It was a tough battle but Columbus Crew won the war by winning the Trillium Cup title. The game was intense with goals, comebacks, fouls and red cards. We need to win by 3 goals to clinch the title but it wasn't enough to win.

Justin Meram gave Columbus Crew the lead with a cleanly struck effort from close to goal. Tony Tchani made it 2-0 after a close range effort that was timed impeccably. Jonathan Osorio cut the lead to one after a good header from inside the six yard box. Osorio got his 2nd goal two minutes later after a deftly executed finish. Jozy Altidore made the comeback for Toronto after a deflected shot. But Kristinn Steindorsson saved Columbus by tying the game with a close range effort. Gaston Sauro was ejected with a straight red card after a unprofessional misconduct.

Toronto FC will go to Montreal to face their rival in the 401 derby for the last game of the season.

I feel like that this team has clicked together at the perfect time in the last couple of games. We had a great game in Chicago to a club that we struggle during the regular season.

Jozy Altidore scored the first goal of the game after a close range effort that was impeccably timed. Jackson made it 2-0 after an accurate finish. Jeff Larentowicz got a straight red card after elbowing Jonathan Osorio in the face and will miss the next game in Toronto. Damien Perquis made it 3-0 when took advantage of Eric Gehrig's error to score from close range. David Accam scored a consolation goal after a long rage effort from 15 metres.

Toronto will host Chicago Fire for the 2nd game of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The fairy tale for Toronto FC continues as they beat all the odds and are heading to the MLS Cup finals after defeating the Chicago Fire 4-1 on aggregate. But it cost Toronto big time.

Michael Bradley has been ejected from the game after straight red card for the two leg tackle and Sebastian Giovinco was forced out of the game with a groin injury.

View attachment 198628

"I'm happy that we made it to our first MLS Cup finals" said De Rosario "But unfortunately we will have to go to the finals with two important players that helped us go there. But we need to continue playing hard and hope for the best."

Toronto FC in their 9 year history has never appeared in the playoffs but after a great form in the last 3 months where they lost twice in 13 games, they are going to the MLS Cup as the heavy underdogs of the competition. TFC will either face Houston Dynamos or FC Dallas.

Sebastian Giovinco scored the only goal of the game with an incisive finish from 14 metres. Toronto FC captain Michael Bradley was ejected from the game after a vicious two legged tackle on Nyarko.

The run continues but it will now be a difficult final game for Toronto FC.

Toronto FC magical run to the MLS Cup comes to an end. They were defeated by the Houston Dynamos 4-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium. Erick Torres won the MLS Cup MVP after scoring two goals.

"It disappointing how we lost" said Dwayne De Rosario "But I cannot be angry with my player as went further than what the media predicted them. I promise that next year that we will be back and win it all."

Toronto FC was in a hole before the game started with the suspension of their captain Michael Bradley and the injury to Sebastian Giovinco.

Houston Dynamos with the help of Erick Torres, won their 3rd MLS Cup in club history. The other two win was in 2006 and 2007 where they won back to back against New England Revolution in both finals. For Toronto FC, this lost will sting of a bit after their fairy tale journey to the MLS Cup.
