I'm surprised I haven't actually got anything in the steam sale yet. Nothing is really standing out at all that I haven't got already. Have the annoying in between generation time when there is nothing good worth buying.

I know what you mean even tho I have bought about ten titles there's been nothing that I have thought I must have that, It's a lot of the same old same old.

oh apart from call of Juarez that was flash sale at 3 quid absolute steal

Just bought Maia to support the cause seems like my kind of game but **** me it's buggier than the magna mundi and east vs west leaks put together!!!!

All you ************* need to go and buy Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons PROVIDED you have a controller.

It's legit one of the best games in the past decade.

I've just gone and bought Europa Universalis Rome Gold-can't go wrong for £1.99 and it's down my alley. Anything to do with maintaining and spreading a Roman Empire gets my attention-and it's EU so it's bound to be an absolute steal.

However, my bank account is getting a bit nervy. Crusader Kings entire collection is £14 (instead of £70-and includes ALL the DLC which is just fantastic value) and I've also noticed Rome 2 and EU 4 are both on sale. I'm in a major dilemma. I want my world domination games dammit.

Dam you Steam. You've done it to me again :'(

Rome 2 is complete bollocks. Unless something changed with patches. But I've lost my faith in Creative Assembly long ago (around Empire:TW that is). Too much bling bling and not enough design work and proper Q&A.

Yes my son, go get Crusader kings II. It's amazing. EU I literally just picked up because CKII is so good. Crazy complex but so good.

It's playable now. Still the worst TW game ever, but it's at least playable.

Yeah first Total War is just absolutely fantastic. The graphics may be a wee bit dated, but the gameplay is just brilliant. I keep meaning to have only a couple of battles, but before I know it the sun is coming up.

Easy to get to grips with, epic battles and the soundtrack is just fantastic. Best soundtrack I've heard for a game imo

Definitely. TW used to be great games , now its all just graphics, shitload of bugs, and half-assed new features that are added just to have something to brag about to reviewers.

Problem is, I'm a total sucker for the series. I own every game and every expansion for it, so they're going to get my money regardless, it's just a **** shame. When it came out and I got it and relayed it to Mike. that it wasn't very good, he wouldn't believe that I was slating it at first. :P

I have faith they'll bounce back eventually. Shogun II was a very very good game, one of the best in the series (probably third behind Rome I and Medieval II, and arguably above Medieval II given it had no battle-breaking bugs like the polearms bug in Medieval II) so they can still put out a great game, I think they just need to be pressured less. Back in the old days they put out the game when it was ready, but since it became a popular money-spinning series SEGA have been giving them deadlines to meet. It has resulted in a buggy mess. A real pity.

****. I skipped on both Shoguns since I like to have some familiarity with historical background, and all I know about medieval Japan is where to find it on the map.

All you need to know is basically there was a big fuckoff war in Japan between a crapload of Daimyos (lords, essentially). Shogun II is great, if it pops up on sale it's definitely worth it.

Also worth mentioning that for CK II there's a Game of Thrones mod. I'm officially sold-I'm yet to come across any negative reviews for this

The game of thrones mod is quite possibly one of the best mods I've ever played or that's ever been made IMO! I have more hours in the mod than I do ck2. Did you get the collection one and does that have the legacy of Rome dlc? I only ask because you will be at a big disadvantage in vanilla if you don't own it.

Did some scouting and the DLC pack is actually missing some main DLC-it's primarily cosmetic with a few other DLC's in it (think I saw LOR in there). So I've got the base game, and I'm going to get the GoT mod and shall see if The Old Gods comes down in price (must have DLC as it gives another few hundred years worth of gameplay). But from what I've read the base game is just as good without all the DLC as some of it's pants. But I defo want The Old Gods

The old gods is class nothing better then being a Norse! LOR is mainly event based dlc for the Italian States and the Byzantines but allows you to purchase levies which is a game changer. If you can afford the sons of Abraham I would defo recommend it just for one mega event chain which without the spoiling to much is something akin to the omen!

I've just been browsing various Youtube videos, and this game is basically a story generator game. The sheer level of detail in this, and the plots I saw is just staggering. I am so looking forward to getting into this proper.

Goodbye outside world.

Again.

TOG is great, I'd also recommend the one for the Byzantines (can't remember the name) because it gives you retinues. The Merchant Republics one is good fun too.

You have no idea.

No, really, no idea. No game comes CLOSE to the storybuilding Paradox 4Xs do. I've spent hours trying to get people to listen to my crazy stories from my game, it's great fun.

Legacy of Rome gives you retinues, what is your favourite story GC in a nutshell I think my favourite one was when I created Norway converted Scandinavia from Norse to catholic, crusade was called against Iberia get all of Spain because I was biggest contributor switch back to Norse create Norse Spain then proceed to eat Europe and have a mega war against the Byzantines. Killing many children to inherit many thrones along the way!

it will consume you I've sinked 200 hours or so into it but EU4 is the one that steals all my time those two games are the reason I only have 150 in fm this year

Ah, I had a chance to get CK2 for something around 10$ month ago. ****, it looks so good now, both Vikings and GoT mod :(

Anyway, Im finding myself again in EU4, with some multiplayer games. Too bad is laggy sometimes.
