After a great January, can the Valiants carry on their great run of form

We had a great month last month but we will need to keep it up as it is very tight up at the top and we will need to keep going well to ensure that we hold on to the playoffs.

Here are our results for the last two months.

I am very happy with this win as it continues our promotion charge and it is always a better win when it is away from your home ground. Another from ***** Topp and an own goal from Ryan Shotton helped us to a tough win at Burton.

View attachment 26360

I am very disappointed with this loss. This puts us right back in the pack . We did not perform well at all and deserved to lose as they produced more chances and were the better team.

View attachment 26361

This was a game I expected to win and we looked like doing so. This was until we were caught napping again late on and as a result were denied two extra points.

View attachment 26362

Another home game which I expected to win. Lincoln are not a bad side but I thought we would have enough to see them off. This was not the case as they beat us in possession but in principle it was the right result.

View attachment 26363

After three games without a win, I was very happy when we won at Morecambe. McCombe returned to the side and scored as well as in form Tommy Fraser to guide us to a comfortable and important victory.

After a poor February, lowering us down to 5th in the league, can we recouperate in March to try and grab that last automatic promotion spot in a hotly contested promotion chase.

View attachment 26364

I am very happy with getting a second win in a row against Northampton. This was a tough game where one flash of brilliance by Daniel Pacheco helped us grind out a win.

View attachment 26365

A win over Chesterfield mae it three wins in a row for the team. We are back to our best now and I am very confident of sealing that last promotion spot if we continue to play like we did in this game.

View attachment 26366

Another away win today cranks up the pressure on 3rd place Dagenham, we were the better team today and just edged out a two goals to one victory.

View attachment 26367

Wow! This brilliant win against our local rivals made it five wins in a row for us in the league. We went in to the second half two goals to one up and they came out fighting. Luckily they missed a couple of chances and we hit them on the counter with a classic ***** Topp goal to make it 3-1. Topp comnpleted his hatrick to complete a memorable victory for Vale which makes them do the double on Crewe this season.

This is the league table with just eight games to go. We showed brilliant guts to come back after a poor month in February with four wins in March and have pushed ourselves into clear promotion contenders. I will do my best to ensure that the lads do not get overconfident and try my damndest to get that last automatic spot. We have some very important games on the run in against fellow promotion contenders such as Dagenham & Redbridge and Rotherham and these games are must wins if we are to grab that third place!

Come on lads, we can do it!

Triple wammy of awards follows Vale's successful month

Today Port Vale manager was given the Coca Cola League Two manager of the month award for March. He lead his side to four wins from four games. This is the first time he has won the award and this is what he had to say, ''I am delighted and honoured to receive this award for this month and I can only thank the players. They have played the football this month that have lead us to four straight wins''.

To add to this, Daniel Pacheco won the March player of the month award. He has performed really well this month and deserves the award for his displays. Daniel is the second Port Vale player to claim the monthly award after ***** Topp claimed the award in January.

In other news, Adam Yates collected the goal of the month award for March after scoring a long range curling shot aginst Cheltenham earlier on in the month. One of ***** Topp's goals in the victory against Crewe got third best goal in March.

Umm... this may sound dumb but why is it called, "The Wonder of you?"

Anyway, you're doing really well, not long left of the season, lets get promoted!

It is called that because that is Port Vale's anthem, The Wonder of You by Elvis Presley and it has recently been stolen by Arsenal lol You should listen to it on Youtube it is a sweet anthem

Ahh I see thanks for clearing that up for me :)

No prblem I will now be doing te updates match by match as I am only eight games from the end of the season! You guys dont mind do you?

Not at all mate, I'd prefer it that was :)

Ten men Vale hold on for vital draw

Rotherham 0-0 Port Vale

In a tightly fought contest today, Port Vale managed to get a draw with only ten men on the pitch. On the balance of the chances each team had, a draw was the fair result but when Joe Keenan got sent off after a second bookable offence on 66 minutes, a point for Vale was in doubt. However, the Vale fortress held strong and they grinded out a vital point at Don Valley Stadium.

Port Vale hold on to their 3rd position after a draw makes them eight games unbeaten in the league. Their next game in two days time will be vital as they are playing 4th place Dagenham and could put some space between them and 4th.

Ten men Vale produce Topp notch display to see off Dagenham

Port Vale 2-0 Dagenham & Redbridge

***** Topp produced a great performance today to help see off Dagenham & Redbridge. Him and Marc Richards scored the goals for Vale today to put the result out of the reach of Dagenham. When Anthony Griffith was sent off in the 73rd minute, Dagenham may have had some hope but this hope was extinguished by Marc Richards after he scored Vale's second in the ninetieth minute.

This win consolidates Vale's third position in the league and this is the league table after 30 games.

Doing a good job mate when I played a season in League 2 with Torquay I felt that Port Vale were one of the sronger sides in the division. If you need help on any signings just ask me I know loads for lower league clubs.

Also if you have the time check out my Torquay Story i'm doing. Will update tomorrow afternoon though as i'm currently doing revision for an important exam tommorow morning.

Okay thanks for your comments mate and keep reading I will give your Torquay one a look!

Alder-shot as Vale run goes on

Port Vale 1-0 Aldershot

Port Vale, today pulled off another win in a very close encounter at Vale Park. The game always looked like one goal would settle it and this proved to be as ***** Topp converted in the thirtieth minute. This win stretches Port Vale's unbeaten streak in League Two to ten games without losing. It also enhances Vale's promotion hopes with just seven games left in the season and clinging on to 3rd place.

Vale's have a tough game next as they travel to second place Accrington on Tuesday 13th April.

End of April Update

These are the three league gams which completed the end of April and they were all against the top four opposition in the league.

Accrington 1-0 Port Vale

I am very disappointed with this result as we were much the better team. We had a lot of chances but could not take any of them. They had very few chances but just happened to take one of them and then shut up shop.

Bury 1-1 Port Vale Topp

We played well in this game and thoroughly deserved the win. Topp scored earlier in the game and we didn't look in that much danger when we had a nightmare and Idrissa Keite gave away a penalty in stoppage time and it was converted and it cost us three very valuable points.

Port Vale 1-2 Notts County

I am disgusted with our performance against the top of the league side. They dominated us all the game and somehow we looked like pulling off a draw but Lee Hughes stopped that with a strike fifteen minutes from time.

We lie in fourth and with two games to go and I am very disappointed. It appeared that we did not handle the pressure against the big teams. Oh well, we still have two games left and are one point behind third place. If we win both games we will have a bit of a chance but we must make that happen!

Bournemouth 1-2 Port Vale

This game at Bournemouth today really proved to be a game of two halves. Bournemouth took the lead after thirty five minutes through Callum McNish and looked value for their lead going into half time. I gave the boys an absolute rollacking at half time and told them to come out fighting which is exactly what they did. ***** Topp came back to his goalscoring form with a glorious performance including a brace in just twenty minutes. It was then squeeky *** time as we just managed to hold on for victory.

Unfortunately this result still leaves us one point behind Dagenham going into the final game as they beat Hereford 1-0 at home. We must beat Shrewsbury at home and hope that already relegated Darlington can get a result off them which is less than likely!

Have you run out of witty match headlines?! :)

Your doing well mate, Keep it up!

Yes I have I'm afraid I can't keep saying in Topp form! it gets a bit tedious

Last game of the season

Port Vale 2-1 Shrewsbury Town

Port Vale overcame a resilient Shrews team today to record a win they needed badly. I made a big decision at the start of the game and decided to start an injured Daniel Pacheco as he would be back to full fitness within a day and I believe that he was ready for the game. He proved this as he set up ***** Topp to score our first goal. Hibbert equalised for the Shrews and that took us into the break level at one goal a piece. I brought Pacheco off for Kevin Thornton and he repayed me by scoring the winning goal just after the hour mark.

Even though this was a great win for Vale it would not mean a thing if Dagenham won at the Darlington Arena. Suddenly all Vale fans were supporting a different black and white team!

Lets see the result from Darlington....................

Darlington 4-0 Dagenham and Redbridge

Already relegated Darlington absolutely smashed promotion chasers Dagenham at their arena tonight. This means more to Port Vale fans as Darlington allowed them to go up in an automatic third place promotion spot. A hatrick from former Vale winger Jeff Smith led a 4-0 hammering of the promotion contenders and Smith will always be in Vale fans hearts. Dagenham will now have to fight out the chance of going up through the playoffs against Barnet, Bury and Shrewsbury.
