Shane Ferguson has looked very sharp for a 19 year old, hes a good understudy for Santon, who imo is class and was kinda wasted by Inter, unless I'm missing anything crucial.

I'd also like to say that getting Moussa Sissoko is an absolute stroke of genius by Pardew in my opinion. Mind you I could be basing this off of my experience of using him on Football Manager but I have seen some French football fans who have praised his passing ability as well as his defensive qualities as a midfielder.

Raheem Sterling has more kids than goals scored atm so as a Liverpool fan I can see where you're coming from.

Sterling has one kid.. And is actually an incredibly talented player. Ranger on the other hand is a complete tool who has never showed any footballing potential.. As soon as Newcastle release him he'll be lucky to find a club willing to take him on.

It doesn't matter which teams are worse than Newcastle, it's which team gets less points. there's been tons of **** teams survive, and good ones go down etc. It's all down to context.

I think Pardew was insanely lucky last year, he is a pretty average manager. Probably for the best to get another manager in come the end of the year. Poyet?

Yeah but think of the compensation it would cost to get rid of him. As for Sterling he's incredibly wasteful for the postions he gets in, and I'm sure I've heard he has more than one kid.

There was an interview on Yahoo before the United v Liverpool match, he laughed off reports that said he has more than 1 kid (he also admitted to being a United fan).

Ah ok then, a bit harsh on Sterling then really although the fact he laughed it off is admirable. As for being a Man Utd fan I'm not too bothered, as Carragher (and Gerrard I think) were Toffees lol

Mike Ashley is a very sucsessful business man there will be clauses in that contract regarding compensation

I think I read somewhere that the 8 year contract is actually a 1 year rolling contract? So I imagine Pardew wouldn't get 8 years worth of compensation.

Is that so? In that case they might as well keep him for a little while longer and sack him at the end of his contract if that's the case.

alicwkd -- i pretty much got the same impression, that although its an 8 year contract, Mike Ashley only has to pay out a years compensation to terminate

Ye I think you guys are right. But would be very harsh to sack him after such a good season last season (to say lucky is very harsh). If Newcastle go down now or survive barely then he should probably be sacked, if they improve drastically then don't sack

I wonder how many clubs will be in for Cabaye and Ben Afra this summer. Might be hard to keep them with a mid table finish

despite the result the second half was totally **** and to be fair villa should have at least scored 5-6 goals, and now i think pardew needs to get the sack asap, first half looked amazing but second was the worse ive ever seen

IMO Pardew is poor at correcting problems. When the going gets tough, he rarely seems to look like he knows how to change things except to throw money at it.

Villa had all of the momentum and were using Benteke's strengths more in the second half, as well as exloiting the channels with pace. Not a lot that Pardew could do except try to push his team forward and hold the ball up better (which is why Ameobi came on). Not sure why he didn't take Cisse off though. He's gambling that these players will all settle quickly but they all have quality and I don't see any reason to back him in the transfer window and then sack him...
