FOUR OUT AS HAWKINS PLANS MOVES

View attachment 128299
Four players have left Wrexham in order to free up funds to make some moves as the transfer window starts to draw to a close

Kevin Pallen, Jake Humphries, Cory Greenwood and Alan Lyons have all left the club for a combined fee of £42,000

Kevin Pallen was the first to leave, joining Port Vale for a fee of £30,000

26 year old left back Pallen had found his chances limited this season due to the highly successful 3-5-2 system deployed by the Robins, with the left back making just 8 appearances this campaign

Second to leave was Jake Humphries, who was released by the club. Attacking midfielder Humphries was another victim of the system as he made just 4 league appearances before being cut loose by the Robins, he has since joined Yeovil Town

Third out of the door was centre-back Cory Greenwood. Greenwood had been touted as a possible future star at Wrexham, having made 18 league appearances after joining from Hull on a free transfer

Unfortunately the 24 year old never met his potential and has been sold to Telford for £5,000

Last to leave was left winger Alan Lyons, who has found his chances limited this season due to the signings of Matthew Westwood and Gary Thorne. Lyons has 46 league appearances for Wrexham since joining 3 seasons ago.

He has joined AFC Wimbledon for £7,000

ROBINS ADD TWO
View attachment 128295
Wrexham manager Matthew Hawkins has finally opened his chequebook as he brings in two players to bolster his squad

Wrexham manager Hawkins had earned the nickname "Wenger" with some Wrexham fans this season as he has brought in over £290,000 from selling players but hadn't spent that much in the transfer market

The first signing announced was that of 18 year old centre back Jamie Walsh from Cardiff for £22,000

Walsh had spent his entire career at Cardiff before joining Wrexham, with Hawkins seeing him as an understudy and eventual successor to Adam Curry as the left-sided defender in the Wrexham back three
View attachment 128285

The second signing announced was the signing of winger Josh Munday from Scunthorpe United for £26,000

25 year old Munday has had a stop start career since leaving Portsmouth for MK Dons in 2019, appearing just 17 times for the MK Dons first team six seasons, whilst making a combined 42 appearances for Northampton and York in the Conference National

He had only made 5 appearances for Scunthorpe this season before being placed on the transfer list

WREXHAM SIGN FOUR ON DEADLINE DAY

View attachment 128181
Sky Bet League 2 side Wrexham have kept their fax machines very busy today, having brought in 4 players today

The first signing that was announced was the signing of 19 year old right winger Taylor Gregory, who joined from League 1 side Mansfield Town for £12,000

American winger Gregory joined Mansfield for free from American side Bellingham United 2 years ago but only made 1 appearance for The Stags during his time there
View attachment 128180

The second signing announced was the signing of centre-back Gordon Moore from Plymouth Argyle for a fee of £4,000

21 year old Northern Irish defender Moore, who can also play as a sweeper, spent his entire career at Plymouth, making 5 league appearances over 5 seasons at Home Park
View attachment 128179

The third player brought in was Adrian Younghusband, who's joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal

18 year old Younghusband, who can play in both central midfield and further back, has joined to offer backup to Adam Crookes
View attachment 128178

The last player brought in was central midfielder Emyr Huws, who's joined Wrexham on a free transfer

34 year old Huws had been available on a free for 6 months after his Chesterfield contract expired. The 47 time Wales international will add some much needed experience to the Wrexham midfield

An FA Cup Third Round match away to Villa. Fun times.

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Forest Green Rovers 0-0 Wrexham

View attachment 128150
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milnes, Smith, Crookes, Westwood (Lyons 55), Roberts (Kelly 55), Giles

A pretty poor match to kick off 2028 as we draw 0-0 away to Forest Green, we need to do better than this

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Wrexham 2-2 Peterborough United

View attachment 128149
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith (Thorne 57), Crookes (James 84), Westwood, Roberts, Giles (Kelly 66)

A very good fightback as we were 2-0 down with just over 30 minutes to go, but we shouldn't have had to fight back as we dominated them but allowed them to score 2 silly goals

FA CUP THIRD ROUND
Aston Villa 0-0 Wrexham

View attachment 128148
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith, Crookes, Westwood (Thorne 74), Roberts (Kelly 59), Giles

A day out in Birmingham turned into a night out in Birmingham as we held Aston Villa to a 0-0 draw! An excellent defensive display allowed us to stifle Villa and we had a few chances to nick it ourselves. Roll on the replay!

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Wrexham 1-1 Yeovil Town

View attachment 128147
Kemp, Halpin, Brougham, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith, Berks, Westwood, Roberts, Giles

Four games, four draws this month, that just isn't good enough! We had the chances today but didn't finish them. Hence the 1-1 draw

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Sunderland 4-1 Wrexham

View attachment 128145
Kemo, Halpin, Brougham, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith (Thorne 67), Berks (Knott 67), Westwood (Hunt 67), Roberts, Giles

This result should have been the other way round. We had so many chances but missed them all, while Sunderland just went up the other end and scored screamers from long range. Frustrating.

FA CUP THIRD ROUND REPLAY
Wrexham 1-1 Aston Villa

Wrexham win 4-3 on penalties

View attachment 128146
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milns (Smith 105), Thorne, Crookes, Westwood (Hunt 71), Roberts (Kelly 90), Giles

Mark Giles has cemented his place in Wrexham folklore, scoring a late equaliser against Aston Villa at the tender age of just 17 before oing on to score the first goal in the shootout and setting us up for a memorable FA Cup victory

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Wrexham 3-1 Oxford United

View attachment 128144
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith (Thorne 65), Crookes, Munday (Westwood 65), Roberts, Giles

A brilliant attacking performance gave us a solid 3-1 victory at home to Oxford as we start to revers our poor form. Mark Giles was excellent today, with 2 goals and 1 assist.

Sometime we have these games where everything just, clicks. Today was one of those games. We made Leyton Orient look like amateurs and abosultely battered the, smashing in 4 goals in the process

FA CUP FOURTH ROUND
Wrexham 1-2 Nottingham Forest

View attachment 128142
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry (Brougham 66), Peters, Milns, Smith (Thorne 71), Crookes, Westwood, Roberts, Giles

We played magnificently and were unlucky to lose today, we probably deserved at least a draw but Forest's quality shone through, with England international Nicky Reed scoring the winner

Wrexham 0-1 AFC Wimbledon

View attachment 128126
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith (Huws 59), Crookes, Westwood, Roberts (Kelly 60), Giles

A few of the players signed in the summer window were second choices. Today's opposition are the reason that happened. The Wombles spent big in the summer and have been the only side keeping pace with Sunderland at the top of the league.

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Blackpool 2-2 Wrexham

View attachment 128125
Kemp, Berks, Halpin (Moore 65), Curry, Peters, Milns, Smith, Crookes, Westwood, Roberts (Coveney 65), Giles

At last a point! Unfortunately we had to come from behind twice to even get a point against Blackpool. At least we showed character I guess

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Wrexham 3-1 Gillingham

View attachment 128124
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Peters, Thorne, Smith, Crookes, Munday, Roberts, Giles (Kelly 56)

Back to winning ways? I certainly hope so! We played Gillingham off the park and went 3-0 up, with their goal only being a late consolation

Billy Coveney finally showed why it was such a battle to get him this summer with two brilliantly taken goals to both equalise and take the lead as we comprehensively beat Dagenham away from home. Happy days!

Peterborough United 1-2 Wrexham

View attachment 127955

Wrexham 1-0 Eastleigh

View attachment 127954
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Gregory, Thorne, Smith (Younghusband 81), Crookes, Munday (Westwood 61), Coveney, Giles

SKY BET LEAGUE 2
Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Wrexham

View attachment 127948
Kemp, Berks, Halpin, Curry, Gregory, Thorne (Milns 71), Smith, Crookes, Munday, Coveney, Giles

This was a poor game which didn't really get going until the last 10 minutes, when both teams decided to actually go for it, with Bill Coveney bagging what seemed like the winner until Crewe equalised. Could that Coveney goal be very important though?

ROBINS RAID NEWPORT

View attachment 127647View attachment 127646View attachment 127647

Recently promoted Wrexham have shown their long-term vision as they splash £45,000 on three players from fellow Welsh side Newport County

The Robins, who are now tied for the honour of being the second highest Welsh club following Swansea's relegation to League 1, have returned from Newport with their brightest prospects. So, who are they?

The most expensive of the trio was Matthew Brown, who cost £16,000 and can play anywhere on the right hand side of the pitch.

Primarily a defensive player, the youngster can play at right back, right midfield, right wing and, crucially, right wing-back, a position Wrexham are thought to be looking to experiment with this season
View attachment 127645

The second most expensive signing was that of Kris Parry, a striker who is natural as both an Advanced Forward and Target Man, two roles Robins utilise in their 3-5-2 formation

17 year old Parry has plenty to live up to, with all 4 first team strikers signed by Hawkins bagging at least 10 goals last season
View attachment 127644

The least expensive signing was that of Blake Harling, who joined from the Exiles for a fee of £14,000

Harling, a goalkeeper, will do battle with local lad Dylan Maxwell as the Robins' "Keeper of Tomorrow"

Wrexham have today announced the loan signings of three players, of which two were at Wrexham last season

The first signing announced was that of striker Mark Giles, who's rejoined the Robins following a successful season last season, scoring 14 league goals and 16 in all competitions

The Wales Under-21 striker, who's scored 1 goal in 7 Under-21 appearances, became Wrexham's youngest ever goalscorer with his goal against Cheltenham Town last season, scoring at the age of just 17 years and 149 days old

Wrexham have spent a total of £380,000 on three players as Hawkins finally spends money on his squad

The first and most expensive signing was that of midfielder David Walker from York City for a fee of £190,000

Walker, 23, joined York last season following the expiration of his contract at Fulham and impressed at the Conference club, scoring 11 goals and bagging 12 assists in 39 league appearances for the Minstermen. He also won 7 Man of the Match awards and the York City Supporters' Player of the Season Award

Walker describes himself as a "box-to-box midfielder", a role that was filled poorly last season as Wrexham lacked a specialist

The second signing announced was that of goalkeeper Karl Hodges, who's joined the club from Aberdeen for £140,000

23 year old Hodges has had an up-and-down career, making 3 Premier League appearances with boyhood club Bournemouth and keeping two clean sheets before being loaned out to League 1 clubs QPR and Mansfield before being released and joining Aberdeen

Wrexham have been lacking a goalkeeper since the expiration of Alfie Kemp's loan contract and, with Maxwell and Harling being too young and Marshall Hunt obviously being judged as not good enough, Wrexham had to act

The final signing announced was that of centre back Brendan Lynch, who's joined the club from Cambridge United for £50,000

The Northern Irishman, who has been capped at Under-21 level, has had a varied career since leaving League of Ireland club Derry City, impressing at League 1 Colchester before taking a step down and joining Cambridge last season

He's made 169 league appearances throughout his career and is hoping to add to that with Wrexham
