Michael Owen is retiring not surprised really cannot stay clear of injury, I feel he should've achieved more in his career but I will always remember him for scoring this goal. Second best goal to gazza's I have ever seen in my lifetime for england.

Shame injuries absolutely tore his career. I'm not caring about the bile being posted on the BBC news site because it's just ****. He wasn't a "thief", moneygrabber or whatever. He loved football, just wanted to play football, and was tremondously talented. Injuries just stunted his potential to be world class. Always enjoyed watching him play with his blistering pace scaring back 4s and his finishing.

Edit - Steven Taylor called into national side to replace Cahill

Really? I thought some better club will snap him. He's pretty good. Good off the ball movement and clinical. Not the fastest, but not a slug either. Good in the air and has decent technique.

Keep your eye out for a special Lambert free kick against Chelsea. It was rather a pearler.

And if Chelsea go on to lose....I shall be visiting the Chelsea thread with a tub of popcorn and cuppa and waiting for a major implosion (6)

Rafa's selection-as much as I think he's an excellent manager-today has left me a bit baffled. Very odd. Southampton are ripping them to shreds right now

Sunderland have parted company with Martin O'Neill. Just breaking locally

Edit-or as it's facebook news feed and it's slow with the uptake of news, it may not be recent news lol

He had to go. There has been something missing for months now. He has lost his spark. Di matteo for me.

Andrew

Big gamble this late in the season though. And some of the players have simply gone missing or are just not playing to standard. And injuries haven't helped either. This is a major gamble by the board. I would've assumed the result of the Tyne/Wear derby would've determined his future

O'Neil had chance in jan to buy and he didn't he let more go than what he brought in. Letting Meyler go when Cattermole wasnt fully fit was bad idea. There was just something not clicking, weather it was cause there no robertson there I don't know.

Peter Reid till end of season. Get some passion into the players. Then Di Matteo

Goes to show that there are some really biased and cluelesss people in that association.

I feel RVP should have won the PFA Award! He was instrumental in winning the title for United!

Bale has been great as well, however, Spurs have won nothing and they might not even qualify for the ECL..

You need to look what the player has done for the team as well!

But congrats to Bale, he has been phenomenal this year :)

At least the Premier League POTY was not as ridiculous as the Championship one.

Naming Zaha was possible one of the worst decisions I can remember in recent times

Bale has been phenomenal this year, but seeing as its a seasonal award it should have been either Suarez or RVP IMO

Suarez for how he single handedly carried a team for long periods and for RVP's goals and helping United win the league
