The Manchester United Thread

Klopp is elite. The "chase the ball" nonsense is ridiculous......

You don't have to tell me mate. I wrote a lot on this a whiles back but then it was around the time Alcarez (Where has he disappeared to BTW?) was getting real narky at our outright love for our manager so I cut it back to save the peace.

I don't know if I'd agree he's one of the two best managers in World football. He needs to add a European Cup or two for that. But there's certainly no better innovative coach anywhere working on a training ground teaching his players.

That's where'd I'd distinguish between Pep/ Klopp and Mourinho. Coaching and managing. The first two are far better coaches. But you can't take away what Mourinho has achieved in the trophy stakes.

He's limited by individual quality. It's hard to think of any better coaches barring Guardiola.

I have to agree with Damola here the English league is miles behind the other top leagues tactically. Also anyone who thinks LFC just press needs to stop listening to these so called pundits.

Damola just go get your badges or something
I am doing badges. Hope to get UEFA B in 2 years. Held back for a while but it's nice challenging counterfactual narratives. As much as you may love some individuals, there's no room for sentimentality in the game.

Decided to do the odd bit of writing. Have mates who produce a much higher volume of content. I recommend Spielverlagerung very much. The site is pretty much professional scouts and analysts.

Lot of respect for that. A very long and expensive process to do that off your own back without any club/ FA/ County FA etc help.

All the best to you mate. Hope it ultimately gets you to where you want to be.

Cheers. Will cost me 1.5k just to get there.

Wow. There you go. Absolutely scandalous with the complete dirth of English coaching talent at all levels that they continue to make it SO hard for your average Joe to get accredited.

It's very difficult to coach. Only 3-4 premier league teams at most can do it properly. Michael Carrick is a very intelligent player, however it's very difficult to get the timing wrong. The aim in the first phase is the quickest possible ball progression and the ability to quickly create overloads. Kante failed when Chelsea played the 4-3-3 for this reason. Wasn't good enough to be a pivot. Not everyone can be a Sergi Busquets.
That's basic knowledge. To be a pivot, you need to be good range of passing. Wait, is all of this structure just to get a team to play out of the back?

It really is the best method, especially if you're a top team. They do this in the Spanish second division. It's kind of expected.

Then they complain why the level of coaching in this country is **** poor when compared to Spain and Germany.
UEFA A is 4k
UEFA Pro is 9k
Read this somewhere.
England has just 1,178 coaches at UEFA "A" level, compared with 12,720 in Spain and 5,500 in Germany. At "Pro" Licence level, England has 203 coaches, Spain 2,140 and Germany more than 1,000.

English punditry is absolute ****. There's no tactical accountability from the media. Vastly different football culture in Germany. In his first press conference upon becoming the Napoli manager, he joked "I've been asked more about tactics in 20 minutes than 5 years in England". Issues are blamed on "character" or "fight" than any rational analysis. It's an absolute joke. Nobody sees football here beyond formations and player roles. There's a lot of ignorance and sneering in relation to other leagues. There needs to be a big emphasis on footballing culture if the FA want to get anywhere.

It's a whole other side issue I'm not getting into at this time of night but it's always amused me how Carragher and Neville are looked upon as de facto experts. When in truth they're just slightly more informed than the usual standard of the talking heads. But most of what they throw around is absolute nonsense.

Did Leicester play from the back last season?

Good question. They made a mockery of the entire league. They exposed the premier league's Kryptonite. Compactness...
Poor positional structure means that Premier League teams are heavily reliant on individual quality when attacking. As a result, they struggle with any compact side. An example being Hull vs United tonight.

Defensive transitions in the premier league is embarrassing. Too many joke goals week in week out. They're so so slow. Kante, Mahrez and Vardy were monsters on the transition and perfectly suited to exposing **** premier league sides. I've even written about Arsenal's slow transitions before.

The matches in some games become so bad that it can be a liability keeping the ball. For example, Arsenal vs Liverpool at the start of the season. So many tactical flaws that we looked like a liability with the ball. Every time we lost out to the Liverpool press, they looked like they would score. Contrast that to 2 teams that transition well. Leverkusen vs Tottenham in the Champions League was an elite match. Great tactical battle between two teams that transition efficiently in their own ways.

There's a spielver article for that.
Team Analysis: Leicester City | Spielverlagerung.com

Top prem teams were smart enough to sack their **** managers barring Arsenal and replace them. As the new managers come in, it will require more than compactness. Claude Puel is one that's flown under the radar. Top coach.

Yep. This is one of my GOAT articles. They alluded to Neville. The best out of the lot who haven't got a clue

How about we stop blaming the opposition goalie and focus on the fact that our manager is absolutely finished. You can't blame it down all to bad luck when it has happened more than once this season. This isn't a one off, this is all the fault of this horrific manager. Not scoring chances? How about you make better subs? Rashford, pogba and ibra were much worse than the other players on the pitch today, why not sub them off? Are you scared of them, lmao, can't believe he's a ***** as well. Why the **** would you bring on a finished scouser in rooney over the player with the most potential in our squad in martial. Seriously who's more braindead? Smalling or Mourinho? Why even bring on Smalling? He knows we're lacking a goal and we need an attacking threat on. Bring on an attacker you pragmatic idiot. Pep, poch, klopp and even conte would have done that in his scenario. Plus, the opposition weren't even a threat on the counter.

Finally, I expect you, mourinho, to give the bad players tonight in rashford, ibra and pogba the same treatment you did as martial. The treatment is publicly criticizing those players and if you don't, you're a downright hypocrite. Plus, the people who support him, reminder to you lot, you're supporting a hypocrite.
