I had this one then lost interest in it and started a Sheff Utd one but then there seemed to be people interested in this one so I decided to stat concentrating on this story and leave the Sheff Utd one for a while. Are you not allowed 2 stories?

The club played a total of 6 pre season friendlies in the last two months. We only ended up getting beat once by Man Utd and also got a good draw against Liverpool. Below are the fixtures and goal scorers from the friendly games.

I am pleased with our efforts during pre season and am confident that we are well prepared for the premier league opener.
Boyd impressed during pre season
we have been handed the toughest of start to our Premier League life with an away trip to Anfield. We then go to Craven Cottage which is followed by our first Premier League home game against Bolton.

August Update
In our first month in the Premier League we where handed three very hard fixtures with two away games and just the one home game. We also kicked of our league cup game campaign with a Second Round tie with Scunthrope.
Not the best start to the league for my young side but we did battle well in all three games which is encouraging. We ran Liverpool very close until a Gerrard goal killed us late on. The biggest disappointment was the lack of goals we scored particularly in the Bolton game.
We are pleased that we seen off Scunthrope in the League Cup which saw a string of top class performances from the younger players. We now play Blackburn in the Third Round
We picked up one point from three games month which isn't going to be a good enough points ratio in the long term. Our one point earned see's us take up 17th place in the league which funnily enough we would be happy if the season ended today

In a very though month there was only a few player that impressed and stood out. Nicky Maynard's constant running and work rate make him a contender for the Player o*9+f the Month award. Seamus Coleman was also impressive at getting forward from right full back but my Player of the Month award goes to Allan McGregor who made a string of world class saves throughout the month of August.

As we scored very few goals this month there wasn't much competition for the Goal of the Month but the one Premier League goal we did score against Fulham was a great counter attack that was finished of by Nicky Maynard with a great header gets the award.

Again as we made a poor month I was limited when choosing our Performance of the Month. However the League Cup victory against Scunthrope stands out as the young boys came in mixed with some older heads and have given me a few thing to thing about.
