Another month packed with fixtures with some very important matches included as well, the matches against Beijing in the Champions League could really kick-start our season and our possibly the biggest games we've ever played.
We'll be putting all our efforts into the Champions League this season as we're basically dominating Chinese Football so dominating the whole of Asia is the next step.

Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 347461

Wuhan vs Yongchang (2/5/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347460

I thought for once our complacency has finally punished us, i was fuming when we chucked away a 3 goal-lead luckily our quality carried us through
It is a problem but as long as we keep winning then we can't really complain, we have to keep huge praise to Dong Xiandong as well as scoring 4 goals in any match is great achievement.
Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Wuhan vs Chengdu (5/5/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347459

Much more routine win, we looked much more composed in defense and much more comfortable in possession.
Also encouraging to see the goals shared out between our selected front four, it really shows the strength in depth we have in the forward positions.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jianghshan

Wuhan vs Beijing (9/5/18) AFC Champions League 2nd Rnd 1st Leg

View attachment 347458

Far from our most convincing performances, but easily one of our most important.
I really wanted to put in a big commanding performance and effectively end the tie in this leg, the main objective however was to make sure they didn't get an away goal and thankfully we did that.
If we can get an away goal in the second leg then we'll be in a very strong position.
Man Of The Match - Rao Weihui

Renhe vs Wuhan (13/5/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347457

I'm going to let the screenshot do all the talking, I can't even begin to explain how we didn't win this match.
Just one of them crazy matches where we did everything but hit the back of the net.

Man Of The Match - **** Shengguo

Beijing vs Wuhan (16/5/18) AFC Champions League 2nd Round 2nd Leg

View attachment 347456

So happy we pulled through with this win, it keeps our season alive and kicking.
We got of to a great start in the match getting that much needed away goal, predictably we then fell away a little bit however I'm never really worried with this team as we always seem to come through and get another goal.

It's really the main strength of this team, our determination get's us through games as we just push even harder when we are down.
Man Of The Match - Jorge Bazan

Guangzhou vs Wuhan (20/5/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347452

Once again we absolutely dominate a team but just couldn't seem to get that all important breakthrough, I can take some encouragment from performances like this though as it show's how dominant we are against a big team like Guangzhou.
Man Of The Match - Zhang Shou

Wuhan vs Chengdu (23/5/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347459

This result came as a relief after our recent frustrations in league matches, we hadn't scored in the last two matches and I was keen to buck the trend quickly.
We were definitely back to best in this game, we could and should of scored 7 or 8 goals.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

We had a bit of a mixed bag of results in the league this month, however the most important thing is that we progressed in the Champions League.
As you'll see the results against Guangzhou and Renhe didn't do us too much harm in the league table, it was important to get that 6-1 win though so we can carry a bit of form into our next fixtures and consolidate our position at the top of league.
Here's the League Table...

Goal Of The Month

The goals weren't really of that high a standard this month, nevertheless this still was a decent goal with a nice chipped finish over the keeper.

Player Of The Month

View attachment 347440

It was really between Dong Xiandong or Bo Jiangshang this month, there wasn't much to separate them but I gave it to Dong Xiandong for his 4 goals against Yongchang as it was a incredible performance.

Quick Update

View attachment 347201

These matches I'm about to show you were played in different months, as the World Cup and East Asian Cup disrupted our season.
So instead of including them in my usual updates, I'll just show you them in a little update...

Yiteng vs Wuhan (6/6/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347200

Although I was happy with the late comeback, I was still very disappointed with the result and performance as were completely outperformed up until the last few minutes.
We had so much possession as well, but they just caught us on the counter so effectively which is poor from us because Yiteng are one of the weaker teams in the league.

Man Of The Match - Ivan Vukovic

Wuhan vs Shenbei (25/7/18) Chinese FA Super Cup 4th Rnd

View attachment 347198

In complete disbelief with this result, I would of put my life on us winning this match.
Shenbei are a mid-table team in the second division, so we really should of been putting them away really easily.
We dominated the game, this happens way too often where we control a match and then still can't win it.
Anyway, our exit from the cup is disappointing but it does give us an opportunity to further focus our attentions onto winning the Wanda Plaza Super League and the AFC Champions League
.
Man Of The Match - Qiu Guodong

Shandong vs Wuhan (28/7/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347195

Although Shandong are a very strong team within this division I was still disappointed with this result, I was looking for us to regain our form after a few poor matches but we started off in this match dreadfully and once again had to produce a big comeback.
After we pulled it back I felt we should of gone us to win the match but we just couldn't get that winning goal.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Very disappointed with these three matches, we just couldn't seem to get into our usual rhythm and just kept conceding silly goals.
Although the inconsistency is understandable as our squad was left very thin with international call-ups, injuries and fatigue etc...

Bo Jianghsan Transfer Update

View attachment 347194

Amazed with this, a player from a club like Wuhan attracting interest from such big clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal is amazing.
It's also meant I've had to promise him that we will win the AFC Champions League this season or otherwise he's off, this makes it all the more important that we try and go on and win it.

Last edited:
Really hope you can keep him, although he will probably go once you leave Wuhan anyway

August

View attachment 347039

Another month packed with fixtures, it will once again test our squad depth and fitness.
It is really annoying though having 8 matches within 28 days as we get a lot of injuries, we then have to rotate and play weaker sides than usual which causes us to drop points.

Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 347032

Qingdao vs Wuhan (1/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347030

Awesome performance, 53 shots is a bit crazy and we're always going to score goals with the strike-force we have.
Great way to start the month and build a bit of momentum going into this tough month.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Fuli vs Wuhan (5/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347025

We had this match sewn up in the first half as we flew out of the traps, we reacted brilliant to being pulled back to 2-1 by quickly adding another two goals to really wrap up the match.
Our quick starts really are a feature of the way we play, if we can cut conceding silly goals then we can win matches frequently withing the first half.
Man Of The Match - Jorge Bazan

Wuhan vs Dongya (8/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347024

Like I said before we're capable of putting teams away within the first half, we got off to a blistering start and Dongya didn't even pose a threat to us.
Our midfield was crucial in this match, they provided assists and also broke down Dongya's attacks quickly and prevented them from getting shots on goal.

Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Wuhan vs Liaoning (12/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347020

We really should of won this match a lot more convincingly, but nevertheless a win is a win.
For once our defense was the strongest part of our team, they did a great job of blocking crosses as Liaoning looked to exploit the wing.
Our keeper made some crucial saves including an incredible double-save to keep our former player Zhong Jiajie from scoring against us and getting his new team a point.

Man Of The Match - Qui Guodong

Wuhan vs Jiangsu (15/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347018

Another very impressive defensive performance from us, we reduced Jiangsu to a very limited amount of of goalscoring chances.
Our goals were also scored at very important times in the match, our first goal in the 45th minute really gave us great momentum going into half-time and also dealt Jiangsu a big blow.
Then our goal in the closing minutes really consolidated our win and put a bit more gloss on an impressive team performance.
Man Of The Match - Jorge Bazan

A'erbin vs Wuhan (18/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347012

Unusually we got off to a terrible start, A'erbin really did batter us for the majority of the first half but crucially we pulled one back which gave us bit of momentum going into the second half.
We then really couldn't push on and get the equalizing goal and I really though we'd blew it when we gave away a cheap penatly, luckily our keeper pulled off a great save and it seemed to spur us on to then get the equalizer.

Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Beijing (25/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347009

Easily the worst performance I've seen at my time with Wuhan, we were absolutely dreadful defensively.
It was almost like nearly every Beijing attack resulted in a goal, mistake after mistake from our defenders as you can see from their ratings they were dreadful.
It would easy to get carried away with this performance and try and completely rebuild our defense, this would be a knee-jerk decision and that's how I like to manage my teams.

Man Of The Match - **** Xiwen

Wuhan vs Tianjin (29/8/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 347008

It was essential to get back to winning ways after the demoralizing loss against Beijing, our defense was much improves and seemed a lot more composed.
We were also a lot more controlled in possession and created a lot of chances for ourselves which Dong Xiandong and Bo Jiangshan will more tha likely make the most of.
Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Apart from the embarrassing loss to Beijing, August was still a largely positive month for us as we picked up 19 points from a possible 24.
We were also very lucky in that we didn't really pick up any major injuries and coped quite well with the tiredness of the squad by using squad rotation effectively.
This month has put us in a good positon going into the last few months of the season, this month was potential banana peel which could of ruined our season but thankfully we dealt with the large amount of fixtures very well

Goal Of The Month

Even though we played a lot of matches this month, the goals really weren't of the highest quality however this was the pick of the bunch.

Player Of The Month

View attachment 346991

Once again it was between Bo Jianghshan and Dong Xiandong for player of the month, Bo Jiangshan won it by virtue of outscoring Dong Xiandong.
He scored 6 goals this month and also got 4 assists.

View attachment 346870

This month is a lot lighters in terms of fixtures and will mean we'll have more oppurtunites to field our strongest team which is important because we play the First Leg of the Quarter Final in the AFC Champions League against Al-Ain.
It's important that we prioritize the Champions League as the future of Bo Jiangshan relies on it, if we don't win it then he'll be moving on.
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 346867

Yongchang vs Wuhan (2/9/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346866

Not much more to say than that we were completely outplayed, they controlled possession and looked very dangerous going forward as our defense had another off-day.
We definitely need to bring in some more quality at the back, hopefully the improvements I made to my scouting network will come in handy.
Man Of The Match - Feng Gang

Wuhan vs Renhe (16/9/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346852

Always a good sign when we can bounce back so well after a loss, the work on defensive positioning in training seemed to pay off.
We were much better in stopping the opponent get shots off on goal, although we did give away a lot of dangerous free-kicks which thankfully they didn't take advantage of.
I still believe we need to bring in some more quality at the back at it's rare one of them doesn't have a bad game.
Man Of The Match - Zeng Yongxuan

Wuhan vs Al-Ain (19/9/18) AFC Champions League 1st Leg Quarter Final

View attachment 346842

Just a really tough match, Al-Ain were very clinical in-front of goal and have really damaged our chances with the three away goals.
One positive we can take from this game is that we created a lot of chances, if we can play a little better defensively then we have a good chance of winning the tie.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Chengdu vs Wuhan (23/9/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346839

Really good team performance, every part of the team played well.
We were relatively good defensively, our keeper was in fine form pulling off some great saves and also our attacking was as it's usual best.
Bo Jiangshan and Dong Xiandong were simply unstoppable going forward.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Guangzhou (29/9/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346834

Although Guangzhou have dropped off a little and had a change in management, it's still a tough match against them and our performance is still an exceptional one as they have some great players.
51 shots and 60% possession is really good going against a team of their stature, the fans are also always delighted when we get a win over them.
Man Of The Match - Jorge Bazan

Not the best month we've ever had but there's definitely still some positives to take, we're still well within a chance of qualifying for the semi-final of The Champions League and also our results in the league have strengthened our position at the top.

Goal Of The Month

Great strike from Feng Gang, he doesn't really get many matches so it's nice to see him score a great goal.

Player Of The Month

View attachment 346815

Nice to see another player other than Dong Xiandong or Bo Jiangshan have a standout month, Jorge Bazan really stepped it up this month and was consistently good while others were a bit more patch in their form.

Next Update is going to be a very exciting one, the league run in, Champions League and End Of Season Summary...!

League Run In...

View attachment 346363

These last few matches could see us wrap up our second Wanda Plaza Super League title in as many years, we've still got tough games though and obviously we can't afford to slip up.
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 346362

Changchun vs Wuhan (7/10/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346361

Despite taking a 2-0 lead we really deserved to lose this game, we didn't create enough chances and looked unsure at the back throughout the match.
It's unusual for us not to create many chances, luckily this match we were very clinical and managed to put our only two chances away.
Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Wuhan vs Yiteng (21/10/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346360

We were definitely back to our best in this game, we created a lot more chances and were much better with our passing in the final third.
We also didn't give possession away cheaply which obviously contributed to the big scoreline, Yiteng didn't really have enough of the ball to cause us any problems.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Jiangsu vs Wuhan (27/10/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346359

So we won it again, this cracking performance means we claim our second league title with Wuhan and we've done it in style.
Even though a few players were rested we still managed to dominate Jiangsu, our clinical finishing was the difference between the two teams as Jiangsu did create some good chances but just couldn't put them away
.
Man Of The Match - Jorge Bazan

Wuhan vs Qingdao (3/11/18) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 346358

Great all round team performance, having 5 different goalscorers is always something to be proud of.
4 of our goals came from set-pieces, which is encouraging as it show's the work I set the team to do in training has really paid off.
Man Of The Match - Liu Sen

So there we go, another league title with Wuhan wrapped up fairly easily.
The main thing I enjoyed this league campaign is the amount of goals we scored, 90 goals in 30 games is incredible.
Funnily enough we ended up on exactly the same goal difference as we did last season, however we did pick up 8 less points.
Here's how the League Table looked at the end of the season...

AFC Champions League

View attachment 346351
You saw that in the first leg against Al-Ain we did put ourselves in a fairly tricky position by conceding 3 away goals in a draw.
Although I remained quietly confident we could pull of a win, here's how we got in The AFC Champions League...

Al-Ain vs Wuhan (19/9/18) AFC Champions League
Quarter Final 2nd Leg

View attachment 346349

We did it emphatically, Al-Ain stood no chance against our quick, fluid and incisive attacking play.
Although they did control possession they just couldn't handle us on the break, we got forward quickly and just cut them apart.
This win shows our versality, we can control possession and create chances and also when we struggle a bit with possession we can just hit teams with pace on the break and take them apart.

Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Seoul (24/10/18) AFC Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg

View attachment 346341

Once again we've put ourselves in a tough position by conceding an away goal, we just didn't seem at our best and were very wasteful in the final third of the pitch whereas Seoul create limited chances and still managed to get a draw.
Although we've done it before, so there was no reason why we couldn't do it again.
Man Of The Match - Zeng Yongxuan

Seoul vs Wuhan (24/10/18) AFC Champions League Semi Final 2nd Leg

View attachment 346339

I have to say I went absoultely crazy when Dong Xiandong scored the winner, it was brilliant.
The sending off really helped in this game, Seoul were still fairly strong even after going down to ten men but it would been a lot harder against eleven obviously.
Our keeper really contributed to this win, we were put under a lot of pressure and he pulled off some magnificent saves and really kept us in the game.

Man Of The Match - Chi Wenyi

Wuhan vs Saitama UTD (17/11/18) AFC Champions League Final

View attachment 346333

Easily the most tense game I've ever played, going 2-0 up I really though we had it won but Saitama came back really strongly and fair-play to them they dominated the second half.
Extra Time was just so intense, both keepers were on top form and kept out multiple chances.
Penalties is then just a complete lottery, but I'm pretty sure we've won every penalty shootout we've been in so far and I think that's down to our keepers ability to save them.

Man Of The Match -Bo Jiangshan

Goal Of The Season

Really liked this goal, the touch away from the defender and then the great shot from distance really pleased me.

Player Of The Season

View attachment 346330

Was it ever going to be anyone else, he's truly expceptional for this level of football.
He scored 32 goals and got 16 assists in 42 games, these stats just shown how dominant he is at this level and I think he could easily go on and compete at the highest level.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End Of An Era

View attachment 346328

We've achieved everything we can at Wuhan and we've done it in 3 seasons, I'm very happy about our time at Wuhan we started off in the second tier and have built ourselves up to to be the biggest force in the whole of Asia.
We also stumbled across the club legend that is Bo Jiangshan, and I will be keeping an eye on him for the rest of his career.

So here's our new club, Coquimbo have just been promoted to the top tier of Chilean Football.
The club was founded in 1958 and have been up and down the Chilean Divisions ever since, our aim with them is bring some stability to the club and consolidate their place in the top tier and then try and bring them some trophies.
They also have the nickname "Los Pirates", hence the awesome badge.

The Rebuilding Process

View attachment 345557

The club was relying heavily on loans, with the majority of their starting eleven being on loan.
That's not the way I want to run this club, i decided to get rid of all the players on loan and bring in our own players which means we essentially have a completely new squad.
It will obviously take us a bit of time to gel, but the players we've brought in are a mix of youth, experience, lots of quality and potential to help us do really well in the Primera Division.
I honestly think we'll be very, very strong this season.
Here's the players we brought in...

One more signing...

View attachment 345451

We announced a link with Tigres and the opportunity to sign him on loan came about, generally I don't want to be making loan signings but it's only one and he was too good to turn down.
He can play Center-Back and Right-Back which is helpful, he'll just slot into the team nicely as one of our strongest players.

Good to see you've find a new club, that badge is epic. Good luck!

Really love this story and was genuinely pleased when I seen you'd won the champions league...brilliant read this and can't wait for the next update....You've made some brilliant signings so far with Mardones standing out for me. Best of Luck in Chile and i will continue to follow.

This is literally one of my favourite things to read. Going to miss Bo Jiangshan (?) at Wuhan but this new team looks like it could be my favourite. Like the look of the new team.

The Return Of A Legend...

Actually can't believe I managed to pull this off, he was unhappy at Wuhan and wanted a new challenge so I though I'd at least try to get him.
So surprised no-one else come in from him and also 200k is a absolute steal for a player of his quality.
At first he wasn't too keen on joining us, but we put a lot of clauses into his contract including a 50% yearly wage rise and that was enough to convince him!
