Thank god Wenger doesn't like the English.

We'd be screwed if we started paying these prices for players like Henderson and Carroll.

"In the past five years LFC have a NET spend of £67.96m. They have dropped out of CL, won nothing & built no stadium. AFC net= £28.7m profit"

(@LadyArse)

Rather ironic that the press never seem to mention this. Hey-ho.

Ye we wont be letting Johno or Dann go for much less than 10 if not above, the board said they are standing strong on deals.

Ridgewell and Gardner wont be leaving Blues regardless of bids!

and i will personally drive Jerome to which ever club he wants to go, but once again i think we wont accept less than 6 for him.

if people want our players, apparently it will cost them!

Yeah I totally agree, the board need to keep the nucleus of our players. Foster, Dann Johnson, Ridgwell, Ferguson and Gards and Zigic. Im sure I read somwhere that Mcleish is holding out for £7mill for Jerome. Wether Stoke or Bolton come in for him is another matter.

In the last 5 years we have net spend of 11.75 Million, where we have won

4 league titles,
Champions league once
Runners up twice,
Charling cup twice,
Club World cup,
Community shield thrice.

Midlands.

WOLVES
Wolves are closing in on a deal for £4m-rated Reading centre-back Matt Mills.
Wolves have been linked with a move for Caen striker Youssef El Arabi. Stoke City are also said to be interested in the Moroccan international.
Wolves have had a bid of £6m for Birmingham’s Roger Johnson rejected.
BLUES
Birmingham’s Sebastian Larsson will snub Arsenal, Villa, Blackburn and Newcastle to sign for Sunderland.
Arsenal and Liverpool are both said to be interested in signing central defender Scott Dann.
Marlon King has apparently been offered a £15,000 a week deal at St Andrew’s.
VILLA
Randy Lerner has flown into town to begin the interview process for new managers. On the short list are said to be Steve McClaren Rafa Benitez and Mark Hughes. Ther’s also speculation that David Moyes is onhis list of potential successors to Gerard Houllier. We await the white smoke from Villa Park.
Once Kenny Dalglish has tied a up a deal for Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson he will turn his attention to Stewart Downing.
ALBION
Nothing new around today – just the recurring stories that Zoltan Gera and Tomasz Kusczak will be returning to The Hawthorns.

Only really putting 1=1 together as Allardyce and Nolan are close, and Nolan has rejected a contract at Newcastle. We have a reported 10 million to spend to rebuild:

Kevin Nolan and DJ Campbell set to become first signings by Sam Allardyce at West Ham United - Telegraph

can't go wrong with Kevin Nolan and DJ Campbell. Also strong rumours amongst west ham forums that Greeno is going to stay!

That's loyalty if it is true, Greeno for manager!

Really want Nolan, could be the perfect replacement for Scott.

According to Paul Thompson (Liverpool ITK), Phil Jones was at Melwood yesterday.

Well that was relevant to the point I'm making about the media never mentioning Liverpool's 5 year trophy drought..

Media talk about Arsenal trophy drought because they do expect Arsenal to win silverware more than Liverpool?

Probably because it's wrong. Net spend over past 5 financial years (excluding this summer's transfer window of June/July 2011) is £32m. [edit: actually £31m - my bad]

edit: just a further edit - the last financial year where we actually spent more than we recouped significantly (so far this year - same provisos about summer transfers not included - we've spent £200k more than we've taken in) was the season before we finished second in the league. If anything, it demonstrates what Arsenal fans must already know - if you don't spend and your rivals are continuing to improve then you end up winning sweet fa.

Where did you read Nolan has rejected a contract? (apart from that article) Last thing I heard about him was about him hoping to return to fitness for the start of the season, are you sure you're not getting confused with Barton.

Either way, I imagine it unlikely he would drop down a division as he is a pretty important player for a mid table prem side.

Phil Jones reps apparently at Melwood yesterday, obviously take with a pinch of salt until further confirmation.

And Wenger's approach has won you what exactly recently?...

? Didn't understand that..

My point is that since 2006, Arsenal have have reached a Champions League final, stayed financially stable (in fact we've made a profit nearly every year iirc) and stayed in the Top 4. That's obviously not a remarkable achievement, but compare that to Liverpool:

1 FA Cup, 1 CL Final... Then they've come close to bankruptcy and dropped out of the Top 4 while they don't look certain to get back in even next year. This is hardly mentioned by the press, though who prefer to talk about how Arsenal haven't won anything for 6 years and ignore the rest of the details compared to Liverpool. This isn't a dig at LFC at all - just a dig at lazy journalism.

I don't know where she got her figures from, but I think she's including the £20m (+ N'Gog) fee paid for Henderson this week (She posted it on twitter this morn)

I can give you a breakdown if you want Joss, but she's so, so wrong. Check my second edit for what Liverpool's figures actually do demonstrate.

Well that is the point isn't it? You're in financially strong position than united still u don't spend on quality players and don't win trophies!

It was on sky sports news about Nolan mate and I agree with you I dont see Nolan going to the championship if he leaves Newcastle. He is a player that is good enough to play premier league football and I am sure he knows that.

There may be two more medicals going on at Melwood today as well as Henderson's. Just saying. May.

Two more?! Care to PM me who? (K) Got a couple of ideas myself on who it could be.

Apparently Phil Jones won't be having a medical today, unless Liverpool manage to agree a fee during the day. He was at Melwood yesterday with his reps getting a tour. Henderson having his medical today and maybe Doni.

My point is, everyone expect Arsenal to win as they did very well under wenger for a decade. When all of a sudden you had a drought under the same manager it is common that Media picks that out.
