The Manchester United Thread

I believe you may misunderstand his role a bit as far as the scope. Ashworth would represent an overseer to several aspects like the men’s team, women’s team, Physio, sports science, youth teams, nutrition and recruitment. Each of these facets will have their various heads that would report to him. For the men’s team, you have Ten Hag. For the women’s team, you have Marc Skinner. For recruitment, you’ll have James Wilcox. Wilcox is going to be the one running the recruitment bit.

Ashworth’s role is just making sure each of these facets are pulling in the same direction (ya know, the complete opposite of what has happen the past decade). There won’t be an upheaval if/when he comes in.
Pretty much how things will work. But Ornstein did say the other day day we are still looking to hire a head of recruitment to work along side Wilcox. And the womens team will be getting the same reshape at top level as the men’s team. But at a later time.

So more a GM, not a DoF?

I thought he was overseeing recruitment? If its left to the other three, that is a gamble.

SJR, Blanc, Brailsford - Board members

Berrarda - CEO

Ashworth - DOF

Wilcox - Technical Director

??? - Head of recruitment

As per Ornstein that’s how the structure will look. We also have a new head of contract negotiations in place called Matt Hargreaves already at the club since March. Currently employed at Coventry and Brighton doing various roles from board level down. He will be aiding in this summers recruitment also.

He will have a say in recruitment I believe (especially the more expensive ones) but he isn’t going to be organizing scouting assignments etc. All that granular work is going to be done by Wilcox (and whomever our next head of recruitment will be). Perhaps it’s better to hear from the horses mouth 🙂 (skip to 1:23)

EXCL: Erik ten Hag, set to sign new contract at Manchester United as deal is now almost agreed.Contacts advancing to final stages this week with his agents to finalize terms.
↪️
There will be changes in the staff with Ruud van Nistelrooy

According to @amandaezaza , Katie Zelem might leave Manchester United. The Captain is reportedly looking at other clubs, as United has yet to trigger her option.

According to @KathrynBatte , Nikita Parris will likewise leave Manchester United. Her contract will expire at the end of June.

Good!

EXCL. INEOS wants to complete the transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo to Manchester United!
⚖ The English company specializing in the chemicals sector is contesting the regulations put in place and has hired Swiss lawyer Gianpaolo Monteneri to plead before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in favor of the arrival of the defender #OGCNice at #MUFC …

EXCLUSIVE Manchester United considering selling naming rights to Old Trafford as they seek to drive up revenues as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to refurbish Old Trafford or build a new stadium.

Man Utd have also held talks with major financial institutions, including Bank of America, as they explore ways to fund the stadium project. Unclear at this stage whether fresh borrowing/debt would be placed against Manchester United or INEOS.

On naming rights, one possibility is that if Old Trafford refurbished, you keep Old Trafford but have an associated partner (eg Spotify Camp Nou, Kia Oval) but new build could simply see X name stadium (eg Emirates stadium/Etihad Stadium model)

$2 billion bank loan incoming :ROFLMAO:

What do you mean treat the womens team like dirt?
One of the reasons Stoney left a couple years ago was broken promises as far as investments. There’s also the canceled end of season party (agree with the men’s team but the women’s team should’ve still celebrated their first FA cup win)

Also, with the Carrington revamp, apparently the men’s team will now be moved to the women’s brand new training pitch while the women’s team get to train in portable buildings

Yeah that’s true about Stoney. But tbh since then we have invested more in transfers and wages as much as anyone in the WSL and have built the womens team a state of the art training complex at Carrington and there own training pitches which is only second to Cities women’s team.

And it’s natural with a massive multi million pound Carrington refurb and extension there is gonna be upheaval. It’s not only the womens team it the Academy, Men’s, and all staff that will be affected. And there temp dogs won’t exactly be wooden huts lol. People read portacabins and automatically think ports loo I think.

Yes the womens team is secondary atm to the men’s which is how it should be. But there still well paid and will still have a brand new state art of the art facility to return to. Same as the men and Acadamy team who are also having there own wing built.

🤩🤩🤩 makes sense now why Nikita Parris won’t get her contract extended.

Understand Manchester United are set to trigger the option-to-buy clause in Melvine Malard's loan agreement to sign her permanently from Lyon. She is currently contracted with Lyon until June 2026 but United will make her their player this summer. #mufc

Glazenomics in glorious technicolour.

He's as much a Utd supporter as I am an Evertonian. Absolutely no understanding of heritage and history.
