Pre-season Update

Here are the friendlies that we played in July and August. I arranged a lot of home games against larger reputation teams in order to raise some much needed funds. Here are the results.

I am quite happy with how we played during pre-season. I am particularly pleased with our memorable victory over Aston Villa. But at the end of the day I don't care that much about the friendlies as they are really just about match fitness.

Here is the full Port Vale squad and tactics we will be using going into the new season.

Who would you play in the team deano? Mainly up front?

probably ***** topp with rhys murphy up front, what role did you have ***** topp in last season?

He played deep lying forward! What about starting Taylor-Fletcher for now and then subbing Rhys in and out and then bring him in a month or so if he is doing well?

yeah definately whoever is playing better start them but try to get murphy involved when ever possible

I have signed a lot of released players from premier league clubs on free transfers! I got given a decent wage budget so it wasnt too bad!

Port Vale unveil three new kits for League One campaign

Port Vale have today unveiled three new kits for their new campaign to start in August. The return to white colours again is a great choice as it is much easier on the eye. That will be their home kit. Their away and third kit are based on yellow. The away kit is very nice based in bumble bee yallow and black hoops and the alternate strip is bright yellow but they will not be appearing in that strip very often.

What's goin' on there, are they this years kits or next years that have just come out really early ?

Anyway good luck doin well so far!

I asked Hunter to do me some new kits so I could introduce them for the new league one season

Do you like them?

There mint oaksey :P does he do a tutorial on how to make them or out ? :)

No mate he made them for me I dont have a clue lol

Port Vale pulled off their first win of the season in their first game against Bristol Rovers. Daniel Pacheco struck a great goal in the fifth minute and Vale managed to hold on for an away victory.

Topp scores only goal to seal shock win

Port Vale 1-0 Preston North End Carling Cup 1st Round
67-1.jpg

Vale Park proved to be a fortress for Port Vale as they went on to shock Championship side Preston North End.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher scored the only goal of the game today as Port Vale confirmed a shock victory over Preston in the Carling Cup tonight. The League One side played very well in this match and were able to put the Championship side to the sword on many occasions and Taylor-Fletcher found the breakthrough after 72 minutes and they managed to hang on to the win which would secure them a second round tie against newly promoted Premier League side West Bromwich Albion at Vale Park and Vale will be expected to gain a lot of gate receipts and if they perform like this they will have a genuine chance.

Port Vale seal a point in a thriller at Vale Park

Port Vale 2-2 Walsall

Port Vale continued their league campaign today with a draw at home to Walsall. Vale took the lead early and looked like they might get another win but then Walsall scored two in quick succession in the second half and Vale did well to get a goal and bring the game to a close at 2-2. It was a result for both teams.

Carlisle 1-3 Port Vale

Port Vale pulled off a very good win at Brunton Park today with goals from Gary Taylor-Fletcher, ***** Topp and Rhys Murphy. Carlisle managed to get a goal but it proved only a consolation as Vale went on to record a comfortable win.

Port Vale 2-0 Gillingham

Gary Taylor-Fletcher had a great game for Port Vale this afternoon grabbing a brace for his new team to help them go on to another win. The win today makes the Valiants five games unbeaten in all competitions an four games unbeaten in the league.
