Thought they managed to get water into the reactor?

last time i heard, the us had flown coolant there

Ah I see. Hope those fires don't get any worse mind-get any bigger and you have the potential for a firestorm. Wonder how US Armed Forces personnel are faring aswell, and how much damage was done to any bases

Japan are going to release some radioactive vapour to releive pressure of the nuclear reactor

Isn't that risky on the environment? Saying that, if it comes between that and letting the pressure build then having another Chernobyl, probably do the same thing aswell

Haven't heard from my friend directly, but rumours are he's OK.

So that's a relief, sort of. oO)

Yeah I think there going to try and tunnel it into the bay somehow, very risky, they haven't give any information on what the risks are as of yet.

Well hope it works for them.. Would've been a **** of a decision to make. But if it can save potentially thousands more lives (as a result of contamination), then its the best they can come up. Guessing it may have a chance of getting into drinking water. But i guess they wouldn't have made the decision lightly-must have weighed up nearly every potential outcome.

Death Toll 1000+ :'(

Have a bad feeling final toll will be a lot worse sadly.
I'm actually pretty disgusted that already there's facebook jokes and groups making fun of this. Talk about soul-less. I'd have thought that something like this would remind people how fragile life can be.

Some people are vile. Hopefully the death toll doesn't rise too much but I doubt that. Hope anyone with friends/family out there can contact them.

Seen the 6.30 ITV News

:O Scary the video's they were showing of the tsunami

6.6 magnitude earthquake just hit central Japan. Unclear if it connected to the earlier quake or not.

Thats not good. Some buildings will already by badly weakened from earlier. Don't think they could hold out much longer with the stress

One of my uni mates is Japanese, he has friends and family in Tokyo - I hope their ok :(

Anyway, hope all the Japanese forum members are ok, and condolences go to the families that have lost their loved ones :'(

Japan is going to be in ruins after all this, i really feel for the people who live there.

likely to be a couple more earthquakes. It's rare for a single one to happen.

and I'm sure the nuclear plant had this contingency planned out. It'll work out alright.
