Everton have made a £40m bid for Manchester United duo Schneiderlin and Depay. [@DiMarzio] #MUFC

Not really? You think they've only depreciated by a combined £9 million?

Interesting valuation. Great business for Utd. Not so clever from a Blue POV.

You sold benteke for close to what you paid didn't hear any complaints about palace then

L'pools double figure second top goal scorer Benteke? That one? Not that there's much of a comparison, or relevance, but how much less of a £32 million goalscorer would you price him at his 4 years banging them in the PL out of interest? (The fee was actually £27 million with related add-ons so there's your depreciation if you wanted one after a down year for him.).

I wasn't complaining. That's great business from Utd as you quoted.

Everton, on the face of it, not so much.

Would snap their hand off for £40m for the pair. Not often you buy a pair of "flops" (harsh in Morgan's case, as he has been decent when used, just not used enough by neither managers for whatever reasons) and almost get your money back. Would be good business for us. Good additions for them, yes, but Scouse is right; we'd be the real winners if that was the deal.

Putting the good deal aside, it'd be a handy option lost in Schneiderlin imo. With so many games and competitions to play.

What I've been speculating with myself is, with Fellaini clearly not good enough and heavily linked with a move away, Schneiderlin with one foot out the door, and word increasing that Bastian is off in January (missed or left training early yesterday), is Mourinho going for a midfielder next month on the sly? As considering how he's opted to go with a 3-man midfield of late, surely it wouldn't be the best time to be selling options in this key area, without replacements? It's going to be a long few months from now until the end of the season, still fighting in all competitions.

Perhaps he keeps Bastian until the summer, and we have the four & a half options in himself, Pogba, Herrera, Carrick & Fellaini, with TFM on standby too, but if not?! It'll be an interesting month or more.

Seen Bakayoko mentioned a right few times already on this thread, to add some extra food for thought.

He could also use Blind in the midfield if he still has any future at Utd. Else he could just go back to the 2-man midfield.

Think Bakayoko is for the summer from what i have been seeing. Mou only wants Lindelof in Jan. Think Basti is staying till summer hence why Morgs and Fellaini could both leave. Read that Periera could be coming back off loan.

David Moyes attempting to play some kind of mind games, and it's as if he's playing them with himself.

He says United have lost their way, trying to sign big money marquee signings, whereas Sir Alex bought smartly... before going on to say he had went in for Gareth Bale (for more than Madrid broke the world record free for), was close to signing Cesc Fabgregas, and had Toni Kroos agreed a transfer with him personally (before falling through for whatever reason)... so you were trying to do the pretty much the exact same thing that you're accusing the club of doing so wrongly now? Cry me a river Dave.

Goes for Bale, Fabregas & Kroos... ends up with Fellaini. You belong where you are! And you're getting a boxing day bashing.

Mourinho's red army (H)

STILL can't believe you appointed him. David Moyes Football GENIUS! Manager of Manchester United. It still doesn't sink in when you read that now in black and white.

STILL can't believe Ferguson STILL sticks to it that he was the right man for the job. Many would say that hand picking a man who'd won nothing in a decade of management, never even having a decent cup run (although he did achieve the awesome feet of going out of TWO different European competitions in a month. His ONLY European experience to the point)/ had never been anywhere near a club like Utd and the calibre of player there et all was simply protecting his own legacy but I couldn't possibly comment on that. *Smiles.

*Edit* All that said, I've a sneaky feeling he could be Boxing Days coupon buster. You can't score for **** and they'll frustrate the living **** out of you with his 9-1-0 formation. Which it basically was at Anfield with Anichebe that deep he may as well of been over the park at Everton along with everyone else bar Defoe who was the midfield and attack. But they do at least try counter and score so there is that.

Fancy Sunderland for a draw there.

Pay special attention to Pickford BTW. Best 'keeper at ours all season by a Country mile given he had far more to do than de Gea. Sunderland have a potential looking gem there who's Mackem through and through.

You could have had Kroos & Fabregas for the price you paid for Di Maria. Not a bad deal.

Have you ever thought Ferguson handpicked Moyes because he wanted him to fail, what better a scapegoat than a fellow Scot, from a mid-table team who wouldn't realise he was set up to fail from the start. Fergie was a sneaky ****** at times you only need to look at the way certain players were driven out or how he used mindgames at times to upset the other team/managers. I'm not saying that's the case but, after all the squad he left behind was not only aging but probably the worst one he had managed in his time at United.

A) So an FA Cup final isn't a decent cup run?

B) Also it was his only Champions League experience to that point (although he did actually do better than Van Gaal in Europe) He made the UEFA cup with Everton in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

But other than that some great points there

This is a first.

A attempted Utd defence of David Moyes Football GENIUS!

I salute your bravery in standing alone Sir this Christmas Eve! :P.

*Apologies for forgetting they reached a Cup Final. Hard to remember among all the Cup exits to the likes of Bradford.

And the arl' Third Division I guess. Never even knew that was on such a stellar CV. ;).

That was what I was alluding to what many people would say by 'protecting his legacy.'

But that would infer he cared more about that than Utd and as he's a bonafide Utd legend it wouldn't be right to do that so it's best left there.
