Pre-Season and Transfer Window

View attachment 351379

Obviously with us gaining promotion we needed to improve the squad, we had an increased wage budget so we were able to bring in a player of a higher quality.
Although, we already have players who were good enough to play in the Wanda Plaza Super League, so we didn't bring in too many players in case we upset the rhythm of the team.
We did however target our weakest positions and bring in players that will directly improve our team.
Here's the players we brought it...

Feng Gang

View attachment 351377

Last season we had a strong front four, however when one of them got injured we didn't really have anyone of quality to replace them with.
Feng Gang now means we can do this, he can also play in a range of different positions which is very beneficial to the squad.

Rao Weihui

View attachment 351376

This is a very good transfer for us, he's a very good player at this level but he wasn't quite getting in the team at Beijing so I decided to snap him up.
He'll also go straight into our team.

Zeng Yongxuan

View attachment 351375

I can't believe no-one else had picked him up, his physical stats are unbelievable and perfect for the Box To Box Midfielder role.
We were able to get him on great wages as well because he's a young player, and no-one else was interested in him.

**** Qingfeng

View attachment 351370
Really happy with this signing, he's been brought in a back-up at right back and also as a utility player.
His versatility will come in very useful this season.
As we've now made a step up in quality, there was inevitably going to be some players to move on.
We also lost some player who weren't happy with not getting first team football, I didn't want them affecting the team morale so i just decided to let their contracts run out.
Here's who we let go...

(Loved finding out this happened while in Wuhan!)

As we brought in a few new players we had to analyse our players and figure out the best way to play, it took us a few games to figure out our best first XI as we now have more quality players.
Here's our starting XI and Team Instructions...

View attachment 351357

We looks to play a very quick and direct style of play, most of our play is directed towards the wings and looking to get lots of crossed in for our striker.
I feel it's a very balanced set-up, our midfield pairing work perfectly together as our Box-To-Box midfielder looks to dominate the game as our Deep-Lying Playmaker looks to dictate the tempo and give it our more attacking and direct players.
The combination of a Deep-Lying Forward and Shadow Striker also works really well, the Deep-Lying Forward drops deep into space which leaves space for our Shadow Striker to exploit and grab goals arriving late into the box.

We also did a tour of South Korea as I looked to test ourselves against some top-teams in another league
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 351355

As you can see we did extremely well, The K League is better in terms of reputation than our league so to beat some of their top teams is very encouraging for the upcoming season.

Season Preview

View attachment 351342

Honestly amazed by the Media's predictions, I expected us to be a mid-table side but it looks like we're one of the favourites to get Champions League qualification.
Our aims have changed from consolidating our position in the division, however we'll now definitely be aiming for Champions League Football which would be incredible in our first season.

Brilliant end to last season mate, congratulations on the promotion...also looks like you've made some pretty shrewd signings, especially bringing in Zeng Yongxuan, his physical stats are immense.
Looking forward to the next update :-)

I was definitely looking to get off to a strong start, although we have some very tough games this month.
The aim is to be in and around 4th place, that's definitely our objective for this season.
It's also a very long month so fatigue will play it's part, it's important we rotate the squad effectively.
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 351138

Wuhan vs Shandong (11/3/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351137

We'll definitely take this, it's our first game in this division and Shandong are easily one of the strongest teams.
The performance was exceptional and we really could of won this match, just our finishing let us down slightly.
Man Of The Match - Feng Gang

Hangzhou vs Wuhan (2/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351132

Not so happy with this draw, Hangzhou are one of the weaker team in this division and be should of been beating them.
I was mostly disappointed with our discipline, we gave away way too many free-kicks and they punished us.
We could should of scored a lot more goals than we did, we missed so many easy chances.
Man Of The Match - Xiong Jin

Wuhan vs Jiangsu (5/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351128

Absolutely amazing performance, to beat Jiangsu who are a very strong teams so convincingly is just immense for us.
We completely played them off the park, to score 4 goals against a team of Jiangsu's quality in 15 minutes is just incredible while also keeping a clean sheet.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Dongya vs Wuhan (9/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351127

Very happy with this win, especially with the team being very tired from playing 3 games in 7 days.
Holding onto the lead for 24 minutes was very tense, Dongya put a lot of pressure on us but Chi Wenya made some great saves to keep us in the lead.
Yang Shipeng's winning goal was a great strike as well.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Renhe (15/14/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351125

The relief when they missed the penalty was incredible, I felt so angry when we have the penalty away because we really deserved and should of win this match comfortably.
We created more than enough chances to win this match, we seemed to hit every part of the goal apart from the back of the net.
Man Of The Match - Chi Wenyi

Guangzhou vs Wuhan (23/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351118

Probably the happiest I'll be with a draw all season, Guangzhou are the financial powerhouses of this league so to get a draw against them away from home is very pleasing.
One slight downside is that we held on to the lead for so long, it was a little disappointing to concede so late on after doing so well to keep them out for 62 minutes.
Man Of The Match - Lu Qiaote

Wuhan vs Beijing (26/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351106

Very happy with this win, it was a very closely fought match.
The win is also much more significant due to Beijing being our fierce historic rivals, Beijing will also be challenging us for Champions League places.
Man Of The Match - Feng Gang

Liaoning vs Wuhan (30/4/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 351098

Glad to play a weaker team after our run of tough games, their lack of quality really showed as we picked them apart at ease.
Although we did score a lot of our goals early on, we still dominated the rest of the game as well and the goals were always coming.
Man Of The Match - Gao Ming

View attachment 351097

Very happy with our start in the league, staying unbeaten against the teams we played is impressive.
We also achieved our target of staying in and around 4th place, the fixtures get slightly easier in the next few months so hopefully we can really push on.

Goal Of The Month

Great first time strike, also a very important winner against Dongya

Player Of The Month

View attachment 351079

He's really carried his form into this season, 6 goals in 8 matches is a great return.

Big Transfer Coup

View attachment 351054 View attachment 351053 View attachment 351052

Can't believe we've been able to sign him, i'm completely baffled to why Beijing would let him go as he's easily one of the best players in the league.
As you can see he's going to go straight into the first team, his wages are a little high but we can just about afford them and he's definitely worth it.
He looks as if he's going to be a dominant centre-back due to his stature and physical attributes, also very impressed with his determination.

Brilliant end to last season mate, congratulations on the promotion...also looks like you've made some pretty shrewd signings, especially bringing in Zeng Yongxuan, his physical stats are immense.
Looking forward to the next update :-)
Thanks mate, yeah his stats are great for this level.

I was very happy to come through last month unscathed, we had some very tough matches and they also came thick and fast which meant we did suffer from some tiredness.
This month is much more favorable, we still have some tough games but there's less of them and we'll have more recovery time in-between matches.
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 350843

A'erbin vs Wuhan (7/5/14) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 350840

I'm absolutely amazed with this result as A'erbin are the current Champions, so to beat them 4-0 at their ground is just exceptional.
We came straight out of the traps and just blew them away within 35 minutes, from then on they did try and put a bit of pressure on us but we defended really well.
This result really does prove we'll competitive this season.
Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Wuhan vs Tianjin (14/5/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 350833

Another very strong performance, we controlled this game with ease with the only negative being a embarrassing mistake from our goalkeeper to let them score.
It's also becoming very common for us to start very quickly, it's really good to see as we end matches really early on and then just sit-back and control.
Man Of The Match - Feng Gang

Wuhan vs Changchun (17/5/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 350830

A prime example of how our explosive starts really help us, we ended the match within 37 minutes so from then on we we were able to relax.
One thing that definitely needs improving is our defending of set-pieces, we seem to struggle with them so we'll work on that in training.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Yongchang vs Wuhan (21/5/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 350829

Incredible match and a really good example of our squad's determination, to keep bouncing back after conceding goals is a really encouraging sign for the rest of the season.
Our defense is starting to get a bit shaky, that's really the only worry at the moment though as we are playing really well.
Man Of The Match - Gao Ming

Shenhua vs Wuhan (24/5/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 350828

Really thought this was going to be one of them games where we did everything but score, thankfully our forward line is very strong and we eventually broke their resolve.
Man Of The Match - Liu Sen

View attachment 350827

ncredible way to start the season, I knew we were fairly strong after the media predicted us to finish 4th but I never expected us to go our first 13 matches unbeaten and sitting at the top of the table.
We've beaten some of the strongest teams in the League as well, so it's no fluke and we'll just look to carry on with this amazing form.

Just a bit of other news as well, I had a job offer from Dongya and obviously I turned it down...

Goal Of The Month

**** Qingfeng doesn't often get a game or many goals when he does, so when he scored this great strike I felt compelled to give him Goal Of The Month.

Player Of The Month

View attachment 350824

He scored in 4 out of the 5 matches this month, he keeps on playing really well at the age of 35 and we'll do well to find a better player than him when he eventually retires.

You're doing so well! 13 games unbeaten is amazing as a promoted team

Much happier with this month, we had more rest in between matches and the opponents were also a lot lower in quality than the previous months.
We also have a few cup matches, I think we have a great chance of winning it so I wouldn't want to slip up in these early rounds.

Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 349957

Yongchang vs Wuhan (21/6/17) Chinese FA Super Cup 3rd Rnd

View attachment 349956

We should of really won this game a lot more comfortably, Yongchang are bottom of the table but they gave us a very tough game due to our poor finishing.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Wuli (5/7/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349954

Amazed to keep a clean sheet in this match, unusually the other team made made more oppurtunites than us but fortunate our keeper was in top form and managed to pull off some great saves.
Good to see our finishing was back to it's normal clinical self as well after last match.

Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Chengdu vs Wuhan (8/7/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349930

Crazy end to the match, we should of never been in the position where we needed to score a 90th minute winner though.
The penalty miss nearly come back to bite us, luckily we have a very determined squad who never stop going until the final whistle.

Man Of The Match - Feng Gang

Dongya vs Wuhan (18/7/17) Chinese FA Super Cup 4th Rnd

View attachment 349927

Always horrible for someone to lose out on penalties but we easily deserved to win anyway.
I did get quite worried when we went to penalties, but I had nothing to fear as our penalties were perfect and our keeper was a hero.

Man Of The Match - Dong Xiandong

Wuhan vs Hangzhou (29/7/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349919

Apart from the late scare they gave us with the late goal, we really did dominate the match it's just a shame our shooting was a little inaccurate.
Man Of The Match - Gao Ming

Very impressive month, we won every single match and made some great progress in the cup.
I think we proved our mental strength this month, we have some very close matches but we managed to come put on top if all them, we also displayed our quality under pressure in a penalty shootout.
Here's the League Table...

Goal Of The Month

Amazing goal, great piece of skill to get away from the player and then a rocket strike past the keeper.

Player Of The Month

Easily the standout choice, he scored 5 goals in 5 games and also got some very important assists.

Transfer Update

View attachment 349863

View attachment 349862

Zou Peng is 34, he's also struggling with a lower back stress fracture which will keep him out for a few months.
I had been looking for a replacement and I finally found one, so it was definitely time for him to leave.

Here's who we signed...

View attachment 349861

View attachment 349860

Li Lei will be a very good signing, he's now our strongest midfielder and he can also fill in very well at left-back.

just read from page 4 until your latest update and I'm impressed! Keep it up mate, such a good read

I was beginning to worry something went wrong with your save, good to see you keep going!

Looking ahead at this month, it was clear that it was going to be very tough.
8 matches in 30 days, we also had some very important matches against teams like Guangzhou and Beijing.
If we could get through this month largely unscathed then it's put's in a great position to go and pick up some Trophies.
Here's the fixtures...

View attachment 349427

Liaoning vs Wuhan (1/8/17) Chinese FA Super Cup Quarter Final

View attachment 349426

Another penalty-shootout that we shouldn't have really had to take part in, I thought we had the game wrapped up after the two early goals but we let our standards slip in the second half and conceded two silly goals.
Luckily we kept our nerve in a penalty shootout again, Chi Wenyi really is becoming a great goalkeeper for us.
Man Of The Match - Gao Ming

Shandong vs Wuhan (6/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349425

Really happy with this performance, Shandong are a fairly strong team and have some strong players such as Walter Montillo.
So to put 6 goals past them shows just how strong we are.
Man Of The Match - Zeng Yongxuan

Jiangsu vs Wuhan (9/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349424

Quite disapointed with the draw, Jiangsu are struggling this season and we really should of been beating them comfortably especially with our current run of form.
We always start very quickly and usually put teams away within the first half, this match though we let them back in and had to be rescued by one of our star men Feng Gang.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Wuhan vs Dongya (12/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349423

Glad to bounce back with a win after our fairly disappointing draw withJiangsu, we controlled most of the play throughout the match but struggled to find a breakthrough until later on.All in all though it's a good win and it extends our unbeaten streak to 19 matches.
Man Of The Match - **** Xiwen

Wuhan vs Guangzhou (19/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349422

Really made up with this performance, Guangzhou were holding onto us in the table but this performance put a bit of gap between us and them.
I think the most encouraging thing to take from this performance is how we reduced them to only 3 shots on target, it really shows our domination in the match.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Beijing vs Wuhan (22/8/17) Chinese FA Super Cup Semi Final 1st

View attachment 349451

This is a very important cup tie, not just with being a semi-final it's also against our historic rivals.
This result leaves in a fairly strong position going into the second-leg in front of our own fans, I was very happy to get the two away goals which gives us a bit of an advantage.
Man Of The Match - Bo Jiangshan

Renhe vs Wuhan (28/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349438

Just an absolutely bizarre match, we really should have closed the match out when we went 3-0 up but we seem to be losing concentration quite a lot when we get the lead and this time we nearly really punished.
It felt like i was getting my own taste of Istanbul with the 3 goals from Renhe coming so quickly, thankfully we shown our determination and class and got the 4th goal to clinch the win

Man Of The Match - Zeng Yongxuan

Beijing vs Wuhan (30/8/17) Wanda Plaza Super League

View attachment 349431

So gutted, this result ends our incredible 21 match unbeaten streak and against Beijing as well.
To be fair to Beijing, unlike most teams in this division they really did give us a battle, just unluckily for us they got the only breakthrough late on.
Man Of The Match - Rao Weihui

Very important month for us, we've come out in a very strong position in the League Table and also given ourselves a great chance to get into Wuhan's first major final.
Although we lost our unbeaten streak, I think 21 games unbeaten for a promoted side is nothing short of incredible.
I did say if we come out of this month largly unscathen then we'll be in a very strong position and that's exactly what we've done with some great performances against Guangzhou and Shandong

Here's the League Table...

Goal Of The Month

Probably the best goal we've scored so far, it's an absolute screamer of the half-volley.
It always seems to the full-backs who score the best goals.

Player Of The Month

View attachment 349417

He was incredible this month, he contributed a lot of goals and his energy and work-rate was crucial to our great results this month.
His phyical stats are immense and he really put them to good use this month.
