Young Guns Dominate Devils!
With the first month of the 2009-10 Premier League season complete, the league sees Chelsea come out trumps and Tottenham narrowly behind after have a bright start to the season. Tottenham had a difficult opening to the month of September with a game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday 12th. This was sure to be a juicy encounter for the neutrals with the Red Devils bookies favourites for the match.
Manchester United 2 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur
Man Of the Match : Park Ji-Sung (Man Utd)
Match Report
A very tough game away from home for Hoddle's men which proved, however, to be a very stern test for the hosts. Tottenham saw the majority of the possession through-out the match and more chances than the home side also - but failed to put them away. A disastrous start for the visitors saw Park Ji-Sung slip in behind the defence, in the second minute, to latch onto a Giggs through ball and slot the ball past Gomes for the opener. The nerves of the big occasion then settled for Hoddle's players and they fought back level with a powering header from Peter Crouch, who towered above the United defence. Spurs then dominated the game but a lapse in concentration saw Rooney skip past the right-back and get a shot on Gomes' net unchallanged, scoring the decisive goal. Despite the away side dominating the rest of the match, they failed to convert and the points went to the home side. A very possitive performance however and will surely please the manager.

Tottenham Hotspur 3 - 0 West Brom
33' Peter Crouch
66' Wilson Palacios (Pen)
84' Ledley King
Wilson Palacios
Man Of the Match : Peter Crouch
Match Report
A brilliant team performance and a great bounce-back from heart-ache at Old Trafford. Peter Crouch continued his good form, showing good composure to slot the ball passed Carson when he found himself 1 vs 1 with the Albion keeper.
Crouchy delirious with opener
Crouch was then brought down inside the box, earning his side a valuable penalty kick - which was forcefully buried by play-maker Wilson Palacios to put the game out of reach for the visitors. Ledley King scored a header late on in the game to increase Spurs lead and all but win the 3-points for his team. A very confident showing from Hoddle's men which is sure to please the manager.

Wigan Athletic 0 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur
6' Danny Rose
Vedran Corluka
Man Of the Match : Wilson Palacios
Match Report
The final league game of the month saw Tottenham travel to the DW Stadium. A good win for Hoddle's men in a tough away which saw Wigan, despite at home, park the bus and take a very defensive approach to the game. Young scarlet Danny Rose scored a powerful 30-yard drive early on in the match which all but sealed the points for Tottenham with Wigan reluctant to attack.
Rose celebrates wonder-stike with his teammates.
A very boring game in truth. Controversy late on, however, when Wigan's key man Maynor Figueroa saw a second yellow and was dismissed from the field of play. A strong performance at the heart of midfield from Palacios saw him earn himself the Man of the Match award.
In a post-match interview, Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle spoke the Daily Record newspaper. In response to a question asked regarding the manner in which Wigan approached the match Hoddle had this to say,
"In truth i find the defence approach taken by Wigan to be flattering! If they feel we are such an offensive threat that they have to park the bus at their home ground, that can only be a possitive for us and give confidence to our attacking players; knowing that they are feared by even strong teams in the fortress of their home-grounds!" Glenn Hoddle

In a press conference prior to Tottenham Hotspur's 3nd round Carling Cup tie away to league leaders Manchester United, Glenn Hoddle vowed to stick by his guns and field his younsters, despite United lining-up a full stength team. Hoddle stated that it was a big ask for the youngster's, even more so following the first teams defeat to the 'Red Devils' 10 days ago, but he also said that he had full faith in the lads and wished them well ahead of their game.
Manchester United 2 - 3 Tottenham Hotspur
50' Alessandro Gamberini
87' Romelu Lukaku
90+2' Michael Ballack
Gareth Bale
Man Of the Match : Alessandro Gamberini
Match Report
WOW! Lost for words. Perhaps the come back of the century? Their was definately first-half nerves for the youngsters with the home side going in at the break two goals to the good, following stikes from Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney. An inspiring half time team talk saw Spurs come out a completely different side. The away team gave themselves a glimmer of hope with an early goal in the second half coming from the head of the only first team player to start in defence for Tottenham, Gamberini, as he met the ball from a curling corner whipped in from young wing-back Gareth Bale.
16-year-old Lukaku(the youngest player ever to play for Spurs, and to score for them for that matter) scored a late beauty, curled into the top left hand corner from the edge of the box. Tottenham then threw on some fresh, experienced faces, one of whom was United rival Michael Ballack, in an attempt to score a late winner. A gamble from the manager perhaps, but Hoddle didn't want to see the game go on any longer than necessary. A scramble in the United box in extra time saw substitute, Michael Ballack, poke in the ball from close range to win the match for the away team and confirm the teams advance into the next round.
After the match Tottenham manager Hoddle was over overwhelmed at the outcome of the match and lost for words. All he could say was,
"SUPERB!!!" Glenn Hoddle
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The begining of the month saw Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle finalise a few deals on deadline day.
Alphonse Areola :-
A promising young 16-year-old goalkeeper, signed from Paris Saint-Germain for a mere £875'000. This is thought to be a great piece of dealing by the manager with the amount of potential the young lad has. Areola, only 16, has already seen first team football at the club, participating Carling Cup matches - finding himself up against World superstars like Wayne Rooney and Berbatov.
Dodo :-
Another one for the future here with Dodo, 17-years-old, signing from Corinthians for £2'500'000. The player will join the club on the 1st of July 2010. This is thought to be a large price to pay for such a young player but Dodo is tipped to be one of the world's best in his prime.
Kyle Walker :-
Young defender Kyle Walker accepted an offer to go back to his previous clun Sheffield United on loan. Despite being newly signed for Spurs, manager Hoddle couldn't see Kyle getting much first team game time this season and thought he would benefit more from weekly appearances at Sheffield.
Roman Pavlyuchenko :-
Despite having a good pre-season Hoddle couldn't see Roman in his first team plans atalll this season with the likes of Defoe, Crouch and Soldado already upfront and so decided to loan out want-away striker Pavlyuchenko to Spanish outfit Valencia for a fee of £725'000 with the option to buy at any time for an undisclosed fee.
Ben Alnwick :-
Another player Hoddle couldn't see getting any game time and said that he couldn't even see the young keeper getting a game in the reserves and had therefore loaned the player out to Nottingham Forest for the season. Despite being a hot prospect for the club it is thought the young keeper could be heading out the door at the end of the season following the arrival of the very promising 16-year-old Areola.

* Spurs to play Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday 27rd October in the Carling Cup 4th round.
-> Tottenham's Gareth Bale comes second in September Young Player of the Month Award.
-> Club Player of the Month without-a-doubt goes to young attacking midfielder Danny Rose. The 19-year-old has secured his place in the starting line up and is one of Hoddle's first names on the team sheet each week. This young lad put in 100% every week at training and has very high, consistant performances every game! He has also scored a couple of very valuable goals for us, including the wonder-strike that saw us get all three points away to Wigan. What a month this young lad has had. Not far off his was in-form stiker Peter Crouch.
