But whats to stop us being another Newcastle,Leeds,Sheff Wed or Notts Forest?
They are all big clubs with a lot of history,they've been in the EPL with all that money and where are they now? its not a guarantee that with money comes success!

Aside from the fianancial gains,there is really nothing that should attract us to the EPL,the champions league is a more important competition,thats the level that the old firm should be aiming for,lets face it we more or less compete in it every year,thats where the likes of Man City's Sheikh owners want to be!

Maybe one day when the Billionaires realise that there is already 10 foreign owned clubs vying for those 4 prestigious champs league spots in the EPL they might choose an easier and alternate route up here? (fingers crossed!)

The Scottish league would also be wrecked and would diminish even farther than it has.

Why is that a problem...? The Old Firm has ALWAYS dominated Scottish Football. Its not a new phenomenon or a new problem that has arisen in recent years and demands a solution like moving them out of the league. There is nothing wrong with Rangers and Celtic dominating (well, maybe Celtic... (H) ). Its really no different than the big four dominating the Premiereship. The SPL has the same situation, but on a smaller scale - but then, its a smaller league, too.

Even if one feels the domination of the Old Firm is a problem, the solution isnt moving them out of the league (and thus killing the SPL). The solution is to more actively find ways to help Hibs and Hearts and strengthen the SPL middle class. Im not even sure that's a great idea, as there really isnt enough money to go around with only two CL spots. Strengthen the other guys too much and you diminish Rangers and Celtic - which is the best thing Scotland has going. Same way as if a bunch of middle class EPL teams all got billionaire owners and started to regularly place in the top 4 (as might be happening now...). Then youd have say, 8 teams spending money relative to Champions League spots - and each year 4 would fall short. Its great drama when this happens occasionally, but again - if it happens too much the league suffers. Man U suddenly would be out of the CL and losing money sometimes, lets say. English football would be worse off as a whole in that case.

The other issue with moving the Old Firm is that it would weaken the Premiereship in the way I just described... Lots of teams with big aspirations would be pushed aside. If Rangers and Celtic can between the two regularly grab two spots in Europe and the occasional top 4/CL spot, well, that really screws teams like Man City, Everton, Villa... who would all fall down a few notches and wouldnt be getting the windfall from participating in the Europa League or occasional CL spot.

Another concern is that moving the Old Firm would really hurt interest in the SPL, as well as its chances in Europe. It would fall way down the UEFA rankings... down below some really poor leagues. They would likely end up with 1 CL spot, perhaps one that requires them to come in before the group stages... that would really kill the league, and in the end, Scottish youth football would suffer and it would become a downward spiral of lessening quality, further pushing Scottish football to the fringes.

Of course, once again, there is ZERO chance of this happening, as the Old Firm will NEVER voluntarily give up their guaranteed huge Champions League paydays each year to go middle of the pack/contenders in the EPL.

Rangers came second in the European Cup quite recently. Celtic have aside from this year always in recent years gone through the Champions League group stages. Celtic have in recent years beaten Man Useless, AC Milan, Barca... Yep, we couldn't cut it in the EPL.
