Just think how many bodies will never be recovered as waters start going back out it drags things out into the sea.
How's that factory place with the gas? If that gets released into the air then it'll be terrible.

An 8.9? Jesus. Was watching footage on BBC live in college and just saw a house completely float away, unbelievable.

Supposedly the biggest earthquake to ever hit Japan. They're the best prepared for earthquakes, but there is little you can do for one of this magnitude.

It is aye. Just 5 had more quakes between 5.1 and 5.5 off the coast of Honshu too

The real scary thing is the nuclear power plant that is going into meltdown and had a government warning placed on it.

The thing is... After the water gets back, they will find out alot of more dead bodys... :(

Holy **** just got up after a late night, this is crazy! How many countries are going to be hit?!?!!?

Japan has been, Hawai aswell... more in the USA... Seattle and California MIGHT get ... and Russia.

been thinking. This quake happened on the ring of fire area, so I wonder if this quake has caused a large enough break in the crust, to allow the formation of a new volcano. normally how it starts

pretty much the whole of the US west coast MAY experience a 0.5 meter wave. thats being suggested by experts

Hawaii may experience a bit of damage, but will be nothing near a major tsunami event

The US Tsunami Warning Centre says tsunami activity measured at Kahului Maui in Hawaii recorded a wave amplitude of 5.7 feet (1.74m). The figure refers to the height of the wave above the still water line

a dams burst aswell. can't get worse can it? jesus christ. At least the reactor situation is under control though. Good news.

The first waves from the tsunami have now reached the US mainland along the Northern California coast and Oregon. The Oregon coast is expected to be the worst affected, with surges of six to eight feet (around two metres) expected.

I was watching Sky News in my PE lesson at school in the gym on the bike and the pictures were horrid

Any news on the Nuclear Plant, how the water couldn't make it there to cool everything down?

They say it's "under control".

The Tokyo Electric Power Company has said the pressure inside the No. 1 reactor at its Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant has been rising, with the risk of a radiation leak, according to the Jiji Press news agency. Tepco planned to take measures to release the pressure, the report added. The reactor's cooling system began to malfunction after the earthquake. People living close to the plant were later evacuated as a precaution.

Nuclear physicist Dr Walt Patterson tells the BBC it sounds like there is a "serious problem" at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant. "It's the sort of thing that nuclear engineers have nightmares about," he says. "If it is not resolved in the next few hours it will get serious. If the core is uncovered, then those rods at the top may get hot enough to melt themselves."

I'm assuming the tremors disrupted the cooling system, and the plant didn't automatically shut off like the others did.
