The Manchester United Thread

Eriksen:

“Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling.

“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach. Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future. I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”

Murtough:

“Christian has been one of the best midfielders in Europe throughout his career. It is no surprise that he had so many options this summer, so we are really happy that he was convinced that this is the right club for him.

“In addition to his outstanding technique, Christian will add valuable experience and leadership skills to the squad, and we are looking forward to seeing the benefits of these qualities on the pitch this coming season and beyond.”

United have confirmed that Kirstie Smith is joining West Ham. She was very important to us in those first exciting seasons with Casey but didn't get much playing time last year. After being replaced by better signings. Good luck to her.

⬆It is not **** :D no idea why it only allows watching on youtube site

Will be interesting to see if he fix some aspects in his game. Talent and raw potential is there with physicality, dont think he will be flying coming season so will see how fans will agree with mediocre first season considering his price tag.

I think you need to understand the inherent difference between the on-line, SM L'pool 'fan' (term used VERY loosely), and those that actually go to the match. Not least from the City.

Just like the manager is under no pressure to play anybody from those that paid it, the price tag means nothing with the support.

I'm struggling to think of the last player that didn't receive full backing regardless. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Mignolet maybe? But he had laid his own bed long before Klopp inherited him.

I'd expect Díaz, Salah and Bobby now Jota is out of the rest of pre-season with his hammy, to start the season. (Although Núñez is forming a really good understanding with Mo already which could see him early.). Which is both standard for Klopp as it's a rarity for a new signing to go straight in. (Díaz was an exception last year rather than the norm for example.). Not least one who's old-school position we haven't had since what, maybe the inherited Benteke?

With the only meltdown in that scenario being from divvy's on-line and the mediates trying to create a non-story.

This is what I meant when I said United do not have the luxury to sign a unfinished article like Liverpool can. You spent big money but you can afford to give him whole season to settle in, because of the depth of talent.

Talking forwards, with the big Pole looking like he’s getting boxed to Barcelona, that opens up Munich for Ronaldo. Which would leave United what at this stage? Dybala?

Is it today Barcelona go on tour BTW? Anxious day if it is to see if he makes the plane.

Who knows, Dybala does not fit at all, but who am I to judge? I'd be fairly happy if Ronaldo went to Bayern.

Oh, I completely agree on the Argentinian. I wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole.

Just thinking of the limited options this late in the window. Given theres Martial and thats pretty much it, Ronaldo going leaves ten Hag with another problem he shouldn't have been handed.

#11 has messed any depth up there but that is what it is.

I assume one of Elanga or Diallo (if not both) will stay and try to fill the gap if there's nothing on the market. There are some talks about Bruno or DvdB being used like Tadić was, as a false 9. Wouldnt be against it short term.

If EtH can fix the midfield it will be much easier for everyone else to do their job. That midfield is so f. unbalanced.

Martial is staying. Then if we don’t bring anyone in it will be up Amad and Elanga, Garnacho to fill in or Rashford if we sign another winger.

I can’t speak on Elanga, but Diallo didn’t look anywhere near ready for the SPL last season when I watched Rangers. He defo needs another loan based off that first experience.

Don’t be fooled by the few goals he scored. He was naturally well out of his depth in Scotland so the PL would eat him alive right now.

No one of Martial, Rashford, Elanga and Diallo havent shown anything to warrant a starting position. But its better to have Diallo or Elanga as a makeshift striker then to have none.

Diallo is a strange one. Wonderful ball control, great acceleration and positive on the ball. But he lacks physicallity. Maybe he'll do better at PL, who knows.

While true in a way on current form. But Martial has definately show he can be a starting STR for us. His ability isn’t the problem. Like ETH said yesterday about him. If he keeps his focus and determination he can be a great contributor for us.

Sure, but those are big ifs. If he can fulfill his talent, Monaco will get hefty Ballon d'Or bonus.
