Balanta Given Leave Of Absence

View attachment 362723

Its a big worry that Balanta has failed to settle in Germany, Im hoping he comes back in a better mood if not he will have to be let go of in the summer.

Champions League 1st Knockout rnd

1st Leg V Galatasary - Away

View attachment 362722

An impressive win away from home with Arnold and especially De Bruyne in fine form with RB Trasch getting a late rare goal to seal the win and all but cement our place in the next round.

February Fixtures

View attachment 362721

So we start the month with impressive wins over Freiburg and Furth with Dzeko getting his first goals for the club since his recent return.
Maybe the Hannover game was what made Balanta want to go home after he scored the opener before scoring an own goal and then fluffing a clearance to see us lose the match.
We then turned our fortune back around with not only the win in the Champions League but two good wins in the league with Dzeko getting a hattrick against HSV and scoring agains Leverkusen in the 3-1 win were Rode was on fire.

League Table

View attachment 362720

12 points behind Bayern with a game in hand but the league is all but lost but Schalke have fallen away in recent weeks now 4 points behind us in 3rd place.

Player Stats

View attachment 362719

Its still Lewandowski dominating with Luis Gustavo joint top of the most yellow cards chart and Perisic in the top 5 for assists still.

Player of the Month - Edin Dzeko

Thanks mate, couldnt believe getting Balanta on the cheap, youth intake had a couple of decent players will post up next

Good work so far mate :). Mayer looks like a quality signing.
The title looks unlikely this year, but I'm pretty sure you will get 2nd.

Meyer has been quality so far, i think its going to take a while to challenge Bayern but i will be happy with second this year, Want to get far in Europe and hope to win the German Cup in the next few years to get some silverware. thanks for reading

youth squad is looking good now, lots of potential! Shame that this intake wasn't as good as the last. Got any youth players on your radar that you might bring in?

I dont really like buying loads of youth intake players because you end up with so many that they never reach their potential but players im interested in under sort of 21 are Goretzka, Kempf, Tah, Stark, Matthias Ginter, Rani Khedira and Bittencourt, theres so many decent young Germans but it seems the clubs want big money for them.

How about Avdijaj?

Some quality signings and nice results against galatasary.

Champions League 1st Knockout rnd

2nd leg v Galatasaray - Home

View attachment 362629

2-2 draw at home after we completely capitulate in the late stages of the game. We were 2-0 up on the night and 5-1 up on aggregate before we had 2 players sent off late on and Drogba smashed in 2 quick goals but it wasnt enough and we make the Quarter Finals.

Champions League Quarter Finals Draw

View attachment 362628

So we get drawn against Bayern Munich in a big all German tie! I just cant see us beating them over two legs, im gutted we got drawn against them as i feel we could have given a few of the other teams left a good game.

March Fixtures

View attachment 362627

So we got Bayern in the Champions League after facing them twice this month, we managed to beat them in the German Cup setting up a Semi Final against Hertha before losing to them at the end of the month in the league.
In between all of the tough matches we did manage to destroy Augsburg and Dusseldorf smashing 5 goals past both of them.

League Table

View attachment 362626

So Bayern are all but Champions again whilst were on the same points as Schalke but do have a game in hand with only a handful of games left this season whilst Dortmund are well out of it down in 4th.

Player Stats

View attachment 362625

De Bruyne shoots up the assists chart this month after starring in a couple of the big wins in the league with Perisic in 3rd.

Champions League Quarter Finals

1st Leg V Bayern - Home

View attachment 362610

Right so Dzeko is cup tied for the Champions League and it hurt us big time with Batshuayi not in good form at the moment, We actually had the better chances and possession but Bayern just had the better finishers with Robben and Lewandowski getting the all important away goals.

2nd Leg V Bayern - Away

View attachment 362609

Batshuayi had another poor game but we did take the lead thanks to a Perisic wonder goal just before half time but we couldnt hold onto it as Bayern come back with goals from Robben and Thiago seeing us crash out of the Champions League.

Balanta Out For 4 Months

View attachment 362607

So only a few games after returning from his leave of absence after Homesickness his season is ended with a bad 4 month injury.

April Fixtures

View attachment 362606

So along with the losses to Bayern in the Champions League we won 4 league games out of 5 drawing against bogey team Mainz and beating close rivals in the league Schalke thanks to a Dzeko brace. We also dispatched of Hertha Berlin comfortably to seal a big German Cup Final against Hoffenheim, a team we just beat in the league thanks to an early Dzeko goal.

League Table

View attachment 362605

10 points behind Bayern with 2 games to go but we have all but secured an impressive 2nd place after the win against Schalke as were 6 points clear.

Player Stats

View attachment 362604

De Bruyne is hanging on in there but none of our players have really shone this season in the league but it does show we must have a good team workrate to come second still. In the 3 full months Dzeko has been here he is already up to 6th in the goalscoring charts in the league on 13 goals already.

End Of League Season Fixtures

View attachment 362600

So we managed to comfortably beat Weder Bremen before going 2-0 up against Stuttgart and then 3-2 down before centre back Naldo popped up with a late equalizer.

League Table End

View attachment 362599

I felt like we had a really good season but Bayern are just too formidable in defence and have an unbelievable attacking force, We came 7 points clear of 3rd place with the big surprise being Schalke dropping to 4th with Dortmund's late surge into 3rd place.

Player Stats

View attachment 362598

So despite coming second in the league none of our players really stood out and that was shown in the fact we didnt win a single award or even have a player in the Team of the Year with 8 Bayern players and 3 Dortmund players i was shocked that Schalke didnt have a player in their either.

3rd German Cup Final For Wolfsburg - Lost Other 2 Finals

View attachment 362597

German Cup Final V Hoffenheim

View attachment 362596

Rode scored a goal in the opening seconds to give us the lead but in a game we dominated it wasnt until the closing moments when Arnold stepped off the bench to smash in 2 late goals and seal our 1st Ever German Cup and my first piece of silveware with Wolfsburg.

End Of Season Stats

Summary

So the big story this season was the German Cup win a huge achievement especially as we beat Bayern Munich on the way to winning it.
We managed to reach the Champions League Quarter Finals and i feel could have gone one better if we hadnt have met Bayern Munich in an all German Quarter Final.
We finished second in the league so were one place higher up than last season and what was expected of us but i feel as if next season we need to finish closer to Bayern and at least mount some sort of title challenge.
Transfers wise im really only looking at a couple of players as we have a lot of young players in the side and need to get rid of some deadwood before bringing in just one or two quality signings.

Top Goalscorer - Maximillian Arnold - 20 Goals

View attachment 362576

A brilliant season for the young German who mainly plays at AMC/CM to get the top goalscorer for us with 5 goals in our Cup Run triumph and 3 more in the Champions League, He set up 9 more goals aswell.

Player of the Year - Edin Dzeko

View attachment 362540

I had to give it to him as he made our second half of the season, 15 goals in 18 games and 7 assists shows why he is considered Wolfsburg's best player ever and a full season with him next year will surely see us take Europe by storm!

Young Player of the Year - Ricardo Rodriguez

View attachment 362539

10 assists and 4 goals for the young Left Back who played almost 50 games this season for us with an incredible average rating of 7.41.

Summer Transfer Window

July/August 2015

Season Expectations

View attachment 362423

Oooh yes please £50Million transfer budget is just what i needed, not much in the terms of extra wage budget but im sure i can sell a couple of players first.

Players Out

So there was a lot of youth players going out on loan along with Ochs and Sissoko leaving on free transfers as i struggled to sell them. I sold a backup player called Fagner for a few million who never played for me but the only big transfer out was winger Perisic.
He did very good for us in the past couple of seasons but with the players i have brought in this window and the previous ones he is seen as the 3rd best right winger and 5th best left winger so i thought i would cash in while i could and got £12Million from Roma.

Players In

Well i only brought in 3 players but still managed to spend £52.75Million! Its not so much about bringing in a shed load of players now but more about quality.

Julian Draxler - AMRLC - £38.5Million

View attachment 362408

Hes set to become one of the best players in the world and not only strengthens us seriously weakens Schalke whilst fitting in nicely with our project of young German players.

Matthias Ginter - DC/CM - £14.25Million

View attachment 362407

He was awesome for me on some previous saves and again is a young German with plenty of potential he can play in midfield but i see him playing alongside Balanta at the back when Naldo retires or leaves.

Ricardo van Rhijn - DRC - Free

View attachment 362405

We need a new backup RB and Trasch is usually seen as our weak link by other teams in the media so it was definitely an area that needed strengthening.
I put an offer in for Sebastian Jung a young German and it was accepted at around £11Million but he wanted silly wages of around £140k a week so i decided against it.

Transfer History

View attachment 362402

Starting 11 and Tactic For New Season

View attachment 362401

I would say GK and RB are our weak links now but im sure by the next Summer Transfer window we can have that sorted, we have 6 Germans in the starting lineup and 8 of our starting lineup are under 24!
Look at the attacking front though! Draxler, Meyer and De Bruyne supporting lone striker Dzeko! That should destroy a few defences.

August 2015

German League Title Odds

View attachment 362302

So were seen as 3rd favourites again by the media behind favourites Bayern Munich and Dortmund, they dont give Schalke much of a chance at all.

Right lets go through the other teams transfer business.

Schalke - So with the money they received from selling us Draxler they brought in Christian Benteke and Gary Medel

Dortmund - They could struggle big time this year as last season they spent £70Million and finished 3rd and this year they have only spent £4Million on 2 players and sold Reus in the winter transfer window to Bayern.

Bayern - They brought in players called Vesteegaard and Kampl for almost £40Million in total whilst selling on former Barcelona defenders Bartra and Montoya for £20Million plus each.

German Super Cup V Bayern

View attachment 362301

Dominated, It shows how much we had to rely on our defence to keep it to losing 1-0 with Benaglio getting the man of the match award.

Champions League Group Stage Draw

View attachment 362300

Another tough group draw with the likes of Barca and AC Milan but were going to be getting these whilst were still 4th seeds in the draw, we have moved up around 15 places in the rankings but were still 57th in the club rankings.

August Fixtures

View attachment 362299

So after the cup loss to Bayern we beat a little known team to make the next round of the German Cup and then went on to win our first 4 league games of the new season with Meyer, De Bruyne and Dzeko in fine goalscoring form with Draxler setting them all up

League Table

View attachment 362298

Surprise package HSV top the table at the moment whilst Bayern pull a shocker and drop points early on to Freiburg.

Player Stats

View attachment 362297

Thats what i like to see! After 4 games we have Dzeko topping the Golden Boot chart with 6 goals and Draxler topping the assists charts with 6 too.

September 2015

100th Game In Charge Of Wolfsburg

View attachment 362295

76 wins out of 100 games is a very impressive stat whilst in just over 2 seasons we have won the German Cup and gone from 5th favourites to second whilst spending big bucks on the likes of Meyer, Draxler and Dzeko, will be interesting to see where we stand in another 100 games.

September Fixtures

View attachment 362294

So we started the month well with a decent win against rivals Schalke before getting dominated by group favourites Barcelona in the Champions League.
We then struggled to a draw against bogey team Mainz coming from 2-0 down to draw with Dzeko scoring a brace. After that match we managed 3 straight wins beating Hertha Berlin in the German Cup and then seeing Batshuayi break his 11 hour goalless streak in getting the only goal against Dusseldorf.
The final match of the month was an impressive win over AC Milan in the Champions League with a shift in personnel and tactic at half time seeing us score 3 quick second half goals.

League Table

View attachment 362293

I know were only 7 games in but nobody expected HSV to be topping the table whilst we both have 3 points more than Bayern and Dortmund are struggling down in 6th place.

Player Stats

View attachment 362292

Dzeko still tops the Golden Boot chart with 9 league goals in his opening 7 league games with Draxler having set most of them up with 8 assists.
