Semi Final Second Leg

Tuesday 5th May 2015:

Newcastle - Barcelona 5-1 (7-3)
Remy (5), Debuchy (49), Sissoko (68), Baines (88), Cisse (90); Messi (pen 65)

Wednesday 6th May 2015:

Juventus - Galatasaray 2-3 (3-5)
Llorente (14), Motta sent off (43), Vucinic (76); Burak Yilmaz (9, 69), Chedjou (64)

Newcastle - Barcelona 5-1 (7-3)
Remy (5), Debuchy (49), Sissoko (68), Baines (88), Cisse (90); Messi (pen 65)

Tremendous win after barely able to name a squad of 18 with a number of them struggling for fitness! Losing Petrucci to injury until the end of the season was a little price to pay for reaching the Champions League final at the first attempt - and we are to face Galatasaray there which seems a very, very easy game!!!

Consortium locked in Newcastle takeover talks with Mike Ashley

Geordie fans have been wanting owner Mike Ashley out for quite some time after a series of spectacular gaffes the club suffered during his regime - including notorious bust-ups with Newcastle legends Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan, renaming Saint James' Park to Sports Direct Arena to promote Ashley's business, a questionable sponsorship deal with loan sharks Wonga, etc. The choir of angry voices has went silent with the recent unprecedented success but fans are about to have their wishes granted... at the worst possible time.

Ashley gearing up for more "good business"

The first team is gearing up for its first ever appearance in a Champions League final after trashing none other than Barcelona with an excellent second leg match at Saint James' Park while also in dominant position to successfully defend the Premier League title and the FA Cup. With two league must-win games and two final appearances before the end of the season yet to play the club might still go from another memorable season to total derail. This is the time everyone associated should be united. But peculiarly the owner has decided it is the right time to announce a consortium with an yet unnamed former player in the lead has opened negotiations to buy Newcastle. As a result, the board have placed an embargo upon transfers. The rumor frenzy is bound to affect the first team and manager Dimiter Hristov at a time concentration is of utmost importance. Mike Ashley had the opportunity to get an exit with head held high after ultimately succeeding in bringing success to the North East but could now be throwing one last but the biggest yet blunder.

Bitter rivals Manchester United and Newcastle meet yet another time but the roles in that rivalry have dramatically switched in the past two seasons. The Red Devils - who won the Champions League last season but came second behind the Magpies in the Premier League - are still uncertain of their top four status while Newcastle appear on track to actually improve on last season's treble. The FA Cup is one of the trophies they won last term and will try to repeat the feat against a Man United team desperate for their last chance of silverware this season to come to fruition.

Team news:
Manchester United - Rafael suspended, Anders Lindegaard and Ryan Giggs injured
Newcastle - Gino Peruzzi, Yohan Cabaye and Erik Lamela injured

1' Yellow Card! Santon (Newcastle)
9' Yellow Card! Zouma (Newcastle)
14' Yellow Card! Fellaini (Man United)
31' Goal!! 0-1 Alex Sandro

45+1' Half Time
55' Goal!! 1-1 Kagawa
56' Yellow Card! Tiote (Newcastle)
57' Goal!! 2-1 Pogba (penalty)
76' Second Yellow Card! Zouma (Newcastle)

90+3' Full Time

FINAL SCORE: Manchester United 2-1 Newcastle United

Wembley witnessed a great final - the Magpies appeared on track to successfully defend their trophy when Alex Sandro put them ahead but their midfield tired and suffered knocks after the break which allowed the Red Devils to take full advantage and turn it around... Newcastle had their hopes ruined with 15 minutes to go when Kurt Zouma got sent off and there was no return after. This win marks a good campaign for the Red Devils as they have now completed a double by adding the FA Cup to the Community Shield which was won against the Magpies as well! Now let's take a look at match stats and individual performances:

FINAL SCORE: Manchester United 2-1 Newcastle United

FA Cup 2014/15 - holders Manchester United!

**** Mike Ashley and his decision to open negotiations right now!!! The Yohan Cabaye injury has finally caught up with us as the tired Anita and Tiote were kicked around until they could barely run... such a shame we surrendered the trophy but it is getting worrying as this is the second consecutive final we lose to Manchester United.

Premier League predictions: Lawro v sir Frank

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.

This week he takes on the founder and team principal of the Williams F1 Formula One racing team and Tottenham fan sir Francis Williams. A car accident in March 1986 in France resulted in Williams sustaining a spinal cord injury and becoming tetraplegic. While driving a rental Ford Sierra car to Nice airport, Williams lost control of the vehicle which then rolled over causing him to be pressed between his seat and the roof resulting in a spinal fracture between the 4th and 5th vertebra. Since the accident he has used a wheelchair. Williams was knighted in 1999.

Lawro vs Tottenham fan Frank Williams

A correct result is worth ONE point. A correct score earns THREE points.

Aston Villa - Arsenal
Frank Williams: The Gunners can end their top four chances here and now and I don't say it because I'm a Spurs fan. 2-1.
Mark Lawrenson: I doubt Arsenal will miss the chance to put pressure back on Man United for 4th - 1-3.

Manchester City - Swansea
Frank Williams: This is a must win game for City and they will take it - 3-0.
Mark Lawrenson: I'd not advise betting against the Citizens as Swansea had a game in Europa League and will fully focus on the final of that competition. 5-1.

Tottenham - Southampton
Frank Williams: This will be a hard game for us but I expect us to finish the season in a positive manner. 2-1.
Mark Lawrenson: I doubt Spurs will be able to turn on, they only want this campaign behind their backs now. 2-2.

West Ham - Chelsea
Frank Williams: I think the Blues will struggle in what is a must win game for them - 1-1.
Mark Lawrenson: Chelsea will want to make the most of Newcastle's game being postponed and they simply have to get a result in this London derby - 1-3.

Manchester United game played.

Newcastle game postponed.

Last week, Lawro got three results right, with no perfect scores. His score of 3 was still not enough to match the predictions of Manchester City fan Michelle Keegan, who managed two correct results with one perfect score.

Premier League predictions: Lawro v King James

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.

This week he takes on American professional basketball player and Liverpool fan LeBron Raymone James. King James played the small forward and power forward positions for the Miami Heat of the NBA. James has won two NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, two NBA Finals MVP Awards, two Olympic gold medals, and NBA scoring title and the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He has also been selected to ten NBA All-Star teams, nine All-NBA teams and is the Cleveland Cavaliers' all-time leading scorer. His career achievements and leadership role during Miami's 2012 and 2013 championship runs have led many basketball analysts to consider him the best player in the NBA today.

Lawro vs Liverpool fan LeBron James

A correct result is worth ONE point. A correct score earns THREE points.

Swansea - Newcastle
LeBron James: I fully expect the Magpies to come all guns blazing and get a couple of early goals to seal the title right there! 0-3.
Mark Lawrenson: I wouldn't bet against the champions in the decisive game of the season but it will be an even match as we must remember both clubs are to appear in European finals in the coming days. 2-3.

Arsenal - Cardiff
LeBron James: The Gunners will be chasing that 4th place and will win this match. 3-1.
Mark Lawrenson: I feel the extra pressure on the Gunners will catch up with them and they will crumble, especially if Man United is winning in the other game. 2-2.

Chelsea - Q.P.R.
LeBron James: The Blues will win this, even though I don't think that will be enough for a title. 2-0.
Mark Lawrenson: I think Rangers will feel the rage of Chelsea putting pressure on the league leaders as all games are played in the same hour. 5-1.

Everton - Tottenham
LeBron James: I don't think either team is fighting for anything at this stage and this will end with a share of the spoils. 2-2.
Mark Lawrenson: Spurs have improved a lot with Diego Costa and Benzema recovering from broken legs and now the pressure to perform is gone they can finish the season in a good manner - 1-4.

Manchester United - Aston Villa
LeBron James: I feel the Villains will be up for this game and the Red Devils will be a little hangover from winning the FA Cup. 1-1.
Mark Lawrenson: No way on earth will Man United fail to win this to grant Champions League next season. 3-0.

Southampton - Manchester City
LeBron James: The Citizens will win - they just have to. 2-4.
Mark Lawrenson: This is a title contender I think can lose pace here, especially if Newcastle and Chelsea are winning their games - the Citizens will need both of them to drop points to win the league and that ain't happening. 2-2.

Last week, Lawro got three results right, with no perfect scores. His score of 3 was just enough to beat the predictions of Tottenham fan Frank Williams, who managed two correct results with no perfect scores.

Brian McDermott has been fired by West Ham United President David Sullivan. In failing to avoid relegation, McDermott's future became uncertain and the club will move forward with a new manager in charge. The former Leeds employee had been manager at West Ham since February 2014. The Hammers were relegated this season with very little separating them from Crystal Palace who retained their Premier League status.

Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman is currently odds-on favourite to be offered the job, although nothing has yet been heard from the Bolton camp. West Ham United officials are refusing to comment but speculation suggests that Dave Jones, Steve Clarke and Owen Coyle could also be in the mix.

Odds for next West Ham manager:
3-1 Dougie Freedman (Bolton)
5-1 Dave Jones (Sheffield Wednesday)
5-1 Steve Clarke (unemployed)

Odds for next manager to get the sack:

Gus Poyet has been fired by Sunderland President Ellis Short. In failing to avoid relegation, Poyet's future became uncertain and the club will move forward with a new manager in charge. Poyet had been at Sunderland since July 2013, having previously managed Brighton. He lifted the Sky Bet League 1 with his previous club but this season Sunderland were relegated from the English Premier League after failing to win any of their last 19 games. Sunderland will now be looking for a new manager.
