The most irritating thing is the players actually played really, incredibly high intensity, and executed the game plan really well. Shame the game plan was to cross ad infinitum.
Don't compare SAF's celebrations to Moyes' celebration. When SAF it was genuine happiness that he was getting a reward for his hard work and tactics.
Moyes' celebration looked painfully awkward and desperate.
Clearly Mata doesn't fit into our tactics. We should have gone for Jarvis instead. We can't even beat to a team who lost at home to 10 man Sheffield United. The plan B in this game was Januzaj... but it was still just CROSS CROSS CROSS CROSS CROSS CROSS CROSS.
Was this the great plan Mata was bought for?
Theoretical question - just how bad Moyes has to be to get fired?

If the board has any ounce of common sense they should wait until 2nd season then judge. Out with the old squad in with the new during summer
You mean give him free reign in the transfer window and probably a transfer budget of 200m? This manager whose tactic today, playing against the weakest team in EPL at HOME, is to send massive amount of crosses into the box and hope we would score from them?If the board has any ounce of common sense they should wait until 2nd season then judge. Which plan was very different than in other matches this season ...oO)

Actually we'd been crossing the same amount as we had under Ferguson since the start of 09/10 season. Which says a lot about the football we have been playing the last few seasons. Which also makes this game even more startling.
Agreed, and this summer is going to be massive, it always was going to be. Anyone who though Vidic didn't care because he was leaving didn't watch him today, but you can see he is slowing ( was never really quick though)The core areas of the squad is the same from 2008. Defence and midfield. These are the positions you need to build through continuity. They have been so used to the Ferguson regime that I genuinely believe the hunger and desire they have to essentially start all over again with the new management is there. They want to win games but it's easy to see that the likes of Vidic, Rio, Evra are going in the summer. They are slower and less emphatic about their roles. To an extent I don't blame them. Evra hasn't had any competition since Heinze left. He needs a break as he physically isn't capable enough anymore but no one can do the job to rely on. We should have been using Jones / Smalling / Evans more regularly at CB a year or two ago.
Our wingers frankly aren't good enough but having said that they have improved on from last season. An overhaul is required.
We've never crossed as much as we did this game, but..
People act like it's new for us to play like this. Tactically we're pretty much the exact same as we were last season. And the season before that. Solid defence (which has disappeared this year), a semi-functional but ugly midfield carried by Carrick, overlapping full backs, cross it in, hope our strikers win it. It's the quality of the performance that has disappeared. Rafael's form has vanished, Evra's decline defensively, Evans has been our only consistent CB, last season we had Rio having one last swansong, Carrick hasn't been at the same level, Cleverley has been worse, RVP has been injured. We can of course debate all we like why that is.

We looked better when Carrick tried to step through the middle.
Oh yeh about that... why would Moyes say earlier in the season Vidic is the best defender he's ever worked with and then when it comes to February... it's a decision we "mutually agreed".
Not only are we losing our captain.. we now have another huge gap to fill in the summer a long with nearly every other position it seems.
Because he has been no where his peak level and it's pointless to carry on blocking Jones' development out of sentiment.
