Transfer Window

Today, 1st February 2012 the January transfer window closed which was a quite qindow all around for England. The biggest deals struck were surprisingly done bt West Ham as they brought in Michael Ciani for a fee of £10.25 million. Tottenham also completed the signing of Abdou Traore from Hoffenheim for £9.5 million.

Ciani and Traore completed the biggest moves of the English window, moving to West Ham and Tottenham respectively.

Elsewhere, Port Vale boss Daniel Oakes swooped to sign three players in this window. The first he unveiled was Shaleum Logan on a free transfer.

The other two signings were both loan signings and that takes Port Vale's loanees up to six for this season. They joined on the second from last day of the window. The first of them was centre back Jordan Spence on a deal until the end of the season. The final signing made by Oakes was Corry Evans who joined them on a loan deal for 12 months.

Jordan Spence and Corry Evans join Shaleum Logan at Vale park this January.

Daniel Oakes had this to say: '' I am delighted with the signings I have made this January. We needed to strengthen up at the back and I believe that is what we have done. Shaleum is a young player and I believe that he will provide excellent backup for Kerrea Gilbert in our right back position and he can also play on the wing and at left back. Jordan Spence is another very good deal for us. Jordan is also versatile as he is capable of playing in the centre back and the right back position and he is of the quality that he will push for his place in both of those positions. I believe our best signing is Corry Evans on loan from Arsenal. I believe that Corry is a very talented player and his ambitious character match our ambitions as a club. He can play centre back but he is more at home in the middle of the park or as a defensive midfielder. It is very reassuring to have versatile players that can fill in at diffferent positions in a crisis. I believe we have the squad now that can push on for Championship football next season''.

Charlton 0-1 Port Vale Topp

MOM- ***** Topp 7.4

I am very pleased with this solid performance from the lads to win at the Valley against a very solid Charlton Athletic team. We were the better team today and a goal from ***** ensured that we gained a good win that we deserved.

Port Vale 1-0 Blackpool Topp

Another good ***** Topp performance today ensured that we scraped through a difficult home game against Blackpool. ***** scored another goal today and I am very happy with him and our victory today.

Port Vale 3-1 Luton Murphy, Kakuta, John-Baptiste

MOM- Alex John-Baptiste 8.1

Another win for us today in front of our home fans. We put in a great collective team performance today and picked up another win on the road to the Championship. Alex John-Baptiste showed once again why he has been more than good enough to fill Zak Whitbread's boots.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy North Final 1st Leg

Walsall 1-0 Port Vale

MOM- Carl Magnay 7.5

I am very disappointed from our defeat today. Walsall were a team I expected to go and get a result from but they proved to be the better team as our boys did not show up. We will need to attack from the off in the 2nd leg to get us to Wembley.

FA Cup 5th Round

Port Vale 1-2 Arsenal Murphy

Although we fell to defeat today, this was a very spirited performance from the lads. We equaled them at 1-1 and had a couple of chances but their class shone through. We are out of the Cup but we are out in style as nearly 20,000 showed up at Vale Park to see a great effort by the boys.

Port Vale 1-1 Notts County Kakuta

Back to League One for this game and we played one of the best teams in the division, the high flying Notts County. I am pleased with a draw today as we played well and so did they and the result was one for both sides. This puts us fourth in the league but we have two games in hand due to recent activity in the Cups.

League Table

I am very proud of our position in the League. We only lie fourth because we have two games in hand and we are five points behind the top team. If we keep our heads down and win our games in hand we will be top of the league. I now call the team to focus as these coming months could be the most important in the clubs existence and as long as we focus and play our best we should get promotion.

doing absolutely brillaint in the league mate and nice to see murphy put one past arsenal.

Good going. Win the two games in hand and you'll go top! KIU!

I have now finished the season and all the updates will come tomorrow with a thrilling end of season update! Hope you enjoy!
