Considering Shaw hasnt been able to play, its been a pretty good idea to have Rojo...
£20m for a cover LB? Could of had Fabio or Buttner for that job? Is he seriously any better there than them 2?

He wasn't signed as cover he was mainly signed to play on the left hand side of a 3 CB system and maybe do a job at LB/LWB same for Blind. I would sooner have Rojo than Buttner or Fabio.£20m for a cover LB? Could of had Fabio or Buttner for that job? Is he seriously any better there than them 2?

No Blind was mainly signed as a CDM but can also play LB/CB/MC LVG likes players who are versatile gives him more options. And we will defo use 3-4-1-2 again.Considering 3-5-2 seems to already be gone (thankfully), that would make the signings very short-sighted and not really logical. I hardly doubt Blind was bought to be a CB as he's not really one.

Yeah not been great tbh. Can see him defo switching to it in some situations. Cant wait for West Ham.Hope not, it utterly sucks and we don't have the players to use it effectively, particularly at the back.

He's hugely better, and is a left side CB
Sorry Mike, disagree with this. He's a left back who can play CB.
Watched him regularly at Sporting he really is poor there. No positional sense, very rash in the tackle and gets dragged all over the shop by any decent striker. Like I said, if he'd been at CB vs Leicester we would have conceded more than 5 for sure.
So much revisionism in here. Preseason pretty much everybody talked about new CB being #1 priority transfer.
Club spends 150m on other positions, and suddenly its all "oh hey, lets get our current guys performing better". The only top proven CB currently in the squad is Evans. And that's not quite good enough for team like United.
How long Evans and Jones out for mate?
Jones is 2-3 weeks. No idea about Evans.
The defence doesnt need to be as good as the attack, but they do need to get the basics right, and they arent. Which makes talk of a new defender moot, because he cannot defend the entire line himself.
You think it's a coaching/tactics problem or the players themselves? We all know smalling and blackett ain't no kompany or terry but you'd still expect them to do the basics.
I'm talking solely as a number 10, mata is much better he's way more creative, better passing in tight spaces, better dribbler and a much better touch which isn't hard tbh
Mata has better first touch and apart from that Rooney is better and he proved it too by creating and scoring many goals from #10 position. I want Mata to play as many games as possible but Rooney is better player and better in any position except on wings.
Hardly a fair comparison considering Mata has never had a world-class striker in front of him at Chelsea while Rooney was playing with RVP who is one of the best strikers in the world. Give Mata a run of games behind someone like Falcao and watch him tear apart defenses. Mata got 30+ assists in his last season at Chelsea with ******* Torres as the main man
Rooney hardly played with world class players. We had ******* Cleverley and Carrick in the midfield who barely scored or Valencia and Young on the wings.
