Season Review

The season goal was to avoid going back down yet against all of the odds, some might say miraculously, we were able to win the league and claim a second league title in a row as we look exceed the last peak of the team. There were a number of great players who I feel can do a job in the Serie C.

I would guess that De Vincentis will be replaces by Iaboni next season which would be fair enough to me.

End of Season Awards

The team of the year is fair enough and I wouldn't change anyone. Silvestri played very well and I would have had him second in player of the season after the incredible De Chirico. Di Matera's goal to earn promotion was very good and deserved goal of the season. Folorunsho was great joining on a free in October. Silvestri also gets young player of the season that I would have also had him second for.

Players Stats
View attachment 172640
De Chirico at 17 was top scorer, had the highest average rating, the best pass completion percentage and won the most man of the match awards. Terriaca had an impressive 17 assists while Iaboni racked up an impressive 12 bookings on the season.

Agree with it about everything our average attendance is equivalent 22% of the population of the town. We showed the press what we could do as they thought we were going down.

InjuriesView attachment 172638
Something that was a big aid was the lack of injuries we suffered I fully expect the ones we avoided to destroy our squad next season.

Team Stats

Use these stats to guess what type of football we played this season.

Header's Won: Winner

View attachment 172637
The defence was well drilled and longs balls up to strikers made this an easy win.

Yellow Cards: Easy, Easy, Easy
View attachment 172636
With one more yellow card we would have had three times as many as the team in 3rd. We were smart and cynical but, it worked and we ran away with this stat.

Goals: Winner
View attachment 172635
Top scorers as Monteforte and De Chirico hit some big numbers with other players chipping in some good numbers as well. Incredibly Flamina who scored the second most had to win a playoff to avoid the drop.

Pass Completed: Last
View attachment 172634Barcelona pfff West Brom is where it is none of that tippy tappy side to side stuff

Pass Completion %: Last
View attachment 172628
Kick and rush just kick and rush. Still works passing is over rated

Goals Conceded: 3rdView attachment 172627
A pretty solid defence helped us to the title and can hopefully do well next year. We also had 14 clean sheets one behind the best side Aversa Normanna.

Fouls committed: WinnerView attachment 172626
Another win convincing especially as Venfro had an extra game. Although no where near as close as the yellow cards referee bias? No we made our fouls count.

Tackles Won: WinnerView attachment 172625
Most tackles and highest percentage of successful tackles are key for our solid defence.

Avg Attendence: 2nd
View attachment 172623
Despite almost certainly being from the smallest place we have the second highest attendance in the league

Big News

We have turned fully professional all it needed was the end of the Serie D Champions cup so that the season was over to the board and we will be on a more level playing field with other teams in the Serie C.

This meant that all of the big players contracts will be renegotiated so that the best players can get full time training.

So far signed to full time deals are:

GK: Elhan Kastrati signed a two year deal worth 11,000 Euros a year while back up keeper Vescio is expected to sign a 10k per annum deal also for two years.

Defence: Guarracino (RB) signed a two year deal worth 15,000 per year, Enoel De Vincentis (back up LB) signs a one year deal for 8,500, Vincenzo Abagnale (CB) signs a two year deal for 12,500 euros, Guglielmo Iovane (CB) signed a two year deal worth 8,500 per year, Francesco Iaboni (LB) the team leader in bookings personifies our spirit and hard work and signs a 3 year deal for 16,250 per year.

Midfield: Marco Marino (DM/CM) should sign a 10.5k per year deal for two years, Di Matera (AML) signs a two year deal worth 25,000 per year at 31 he is very much the elder statesman of the team and his experience will be helpful, Tomas Silvestri (CM) the player of the season signs a bargain 12,000 one year deal, Cardile (backup CM) was a cheap deal for 6,500 for one year a decent rotation option for that price, Pasquale Sellitti (CM) the 3rd choice rotation CM played well and signs a two year 13,250 euro deal, Valeiro Terriaca (AMR) he signs a two year 21,500 per year deal and Pasquale Valentino (AML) signs a one year deal for 11,500

Strikers: Sergio de Chirico our leading goal scorer signs a one year deal worth 10,500, Matteo Monteforte signs a bargain deal 10,000 per year for two years, Achille Almetti signs a two year deal worth 9,000 per year, youngster Luigi Luise signs a one year deal for 9,500

Not signing a new deal: Michael Folorunsho (CM) our signng of the season who bossed the middle of the 0pitch has decided that we aren't good enough for him now and he will leave, Andrea Luzi never earned a cent of his 22,500 euro deal and so wasn't offered a new deal, Axel Cedric Konan will retire at the end of the season but, he wouldn't have been offered a new deal anyway and Leonardo de Fillipo who was on loan any failed to play so will be leaving.

View attachment 172457

The window isn't open yet but, we have made some moves in the window to help strengthen the team for what will be a hard season ahead.

Two loanee's will be staying for next year Marciante has signed a new loan deal to stay for the season and Riccardo Capuano will sign on a free transfer after his contract with Lupa Roma ends. He has been here for the last two years so it will not be a big change.

But, the big thing will be the loss of Folorunsho

He is a talented player who will be missed

Personal Deal
View attachment 172454
A very nice bonus to the promotion a new contract worth 42.5 thousand per year for two years I also signed all of the staff to new deals as one scout one physio and my assistant manager go full time.

As my wage bill for the year is 480k this is a big chunk of that already taken care of as we have a third of it covered all ready and 100k more than we had last year

View attachment 172452
A bigger scouting range helps but, I will still almost exclusively go for Italian based players I would think

Castel di Sangro News

After getting promotion we got a reputation boost that still sees us behind a decent number of teams in the Eccelenza which will make attracting players harder.

Serie C Table and Schedule

There are a good number of big teams in this league so we will have to do well to avoid the drop the good thing is only one team automatically goes down.

View attachment 172258
We have more than three times worse odds than any team of winning the league so it is clear where the bookies think we will finish. Can we make it 3 promotions in a row?

View attachment 172256
We start out facing title favourite Crotone so it can only get easier after our start. Also in the Serie B miracle season we played 3 of the teams in this division Salernita, Foggia and Cosenza

Folorunsho couldn't be convinced to sign a new deal and after he was released he wanted 115k a year so he couldn't stay. Luzi was unhappy and I didn't want him so that was mutual while Konan ends his time in the game.View attachment 172253

I will go over all of the deals in more detail later but, that is a quick overview. As you can see youth was the order of the day with all but one player 19

Woah, promoted again!? At 1000-1 would be good to see you make it 3, literally against all odds :P

That would be great hopefully effort can still trump what talent their is at this level or else we will be in trouble. The odds aren't great but, given our finances I wish we could put 100 euros on us to win.

**** it Liverpool! AC Milan did a similar thing on my save with El Shaarawy, he joined Monaco for 9m or something and then blew something like 30, 40, 45 million to bring him back two or three years later

You've done so well this far, I'm sure you'll find a way to give the league a good run for its money! And yes, that would be an interesting feature to have - in game betting to raise some cash! Haha.

He didn't do that well on top of it 17 goals over two seasons. With El Shaarawy I think he has a clause but, that is a lot to bring him back

Wow Australia has a chance to play in the world cup final. It reminds me of Greece when we we won the European Championship in 2004 !!

Ukraine winning a World Cup in Russia... That would be such a riot...XD

Let it be known, while I've been following how this story unfolds since (almost) the beginning I haven't posted here due to the sadness of seing Morro d'Oro being swallowed by the oblivion of relegation.
A team with such a name (Morro d'Oro <-> Golden Muzzle) is destined for greatness not ostracism.

Oh well... Your squad's name is not so bad either (Castel di Sangro <-> ****** Castle).

What this team has done sure is impressive, two consecutive promotions in a row against all odds (everybody and their grandmother in Italy predicted them to drop into relegation every time) and they're now in the bronze tier of Italian football (once again with everybody predicting your relegation).

It will be a tough season, but show the media what Castel di Sangro is made of ^^

Yeah I hadn't thought of that it would be odd. That is such a good name I hope they can improve just for the name.

Apparently the exact translation is a bit debated due to the Abruzzan dialect it was named in but, ****** Castle or Castle of Blood is most likely. Whoever named places in the area wasn't a cheery person the Sangro (Blood) river flows through the town hence the name, there is also the valley of dead women that the village borders and bitterness peak nearby.

Thanks, any optimistic local fans could have made a killing on us if they had faith.

Thanks hopefully another memorable season for us

Yeah I think the Aussies would be a massive surprise bigger than Greece but, Ukraine would still be a shock but, not as much. There must have been some party after that result probably second biggest shocking Euro winners after the Danes in 1992

This is very impressing! Keep up the good work.

Argentina failed to read the movie script beating Ukraine 3-1 after Ukraine knocked the Aussies out with a three nil win.

However,
View attachment 171851
The Aussies still managed to end the World Cup with a shock beating a full strength Uruguay team to claim a very impressive third place finish Daniel De Silva was the key man in that game and earns less per year at 36,500 euros than most of the Uruguayan team does in a week
