Just caught up after the weekend. Great season mate, if you can even get CL football next season that would be considered an amazing season!

Cheers mate! I certainly wont be complaining if its only CL qualification!! I came into this season thinking I would struggle to finish above mid table!

Great story, you update so often and consistently you get through seasons really quick! Hope you can hang on in the last ten games and at least get in the top 2/3, it would be a great achievement.

Cheers mate - I'm right into this story so I've been a bit more prolific with it than usual. Typically I try to get a month in and do up the update every night.

I know that feeling when you get right into a save :)

Season 7 - March Roundup

Season 7 Game 27 – BMG (a)

Monchengladbach was up next, they probably weren’t happy sitting in the lower half of the table but we couldn’t concern ourselves with the fate of others. It ended up being a really up and down game for us here. We took the lead when Boga put us up in the 22nd minute. From there Konate, who gave us issues with his aerial prowess all game scored with a header to even things up at the half.

After the restart Hermann scored one against the run of play. I wasn’t happy and I let the guys know it. This signalled a turnaround in our fortunes as first Garcia equalised with a tidy finish before Gedoz slid one home to give us the lead. Just when it seemed like we were going to take all three points an amazing sequence of events allowed BMG to steal a point. In the 89th minute we were awarded a free kick just outside the area for an offside. Felipe then, when taking the ensuing kick, scuffed his effort and it fell to Konate just on our side of halfway. He took one touch to steady himself before shooting from inside the centre circle over Felipe’s head. I was cross that Felipe had stuffed up but really it was a wonderful effort from Konate.

Season 7 Game 28 - Hoffenheim (h)

The BGM result coupled with Bayern’s win meant we were tied on points at the top of the table with them but their far superior goal difference could be critical in the run in and as such we were desperate to pick up all 3 as Hoffenheim came to visit. Thankfully we did just that – we had to come from behind again however – something that I would rather not to have to do.

Iheanacho got us underway here after only 2 minute before Hoffenheim used their pace to exploit us on the counter attack. Iheanacho though returned the favour equalising for us on the break just before half time. Today was Anthony Jung’s 100 match for Eintracht so I was really pleased to see him score the winning 2 goals from left back – both times he was actually a little further forward than I would have liked but today who cares!!

Following this one though we got some bad news that our first choice keeper Marcos Felipe, would be out for almost a month due to a back strain. In the meantime I will use academy product Filippp Luce, the best thing I can say about this injury is at least it happened when for 2 weeks we will be on an international break so he won’t miss too much time.

Season 7 Game 29 – Freiburg (a)

Our last game in March saw us travel to Freiburg. Given my ‘keeper concerns I asked the guys to temper how adventurously they played this one in favour of being more solid at the back. It resulted in more possession and shots in total for Frieburg than we usually allow but not real nice chances and Luce handles the shots, mainly from distance, with ease.

View attachment 254430

Boga had a bit part in todays game setting up both goals but the man of the match was the second goal scorer Andreas Brendel. He is a 19yr old Frankfurt academy product who has the potential to go all the way. Up till now I have favoured a Kinsombi/Puncec central defensive combination but with both of them really being rotation quality players at this level I am thinking that young Brendel need to be promoted to first choice and get the game time to improve.

View attachment 254429

The game represented our 6th win in a row. We have lost one game since the Bayern drubbing (Koln away) yet still Bayern are top. It goes to show how, in Germany, you need to win almost every single game if you want to beat Bayern.

International Roundup

After the Frieburg game was the aforementioned International break. I was delighted to see Jeremie Boga get his first French cap. I really feel he has come a long way as a player this season and that’s something that I’ve never really been able to say in my career as yet – that I’ve been good at developing players. But with Sauter and now Boga kicking on I feel as though I am adding that string to my bow. He also managed to get on the scoresheet in his first French appearance so it was extra special.

Table Roundup

So that’s the situation. 7 games to go and we are even on points with Bayern. The big one is that we are 16 points clear of Stuttgart in 4th so we are almost certain of a top 3 finish and Champions League football next season. That’s huge because as this season has worn on, despite me keeping the wage bill to 100k a week under budget (and actually lower than when I first took over Frankfurt were in 2. Bundesliga!), we are still facing some financial hardship right at this second, although the expectation is that once the prize money rolls in we will be just fine.

Run In Roundup

That’s what we face on the way home. We really need 6 points from the Hannover and St Pauli games as after that it becomes a bit of a Murderers Row of games. All of Leverkusen, Dortmund, Bayern and Wolfsburg were very difficult the first time round. It’s going to be a huge two months for the future of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Mate, I had not heard a lot about Jeremie Boga before this save but I will be checking him out, that's for sure!

He's quality mate. I actually went down to the Sydney FC/Chelsea friendly not long ago and thought we has one of the best players on the night. Chelsea seems to have big wraps on him IRL and in most FM games I've played through he ends up in the Chelsea first team squad so I was very surprised when he was available on a free.

That goal difference! What's the difference in what you and Bayern spend on wages? Love Boga too, talented.

That game v Bayern could be a decider, don't lose 7-1 this time!

Dortmund to win the title from here ;) (H)

They'd want to get a wriggle on then!!

I'll try not to lose so bad this time!!! Not sure how to see what they are spending per week but here is the per annum figures for all Budesliga sides this season.

Season 7 April Roundup

View attachment 254317

Season 7 Game 30 – Hannover (h)

Not good. This one was really disappointing, being up so early and then throwing it all away isn’t good enough. As much as I hate to say it also we really missed Filipe out there tonight. Both goals should have been saved, particularly the second. This makes it very hard now to win the title.

View attachment 254317

Season 7 Game 31 – St Pauli (a)

This was much better. Boga was the man of the moment again with two goals whilst Sauter and Gedoz got the others. It was all over at half time and we took the opportunity to blood some of the younger guys who will, hopefully, be first team players next season.

View attachment 254315

This was the game that secured us Champions League football next season. Very, very chuffed about that.

View attachment 254314

Also Boga set a new team record for Man of the Matches with today’s award. He’d been a revelation.

View attachment 254317

Season 7 Game 32 – Leverkusen (h)

Huge, huge win today. We were the better side but Leverkusen have so much quality that they threatened for the entire 90 minutes. It’s broken record time again but Boga was the hero with the moment of quality when we needed it most.

Table Roundup

We’re still in this – just. A Bayern slip up is looking less and less likely so we will need to beat them when we meet and win every single other match. Is it probable? No, not really. But we will do our best regardless.

Season 7 May Roundup

View attachment 254296

Season 7 Game 33 – Dortmund (a)

The first of our two huge back to back games. The Westfalenstadion was packed and a cauldron of noise. One team rose and one team fell. Unfortunately we were the team who fell. We had the same possession, the same chances and the same amount of good chances. We just couldn’t et the job done. When it comes to comparing our Frankfurt side against the Bayern’s and Dortmund’s of the world it seems we just don’t know how to win a title yet…

View attachment 254295

We got terrible news after the match when we found out that Ross Barkley had broken his leg and would be sidelined for 6 months!! I was furious that the ref hadn’t taken during the match and now even moreso!!

View attachment 254294

View attachment 254296

Season 7 Game 34 – Bayern (h)

And so ends our challenge. For this season at least anyway. We matched them stride for stride until the 90th minute when, somehow, Marcos Felipe, in attempting to dive down on a cross that had been cut back from the byline, managed to divert it into his own net. Seriously if he wasn’t bawling like a schoolgirl in the sheds afterwards I would have asked someone to look into his bank accounts to see if any match fixing was involved…

Anyway, credit Bayern. They remain a class above. I took the high road and shook Simeone’s hand after the match without saying anything. But I don’t forget.

Season 7 Game 35 – Wolfsburg (a)

Brendel had enjoyed a run in the first team recently as I wanted to see if he had what it took to be first choice next season. Today he proved that his temperament is probably a couple of years off being where it needs to be. We’d been the better side up until his red card. Even being down to 10 we fought back twice from a goal down to equalise but Wolfsburg eventually got the better of us.

View attachment 254296

Season 7 Game 36 – Dusseldorf (h)

This was effectively a dead rubber as Dortmund had overtaken us into 2nd and were unlikely to lose their last game so we played a bunch of youngsters to get them some experience. They did well and a few of them are really snapping at the heels of the established first teamers.

View attachment 254290

We did use Boga in this match and his man of the match award meant that he also broke the Bundesliga record for most man of the match awards.

View attachment 254289

Table Roundup

So that’s how it ends. We were thereabouts until the Dortmund and Bayern games but those two proved we just aren’t quite there yet. Still, 3rd place in the first season after promotion is a fantastic achievement. We now have the Champions League to look forward to and the financial rewards that come with that.

View attachment 254288

We also received our highest ever amount of prizemoney for our finish.

Season 7 Postseason Roundup

Interviews Roundup

Following the season I was offered interviews at Hamburg, Hoffenheim and Bremen. I declined them all and couldn’t figure out why they were offering them to me until I saw the reputation ranking for the league. It looks like we still have a ways to go to shift public perceptions of us.

Awards Roundup

Jeremie Boga was pipped to the post for the Bundesliga Footballer of the year. I was really chuffed to take out the Manager of the Year and Players Manager of the Year awards. Boga, Gedoz and Barkley all were selected in the Team and Players Team of the Year. Boga rightfully took out the Fans player of the year award at the Frankfurt awards night.

Performance Roundup

It was review time and the Board is finally happy with me. They went so far as to call me ‘Borderline Untouchable’. I think a lot had to do with the fact that we made a really good profit this season!

Unlucky run in against some great teams in the last few matches. Congrats on the 3rd place finish though, very good achievement! A move to Bremen would have been good but its nice to see you stay put!

Thanks mate - I had a look over their squad and compared their situation for Frankfurt's and it didn't seem any better at all so that is why I stayed put. To be honest it will almost take a Bayern/Dortmund level club to come in to get me to to shift at this point.

Great stuff, title challenge definitely on the cards next season!

Cheers bud - was a little disappointed to falter at the end like that. The injuries to Felipe and Barkley did me in as I don't have the depth yet. A few shrewd purchases though and yes, we should be right back up there next season.

Just want to say sorry that I've not commented on this yet, I've never actually clicked on it! It's amazing though mate!

Unlucky, was always going to be tough and you should never EVER have gotten close to them anyway! Interviews with big clubs are gonna be coming thick and fast!

No need to apologise mate - there's so many good stories on here at the moment I am finding near impossible to keep up with all of them!!

It's going to take a huge club to budge me in the short term. Really looking forward to Rhys' first ever Champions League games!! Having said that I played through a bit of the preseason and I have some bad (and good!) news!!
