Beckham unveils Mystery Signing

Ian Wright – The Sun:
Good morning David, thanks for coming to talk to us this morning.

David:
Its my pleasure Ian. I would also like to add that Glenn asked me to send his apologies on his behalf as his wife has gone into labour this early morning and he had to be there for her.

Ian:
Lets get straight to it then, Fernando Torres, WOW, can you tell us how this transfer came about?

Well, we've been tracking his progress this season following our recurring injury problems and he's had a great one scored more than a goal per game; a stat that no other stiker in the world can live up to at the moment. We felt he was a great goal-scorer - which he's proven time and time again - and made a large bid for him of around £45'000'000 thinking it would do the trick, however, Liverpool came back to demanding £90'000'000 which was way out of our range.
Following a Liverpool enquiry about young John Bostock we thought we'd have another slab at it, offering a deal worth £60'000'000 (plus £10'000'000 if he reaches a certain number of goals for the club) plus John Bostock in return as well. When Liverpool came back to us with the good news we were a little bit surprised but ecstatic at the thought of Torres coming to play for us.
Next came the problem of a contact and persuading Fernando to come to us and leave a club true to his heart. It was, though, unexpectedly easy as the player gave us his demands of around £140'000 per week plus bonuses and told us that if we couldmeet them he would join our club. After rejecting our first contract offer, due to a signing on fee not large enough to meet his demands, Fernando accepted our proposal and the transfer went rather smoothly from there on.

Terry Venables – Daily Star

Terry:
Hi David, good to see you back in England!

David: Thanks

Terry:
Anyway, more on topic, how do you feel Torres will fit into and suit the formation and tactic yourself and Glenn have adopted at Tottenham?

Well Terry, I believe Fernando will fit into the system perfectly. He will be used as a poacher and also as a complete forward, which will defiantly suit Tottenham and Fernando has no problems with his roles. We have discussed tactics with Torres and he is fine with them and is sure he can bag us many goals. There is no problems what so ever and Fernando will settle into the squad and with our tactics instantly. Fernando will be partnered with such players as Defoe, Soldado and Crouch, and with young Fernando lining up with any of those strikers it will guarantee a deadly partnership. We’ve discussed want we want from Fernando which is plain and simple, goals. Fernando said he will not fail to deliver the goods for us and will be looking to win the golden boot. All in all Fernando will have no troubles fitting in with the squad and everyone will defiantly welcome him in to the starting line up and he will defiantly boost the teams morale and keep the team in high spirits.

his question is for Fernando and is proberbly one that many Liverpool faithfuls want to know the answer to. Why did you leave Anfield?

Thank you for your question. I decided to leave Anfield because of a few reasons. I believe Liverpool were not reaching their full potential and in Europe we were awful where as Spurs are doing great in all competitions. They also seem to be playing amazing football which really interested me to decide to come to White Hart Lane.
I also feel Spurs are almost assured to be playing the champions league next year which is a feat that Liverpool cant promise. I felt with Liverpool doing so poorly over the past few seasons and were not reaching the top so I felt it was time to move on and when a team doing so well at the moment approaches me I surely can’t turn them down.I can only really see Spurs improving in the future, it was an opportunity I did not want to miss out on as I’m sure I would have regretted it in the future.

Last question Fernando, what do you think Tottenham will win this season and how many goals are you aiming to score?

I think Tottenham can win everything they are part of this season. We have a big talented squad mixed with youths and experience which will play a pivotal roll in our season. I do not think any team can stop us at the moment, not even the likes of Manchester United or even Chelsea. We are in great form and I’m sure we will carry that all the way to the end of the season and I’m sure we can bring some silverware to the Spurs faithful. For the second half of your question I am aiming to get around 25 as I got 22 in the first half of the season with a below average Liverpool side so with great players over here at Tottenham I’m sure there will be no troubles of taking our chances. I believe we will have no troubles in the goals department and I believe Spurs have the nerve to win the trophies. We were not favourites to win but I’m sure we can change that as we are starting to change many opinions.

Tottenham Press Officer:

Press Conference concluded.

Hey mate, great story so far, but 60M is a bit... steep. You could have signed someone like Aguero or Pato for a little lesser. Also, may I ask, is Redknapp really England's Manager or is it just a fabrication on your part?

yea a bit much maybe but he has such a good goal scoring record! and no lol hes still the spurs manager.

Ive not updated in a while as ive been dead busy but hopefully will update tomorrow.

I like it, update it with more results, please.
