November/December Update

Here are Port Vale's latest results running from November up till the new year starting with Vales's first game in the FA Cup.

I played a weakened side in this match and am very pleased that they easily defeated Ashford and qualified for the next round. Unfortunately our FA Cup run looks likely to be halted as we have drawn Brighton away in the next round.

I am very disappointed with this result in front of our home fans. We were the weaker team and they took their chances and beat us comfortably. I am pleased for ***** Topp, that he scored his first goal for the club and I hope he will add to this in the coming months.

I am very pleased with this win. We were the better team and deserve to win by a much greater margin.

View attachment 25849

Back to back wins is a rarity for us this season and I am delighted to have secured another win today. We were the better team and got the win we deserved.

View attachment 25850

I knew this would be a tough match but we were very good throughout the match as we refused to lie down. However we came unstuck once and that proved to be our downfall as we got eliminated from the FA Cup.

December

View attachment 25851

This was a great win in response to being knocked out of the FA Cup. The team are finally gelling and I am hoping that promotion may be a realistic target. Another brace from Topp sealed us a comfortable victory.

View attachment 25852

Another win which makes it four straight wins in the league. Goals from Topp and De Laet allowed us to take a closely fought encounter.

View attachment 25853

Well..... it cannot go on forever. Although we suffered defeat we showed our grit and determination as we nearly came back from 4-1 down to grab a draw but was not to be and Northampton deserved their win.

View attachment 25854

We vounced back to winning ways today with a comfortable victory. Topp was in great form again spearheading a Vale victory. Nardiello completed the scoring with his first goal for the club.

View attachment 25855

Back to back wins once again with a good oerformance against Burton. They prved very difficult to break down but we got there in the end with yet another ***** Topp strike.

There isn't anything better than finishing the year with a bang. This was a great match and we came back from two goals to nil down to win an absolute thriller.

I am absolutely delighted to be in the play off places at the half way point. This did not look possible after the first couple of month but we have had a brilliant November and December with a brilliany seven wins out of nine in the league. I just hope we can continue this form and guarantee at least a play-off spot come the end of the season.

Daniel has been fantastic for us in the last few months. He has scored a few goals and has the second highest average rating for the whole league. I am delighted with his form and hope it can continue for the rest of the season.

***** has been brilliant for us in the half season we have played. He only joined in October but as soon as he got settled he has been in fine form. In around 16 appearances he has scored 12 goals in the league and I hope that he can continue this form. I am surprised that I am not fighting bigger clubs off of him!

It is not just these two that have been good it is the whole squad that have chipped in now and then and they will need to keep going to achieve what I hope to achieve.

The Vale are on the up!

Great stuff mate, hopefully get promoted.

hey wow, last time I read this you were struggling at the bottom, what a turn around!
im hoping to see the vale up in league 1.
bit upset to see you beat the mighty crewe alex though, my local side :( how are they doing?

yeah ur results are really picking up now, aprt from the minor blips but looks like u will challenge for the play offs at least

hopefully!

Crewe are just above lurking in 6th Hopefully i can Overhaul them come the end of the season

Idrissa keita!
Dja Ettien!
David eto´o!(brother of samuel etoo)
these ones u have to look at them ! good luck!

improving there mate your team ust needs to come together a bit more.

when looking at free agents look at their stats through the "views" for a defender click on defensive for an attacker click attacking etc I find you can find a lot more quality frees this way.

Thanks for the tip mate I have just secure a few quality frees unfortunately my wage budget is now a minus! Hope we dont go under!

First i would like to say your Avatar is far too nice for me to be looking at while at work.

Amazing turn around for you. If you can keep winning games back to back you should get into the play offs.

thanks Kris so I guess you are a follower? Update will be up sooner rather than later as I have just finished January.

Oakes picks up two bargains in January sales

This January in form Port Vale manager Daniel Oakes has moved quickly to snap up two players on a free transfer. These are Iiro Aalto, a 32 year old left sided defender snapped up off the free agents list after his TPS contract expired in December. He is rumoured to have signed an 18 month contract worth £950 a week. The second signing is an Ivory Coast international and his name is Idrissa Keita. The player is very versatile as he is able to play as a central defender, defensive midfielder or central midfielder at a competent level. ''I am delighted to make these two signings, these two players add much needed experience to a young squad and I believe that returning them to first team football will do them the world of good''.
The players profiles are shown below:

In other news, this month has seen two departures from the club, defender Lee Collins has joined Mansfield for a fee of £14K and Doug Loft has been released on a free transfer. In response to this, Oakes had this to say ''Lee and Doug were good players for us but I did not see them in my plans for the future and because of this I offloaded them to get them off the wage bill. I wish Lee and Doug all the best in their future endeavours''.

De Laet is a good signing mate, got him on loan at my Leeds side and he's doin great :) Good luck even if you are a Vale fan!

The sales are over, lets get back to business!

I am delighted at the late comeback by the lads. We were 2-1 down with five minutes to go until Marc Richards grabbed a very late brace to secure a great victory.

View attachment 26024

This was another good win. A great performance by Topp rewarded him with a goal against his former club. Marc Richard's also continued his rich vain of form with another goal.

View attachment 26025

This was the same score as the first game of the season. We came to Spotland with full intention of continuing our winning streak but that was not to be as we came up against a resilient Rochdale team and a draw was a fair result.

View attachment 26026

Back to winning ways here and this result makes us seven games unbeaten in the league and on an ultimate high. Goals from Topp, Keenan, Richards and Fraser sealed a brilliant four goals to one victory in front of our home fans.

View attachment 26027

****! Our unbeaten streak came to an end here. I expected to win this match comfortably but the players were very complacent and we found ourselves two nil down at half time. We battled back to two all but then we were caught napping late on and that cost us a frustrating defeat.

View attachment 26028

Despite our loss against Hereford, I am very happy at our league position after January. I never thought this was possible after our rotten start but the team is gelling brilliantly and we are only four points behind the automatic spots. I now expect us to finish off in the playoffs and I will tell the players not to get complacent and fight on to try and clinch a top three finish!

matteee, getting on here. I said you'd be fighting for premiership status in five years, so don't let me down! looks like you're getting there, some great results in there, and getting out of league 2 is the easiest because there are three automatic spots up for grabs. Make sure you get one of them mate! Good luck.
