Magpies break the bank for Everton young star

Newcastle remain faithful to their policy of doing summer business early. This time the opening of the transfer market saw a single player join the club. Everton central midfielder Jordan Hayward (17) has signed for a rather large fee of £16.5m. Jordan has been a long term target for manager Dimiter Hristov but turned down the opportunity to join the Magpies in order to get some first team football at his home club.

Jordan Hayward

He made his first team breakthrough for the Toffees last season (his second) and managed the impressive 14 starts plus two appearances from the bench. Hayward was more than decent for Everton and commanded a 7.06 average rating - very promising for his tender age. Journalists have compared him with the early Shola Shoretire and we hope he will be able to live up to this tag.

Blackburn raid Red Devils for right full-back

Neil Lennon has picked to add experience with his first summer signing. Manchester United full-back Martyn Flint (27) joins the team for £23.5m. Flint was a part of the Man United side which won the Europa League in 2027 and reached the Champions League final this year.

Martyn Flint

Rovers supporters welcomed Martyn with mixed emotions with some fractions slightly concerned with the fact he arrives from a rival club although the general response is they are prepared to give the player the benefit of the doubt for the time being and hope he proves to be an inspired addition to the squad. Flint started his career with Leeds and spent five seasons at his home club before moving to Crewe Alexandra. After four seasons there he was signed by Manchester United and spent the last four years with the Red Devils. He has been a regular in all sides since leaving Leeds and has a great reputation of a cool penalty taker. He has taken 28 penalties in his career and scored 21 of them. Flint is also a regular English international and has managed 38 caps with 5 goals although he has not been included in the team currently defending the Euro Championship title at home soil.

Sir Alex buys young striker from Everton

Gary Neville

Published at 1:08PM, June 13 2028

We opened the transfer window with a sale again but this time Sir Alex moved quickly to disperse the negative emotions. It is the first time in a while we have splashed the cash but Ferguson has flexed the financial muscle for a significantly younger striker this time - Igino Valente from Everton. The Italian cost us £15.75m.

Igino Valente

Igino was prolific for his first English club Southampton where he managed 54 goals in 93 league appearances. He found it harder with Everton though and only managed 3 in 23 league games. His form in cup games shows he isn't entirely firing blanks though and he caught Ferguson's eye with seven cup goals in just four outings.

Red Devils replace Flint with Q.P.R. Swiss international

Gary Neville

Published at 1:22PM, June 17 2028

This transfer window is looking good for Manchester United so far. We are moving quickly and after losing Martyn Flint to Blackburn Sir Alex revealed plans were in motion for the full-back to be replaced. His choice is Swiss right-back Igli Berisha (23) who joins from Queens Park Rangers in a £22.5m deal.

Igli Berisha

Berisha is currently with the Swiss national team in the Euro 2028 in England and is likely to add to his impressive 83 caps. The attacking full-back made his debut in English football for West Ham and had a spell with Everton before moving to Rangers. He has been a regular first teamer for both the Toffees and Q.P.R. over the last five seasons. He is the most expensive purchase since the transfer of Shola Shoretire from Derby County six seasons ago.

Leeds United: versatile midfielder joins from Liverpool - Matteo
View attachment 359550

by Dominic Matteo
Harry Redknapp has made his first signing this summer in England winger Casper Wilson. Casper (23) joins Leeds from Liverpool in a deal worth £21m, although half of that sum will go to Newcastle because of a 50% sell on fee. Casper has enjoyed first team football during his two seasons with the Merseyside club and managed 62 starts plus 35 appearances from the bench in which he scored 13 goals and assisted for 24 more. He may not be the flair player Leeds fans crave for but future is ahead of him to develop further and his versatility promises to be an asset.

Important Message

I think your story is amazing. Because one important reason, I read it like a story about a league(EPL) not a story about your(or your club) achievements and it's really original. You mayn't get as much response as you like, but I think it would be bad if you change your approach to this story.
About your questions. I think six is the right number in your approach. I would like more, but I think it would take to much time :) I would like to see interviews/short story grom players/managers side. Something like that n the begining(an interview with Hristov after WC). 1 interview per month is the right number I think.
Once again, great story keep it up!

And, oh 109 points and no title? 82 points and no CL? Crazy game :D

Thank you for the kind words. I intended to get more teams at first though as I was introducing the squads for the first time it felt heavy (and I don't mean time consuming) and I doubted anyone would be able to follow six teams in depth and care about them let alone more. I still decided to give it a go but am not sure the story has enough focus.

What kind of interviews do you have in mind? I intended to add some twitter banter between famous club related figures to spice things up in between the articles and introduce interviews when I get enough feedback from the folks around here so that you guys could ask the questions (would be much more fresh, creative and natural rather than me playing both sides) though for obvious reasons these plans have stalled.

On the points yeah, I was amazed when Blackburn held on to the end. I kind of let them get back in the second direct clash in the league to keep it interesting and what do you know, they didn't drop any points after... It is a huge gulf in quality between the top six and the teams below, even if the game suggests Man City and Man Utd are on par when announcing title odds. A few teams like City and Q.P.R. have rich benefactors and occasionally buy some very good players but are able to hold onto them for a couple seasons at best before the top six move in and snap them. They only let aging players who are past it or close leave for the lesser teams (and that's when they don't buy these from each other). It's not to say clubs like Arsenal and Everton don't buy some pretty good players but the cream tends to go to the contenders. I'm considering selling some of my older players if they don't drop their wage demands when I need to renew their contracts and it may move some layers depending on who puts out the cash to buy but that will be next summer or even later. In the meantime we'll see if media predicts some changes in the upper half of the table although I doubt it.

Sir Alex goes French to replace retiring de Gea

Gary Neville

Published at 1:11PM, July 4 2028

Sir Alex Ferguson is continuing his change of generations transfer policy with the third signing for the summer. After the recent retirement of David de Gea the club was on the lookout for a first team goalkeeper. Ferguson identified Jonathan Thevenet (29) for the purpose and paid LOSC £13.75m for his services.

The Olympique Lyonnais graduate spent the last six seasons with LOSC and played 228 games keeping 51 clean sheets in the process. Thevenet is a full French international and has 9 caps on his bill. He is part of the French team who are to face Scotland in Euro 2028 semi final.

Old Trafford revolution continues

Published at 2:41PM, July 9 2028

Manchester United have announced the fourth summer transfer in. Turkish international Ziya Kas (20) joins the Red Devils from Nottingham Forest in a £21.5m deal. Ziya Kas spent four seasons with Forest in the Championship and felt the right time has come to try himself in the top tier of English football. As a matter of fact he was with Liverpool before moving to Nottingham but the Merseyside club never allowed him to prove himself in the first team.
Ziya Kas has played 89 games for Nottingham Forest and managed 31 goals and 49 assists. The wonderkid has represented his country 16 times and Liverpool must be wondering how they let him leave before he could show his full potential. Their loss, our gain!

Sorry to break the continuity!
I think this is the most amazing story I've ever seen, and I haven't even had the time to read it all!!

One question, is Sir Alex actually still managing Manchester United?

Summer spending continues with Mexican defensive midfielder

Gary Neville

Published at 2:23PM, July 12 2028

Manchester United have announced the fifth summer purchase. Mexico international David Joel González has been granted conditional work permit allowing the club to finalize his £26m transfer from Udinese. The Mexican has spent three seasons in Serie A playing 96 games with 13 goals and 18 assists.

This transfer confirms Sir Alex Ferguson's determination to bring fresh blood in the dressing room and allow some of the older first team players some much needed rest. It will be interesting to see if the spending goes on.

Feel free to break the continuity whenever you have something to share/ask/contribute, mate!
Yes, he is. I'm not letting him off the hook before he gets their 20th league title (and I'm determined to beat them to it despite the slip up last season!)

Pettersen returns to Old Trafford after eight years

Gary Neville

Published at 1:01PM, July 23 2028

Manchester United have announced the sixth summer purchase. It is a little different than the previous. Robin Pettersen is no younger than what we have and at the age of 30 can qualify as an experienced back up. Younger fans will remember him signing for Arsenal from Liverpool back in 2026 although before moving to Liverpool he was with Blackburn and they snapped him out of our hands. Sir Alex always had a soft spot for the Norwegian who can play both as defender and striker and when he was told £7.5m could bring him back at Old Trafford he never hesitated.

Robin Pettersen

Of course Robin is not the player who left Manchester eight years ago. The strong centre-back is already considering the possibility of taking up management once his playing career is over. Pettersen, who is known for attempting overhead kicks, always loved the Red Devils and has a great respect for Ferguson. He is thrilled to have the opportunity of working under him once again before hanging up his boots.
