all back in training. We have a complete fit squad to choose from

Jesse Lingard has rejected a contract offer from #mufc. He is keen to ensure he will get the opportunity to play regularly before making a decision about his future #mulive [@RobDawsonESPN]

Jesse Lingard is ready to run down his #mufc contract unless he is assured by the United hierarchy that he is in Solskjær’s future first-team plans #mulive [times]

80 | Anthony Martial comes off for Wissam Ben Yedder - an impressive performance from the Manchester United man in linking up with his attacking partners, ending the international break with his France credentials increased.

This right here is everything wrong with our current board.

Why do we keep offering fringe players new contracts? What next? Will we offer Phil Jones a new contract too?

If everyone is fit, Lingard doesn't even make the match day squad.

Sounds like Rice will be our DM target in the summer as per Whitwall, Ducker and Luckhurst. Luckhurst says talks have already started this summer but a deal was just not doable on top of the other business we did. They are all suggesting that we will sign Trippier in Jan and still want a WC STR next summer with a DM.

He would have been better leaving because he won't get the playing time he thinks he deserves. Mind you it could be the plan all along to get a bumper payout as a signing on fee as a free agent.

He won’t get his £75k a week anywhere else and thats the problem with these ******.

I fear he had his head turned when he was in discussions with Raiola a few seasons back and now thinks he can get stupid wages and a big signing on fee, come next August he may find that his true worth is a lot less than he thinks.

I mean the clubs are as guilty for putting these chumps on ridiculous contracts to start with. We have it with Origi who we madly extended after Madrid for another 4 years to the tune of £60k a week instead of cashing in on a bang average player when his stock was at its highest. Now, we’re stuck with him just seeing out his contract for the next 2 seasons. They’ve accepted 3 offers for him the past 3 summer windows from decent PL clubs. But those clubs can’t pay the fee and match his salary so he’s flat out refused to leave.

Which is his prerogative like but it still makes a complete mockery of the job description. ‘Professional Footballer’ ..,.. who isn’t arsed about actually playing and being a, yanno’, FOOTBALLER!

Similar Lingaard on even more than that is utter madness from Utd.And here we are with him naturally refusing to leave for less.

Hopefully the pandemic will force a lot of clubs who are spiralling into more and more leveraged debt through it to start getting more realistic with the money they offer these lads.

It makes zero sense for him to agree to an extension that most likely cuts his wages and doesn't guarantee playtime. He's a solid player and he'll have plenty of options as a free agent.
