Unchanged for us, and why would we change when we are in such excellent form.

A fantastic win against 5th place Leipzig to close the gap further on the Euro qualification spots. We feel so settled at the moment and look lethal in the attacking third. A goal and two assists for Mane, Two goals and an assist for Mayoral, a goal for Max Arnold and two assists for Ricardo Rodriguez. Good times.

Unchanged again for a huge match against a very good Sevilla side. They are going to be well drilled and in our faces, and I can only assume they will press us in the usual Klopp way. The pace of Mane could come in very useful this afternoon if thats the case.

Four wins on the bounce! and this one was a massive performance! an all important clean sheet to deny them an away goal, while Bruma and Gomez struck at the other end to give us an advantage going in to the away leg. If we can score one in Spain, they will need four!

Just the one change for us and its an enforced one. Jeffery Bruma is suspended after picking up so any bookings, allowing Fosu-Mensah to come in to the heart of the defence to partner Kolarov. This Dortmund side is quite frankly scary. What the line-ups dont show is that they still have Gotze, Schurrle, Aubameyang and Coutinho on the bench!

Oh so close! An amazing effort to hold Dortmund, and if the game had finished 10 seconds earlier it would have been a win! Mane and Draxler were again the stars, prowling the wings while Mario Gomez also kept up his excellent run of scoring form. 7 games unbeaten in the league now!

Wow that Dortmund game looked epic. Hopefully you can crack into Europe again.

Bruma returns to the side, replacing Fosu-Mensah in our only change. At this stage of the season, momentum is much more important than rotation to keep players happy.

That was brutal. We were hanging on for most of the game, although we had chances of our own. I had just decided I was happy to hang on for penalties when Jung got himself sent off and with just 10 men we were completely overrun. They have done to us what we did to Fenerbahce.. and it doesnt feel good.

Big game against a very very good side. We could really do with a reaction following the 4-0 drubbing by Sevilla, and I cant imagine a better team to do it again if we can. Kolarov drops to the bench following some poor performances meaning Knoche comes in to the team and gets a chance to show what he can do.

What a match. very close and very bad tempered, it went right down to the wire. We were 3-2 up after 80 minutes but then we conceded the equaliser and then gave away a penalty! I really thought we had thrown it away but then up steps Cillessen to make a world class save. A good point, but again it could have been more, we are really going to have to work on our defence.

Another huge game against 5th place Hertha. If we have any ambitions of qualifying for the Europa League then this is a game we should be looking at winning. Unfortunately both of our full backs, Rodriguez and Jung, are out suspended meaning Kolarov and Trasch are in to an otherwise unchanged side.

Poor again as we fail to pick up the win we needed. I suppose the positive is that at least they are not puling away from us, but we remain stranded 6 points away from Europa League football.

March Review

View attachment 119589
Only the one defeat, but it will go down as a month of what could have been. Three draws against three teams that are above us in Dortmund, Sevilla and Hertha. if we had one some of those the gap would be non-existent. Out of the Europa League as well after a complete collapse, but we are still going ok in the league, if nothing else I have stabilised the club.
Table
View attachment 119587
Barring something extraordinary, Dortmund have won the league and Freiburg are getting relegated. We are currently 6 points off the Europa League spots and only 7 points behind a Champions League push, but with only 7 games left it is looking like a long shot.

Player of the Month
View attachment 119586
Borja Mayoral is a player that I really like. Four goals this month and a couple of assists mark him out as one of our top players. I have already been on to Real Madrid to try and arrange a permanent deal for him but they have absolutely no intention of selling. Replacing him next year is going to be a tough ask.

April/May Fixtures

A fairly nice run of fixtures to end the season, with the game against Schalke standing out as well as the match against 6th place Koln on the final day of the season!

a MASSIVE win to get some momentum back. I celebrated this one like I had won the league after a late Mario Gomez goal off the bench secured us three points. Might have done several fist pumps, not going to lie. I am having a real problem with Draxler at the moment. He is sulking because I didnt sell him in January, his morale is poor and he is putting zero effort into his playing. I just cant bring myself to drop him.

Unchanged again as once again I cant bring myself to drop Draxler. I have the kid Azzoui on the bench who looks like hes going to be class, so perhaps if he can prove himself off the bench he could get a run of starts.

Gutting again. We are so inconsistent it is unbelievable and I'm not sure we would know what a clean sheet was if it slapped us in the face, granted their goal was a cruel deflection but we are just not getting the luck we need. Mane got his 5th of the season to level things up, but its two points dropped rather than one gained.

I have absolutely no explanation for what just happened. A truly dreadful performance as we got absolutely battered by 14th in the League. That is now 1 win in the last 7 games. A change in tactics is probably needed. Unless the guys above really slip up that is probably the end of our hopes for European football.

We travel to bottom of the league Freiburg today, desperate for a win. We keep our basic shape but change the tactic up quite a lot, focusing on keeping possession and working for the chance. Fosu-Mensah is in to the side to replace Knoche and Draxler is restored to the starting line up as well.

View attachment 119517
View attachment 119516
It was a lot closer than I had hoped for, but we got the job done! and we kept a clean sheet! Axel Witsel was the unlikely hero as he somewhat scuffed his shot into the bottom corner early on and we held our nerve to take three massive points.

A better performance as we huffed and puffed but we couldnt get the ball in the back of the net. Another clean sheet shows that the two holding midfielders might be a better fit for us rather than just the one.

A point to end our season on a slightly damp note. Again we controlled the match fairly well and it was Draxler that got our goal, equalising after we conceded from a corner. I think this is going to be the formation we carry forward into next year.

End of Season Review

View attachment 119465
So Bayern come from nowhere to win the title for the 6th year running! Dortmund absolutely bottled it. In terms of us? the board wanted a mid table finish, I gave them a mid table finish, but there is a real air of dissatisfaction around the club after my good start fizzled out in to a lot of dropped points and poor performances. As I havn't been at the club too long, I wont go into huge detail about end of season awards and the like.

View attachment 119464
As you can see, the fans were not overly happy with the players I let leave the club, but seemed a lot more satisfied with the players I brought in. Cillessen was superb and the first thing I will do in the off season is try and tie that up permanently. Sadio Mane was also very good with 5 goals and 7 assists in 17 appearances, plenty of promise going in to next season. Kolarov and Witsel were both very solid and look to add depth to the spine of the team.

View attachment 119463
A fairly healthy transfer budget again for me to play with the squad and see if I can make improvements. Should be an interesting off season!

View attachment 119462
You will also be delighted to hear that Sunderland survived! only by 5 points, but that is easily enough to retain their place in the league for yet another season.

Some good results and I'm sure with a full summer window and pre-season your boys will be up and challenging the top end next season. Tying Cillessen down to a permanent deal is the first thing to do and then spend your remaining £22m wisely, which i'm sure you will having seen the deals done last time.

Absolutely loving this story, can't wait to get FM but have to wait until after Christmas because of uni. Will you leave Wolfsburg if you once again fail to get European football or if a bigger club comes in? Or even a similar club, such as Napoli/Marseille/Valencia, etc?

Thanks guys :) it's been a big transfer window already! I will do a full update soon. If the chance came to leave for a bigger club, I would almost definitely take it, but that is a big if. I feel like I have something to prove here first. Having thought about it, I would love to win each of Europes big 5 leagues in this save, and I cant see me winning the bundesliga with Wolfsburg.

A big transfer window for the club with huge changes, I guess the only place to start is with the outs.

Out

Julian Draxler - £40 mil - FC Bayern

He was unhappy, he wanted to leave, he wanted Champions League football, he wanted a pay rise from his £135k a week. The list of his demands went on and on, so I cashed in. Bayern were happy to meet the price tag, beating the likes of City and Tottenham to his signature. A huge amount of money to bring in and reinvest in the club.

Luiz Gustavo - £6.75 mil - Manchester City

Gustavo was a player that I actually wanted to get rid of. 31 years old, £180k a week and a tendency to make rash and stupid challenges. It was better for us that he left so I could rebuild with the free wages.

Harold Preciado - £3.5 mil - Hertha

A player who had no place at the club. A bid came in and I accepted it instantly, another £40k shaved off our wage bill and some extra money to put towards players I want to bring in.

Josh Guilavogui - £2.3 mil - Montpellier

Had an awful season with an average rating of less than 6.3 from 13 games. While his stats suggest he could be very good, I dont have the time or the safety in my job to take a risk on him, he leaves.

Luka Milivojevic - Loan - AC Milan

He wanted to leave. I couldnt get him a permanent deal away for him due to lack of interest, so instead he moves to Italy for the year.

Ins

Angel Correa - £5.5 mil - Atletico

View attachment 119299
Brought in as a direct replacement for Julian Draxler. A player I have always loved, he found himself on the transfer list so I snapped him up. it will take a little bit of re-training to get him used to playing on the left hand wing, but I am confident he can handle it.

Franck Kessie - £9.75 mil - FC Barcelona

View attachment 119297
Another direct replacement, this time for Luiz Gustavo. The lad comes with huge potential and is very highly rated by my scouts. His physicals and mentals look very good and maybe with a bit of work on his first touch and technique he can be a world beater. On a third of the wages that Gustavo was on.

Salomon Rondon - £15 mil - West Brom

View attachment 119296
£7.5 mil up front, £7.5 mil in instalments, Rondon is our third direct replacement, coming in for the outgoing Borja Mayoral who returns to his parent club Real Madrid. Tall, Strong, Fast, Composed, lethal in the air and with his feet, Rondon scored 15 goals in the Prem last season and I am sure he can lead our line, rotating with Gomez.

Jason Denayer - £5.5 mil - Manchester City

View attachment 119295
A player I have previous with! I managed Denayer at Sunderland and was impressed with him then. I was looking for a centre back to partner Bruma and I jumped at the chance of bringing this guy in for a very reasonable fee. He still has some developing to do but his pace and strength could be an asset for us.

Shinji Kagawa - Free Transfer

View attachment 119294
An absolute steal! The boy is class and is still only 29. He took a little bit of convincing, but he came around and joins us at Wolfsburg. Able to play anywhere along the attacking line, he can bring quality and experience to our game, and for no fee!

Leroy Sane - Loan - Manchester City

View attachment 119293
Wasn't a part of my transfer plans, but when I saw him loan listed I just had to! A tricky German winger, he can add competition for places with Mane, Correa, Kagawa and Arnold, he has the potential to be an absolute game changer. Best not get too attached though, no way they are letting him go to make this permanent.

David Ospina - Free Transfer

View attachment 119292
Signed on a free transfer after Jasper Cillessen broke our hearts. He wanted £160k a week to make his move permanent, which I just couldnt give him so we made our move for this lad instead. Just released by Arsenal, the Colombian is only 29 and a world class keeper. We could do a lot worse.

Jasper Cillessen - Loan - FC Barcelona

View attachment 119290
And then Cillessen decided he wanted to leave Barcelona and got put back on the loan list, so naturally we made our move. While it is frustrating not to have him tied up permanently, we now have two great goalkeepers on our books, and we are only having to pay Cillessen £30k a week!

Maya Yoshida - £1.6 mil - West Brom

View attachment 119289
Might seem a bit of a strange one for most people, but Maya is a player I know very well as a Southampton fan and is a player I trust. Solid rather than spectacular, he joins as backup for the centre back position and his mental's and physicals show just how solid he is. Also the 2nd Japanese player to sign for the club this window, potentially boosting our fan base in Asia!

Kristoffer Ajer - Loan - West Ham

View attachment 119287
Joining on loan from Europa League champions West Ham (yes you did read that correctly) the giant Norweigan offers us depth in the centre of the park. His size and strength make him a formidable option for us, but dont let that fool you, he is very good technically and can chip in with the goals too.

Enes Unal - Loan - Manchester City

View attachment 119284
Much like the Kessie deal, I have kind of trusted my scouts on this one. I needed a third striker to act as back up and this lad was loan listed. His stats are extremely good and my scouts reckon he could be one of the best in the world. I dont know a lot about him, but he could certainly do a job for us.
